New 2019 ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for abnormal cervical cancer screening tests and cancer precursors provide new recommendations.

ASCCP is pleased to offer this app to streamline navigation of the ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for abnormal cervical cancer screening tests and cancer precursors. The guidelines articles, as published in the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease, as well as the comprehensive risk estimates, can be accessed through

These evidence-based management guidelines, initially developed in 2019, came together through a consensus process of 19 organizations. The updated management guidelines aim to:
• Allow for a more complete and precise estimation of risk
• Provide more appropriate intervention for high-risk individuals (detect and treat more precancer)
• Recommend less intervention for low-risk individuals (decrease testing and treatment that won’t prevent cancer and may cause reproductive harm)
• Allow for the future addition of new risk modifiers and screening and management technologies

See for tips on using the app.

App is not that smooth; does not scroll on my iPhone well; was told there is portion also for DES exposure but not able to find that; a bit disappointed

  • I wish I had the old version back
by Cayman S on July 28, 2021 at 2:19 pm

New app is confusing to use compared to previous version

  • Figures for Algorithim Are Gone
by adhetrick on July 7, 2021 at 4:41 pm

The iPhone app no longer shows the figures for the algorithm, so you don’t have it to compare to the recommended testing when the app doesn’t spit out a good answer or the clinical presentation is complicated

  • Love this app
    by jpillow2019 on May 3, 2021 at 6:27 pm

This is must have for any NP but especially women’s health.

  • So difficult to use
by Merkp on April 21, 2021 at 2:32 pm

Not user friendly. Things need to be linked to each other. Still reference the old app because it’s so much easier to use and get to a final recommendation.

  • Not as easy to navigate
    by Carabiner252 on February 23, 2021 at 2:55 pm

The previous app was easier to navigate. I do appreciate the updated information, however. If they could combine the ease of the previous app with the information of the new app, this would be perfect.

  • Not as good
    by UK/US on February 17, 2021 at 7:01 am

This new app isn’t as user friendly or clear as the first. Better than nothing though.

  • Needs improvement

  • ASCCP has pooped this on us.
by SchultzeFamily on December 23, 2020 at 11:23 pm

This set of guidelines and this application are likely the worst I have ever seen as a physician. In no way do these guidelines help us and it is hard to imagine that they improve care for our patients. The application is almost as bad as they the guidelines. I am unbelievably saddened by the loss of efficiency and stress these guidelines will cause

  • New ASCCP app
by j DS DS on December 22, 2020 at 5:20 pm

Worse than the old app. Less intuitive

  • Frustrating.
by on November 25, 2020 at 2:46 pm

I hope I am missing something. I wish this app was as integrated as the previous one- this one seems to require a person have both this app for the latest guidelines, and the previous one to have the actual recommendations. Which makes sense from a monetary stand point since the last app was not updated and instead a new app was made- but frustrating from a clinician POV.

  • Missing scenario
by Doctor Triathlete on November 13, 2020 at 9:49 am

In practice for 22 years and ASCCP member for longer...disappointed to pay this fee and find missing in the app the scenario of hpv negative with lack of adequate endocervical cells.

  • Terrible

  • Big disappointment

So much harder to use than the prior app! Significantly less user friendly. Very disappointed.

  • The new app is not as intuitive as the original
    by RobK2011 on September 9, 2020 at 5:25 pm

This app is not intuitive. I prefer the original style, especially since this one is a paid app.

  • great app, a notification on the old app would have been good!
by rdajao on September 4, 2020 at 4:55 pm

I use this app daily. i’m glad to see that there are now ways to input previous results. it would be a very good idea to send a notification to all the previous app users that they need to update to this new one.

  • Not user friendly
by OhitsJo on September 2, 2020 at 7:55 pm

I preferred the setup of the previous app. This one is not user friendly at all, especially with post colposcopy recommendations.

  • Not intuitive
by massuavecita on August 24, 2020 at 11:41 pm

Not easy to use Not intuitive As a point of care tool it is now useless. Which I had the older version and the old recommendations.

  • Lacking
by sarflorn on August 24, 2020 at 2:02 pm

    Lacking routine screening guidelines

  • New version not intuitive
    by Paddler95 on August 21, 2020 at 4:42 pm

This app has great information. The old version was super easy to use. But this new version is confusing, not intuitive and I feel like even after spending a lot of time on the app, I can’t always find the information I’m looking for. Wish they would go back to their older versions with step by step input from screen to screen. And I wish they would provide the references flow sheets from the guidelines in their results. Please improve!

    by NSVD5180 on August 12, 2020 at 11:22 pm

More difficult to use than the previous version.

  • Difficult to use
by NP Cindy on August 12, 2020 at 2:28 pm

I have been using ASCCP app since it first came out. I loved the previous app. It was very user-friendly. This new app is SO confusing. It is so much more difficult then the previous app. I do not like it at all. I even watched the tutorial. Please consider revamping it. All of my co-workers agree.

  • Awful
    by lsr0911 on July 30, 2020 at 5:35 pm

This new app is terrible and quite frankly useless. Almost any “follow up after treatment situation” ends with “no data is available, use clinical judgement”. Even though the algorithm papers would give you a recommendation. I regret having deleted the old app!

  • Guidelines
by Jesroo on July 30, 2020 at 7:19 am

Where are the current recommended guidelines ie: age of paps Age to add HPV How often do they need to be done? Do we still go by old recommended screening?

  • Guideline paradigm shift not app problem
by Sybarrite on July 21, 2020 at 1:32 pm

I am using the new app and was reticent because of the negative reviews but it works well! It is totally different than before but considering the change in guidelines it couldn’t have been the same plug and play. Agree that it’s stupidly expensive but it’s worth the money to keep my practice current.

  • Not user friendly
by RBeardsley on July 6, 2020 at 9:30 pm

The previous version was far more intuitive. When you try to start entering in your most recent results and where to go from there, it becomes unclear if it is wanting you to collect and enter in cytology and HPV status from AFTER your last test (eg colpo biopsy or LEEP) or if you are entering in cytology and HPV from BEFORE your last test. Then, if what you have done in the past or what you have been given (such as a new patient you’re trying to catch up on) doesn’t match up with the algorithm order, it just doesn’t even give you any recommendations. I feel like I’m going to have to know the guidelines so thoroughly in order to even use the app that I won’t even need it by then!

  • Handy Concise Tool
by Alamosa mom on July 1, 2020 at 7:02 pm

Great to have instant access to help with quality patient care. Still trying to learn the new app but 5 stars.

  • $$
    by obgyn421 on July 1, 2020 at 3:31 pm

The old version was already one of the most expensive basic medical apps on the market, and to come out with an entirely new one, for another $9.99, rather than just updating the old one is really praying of residents with limited financial resources who are just trying to learn and provide good care. It is a great app and helpful, but to have had to pay for it twice in residency leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

  • Poor update
    by customer037393 on June 30, 2020 at 3:33 am

This app is confusing and difficult to use. For example, I put in a normal result for a 25 year old with a normal history. Even then, the routine follow up was hard to see. In fact, just try to find the routine screening guidelines. I think that this app was tested on people with prior knowledge. It is going to confuse new practitioners. ACSSP - get your money back from the programmers - this app is not worth $10!

  • Don’t waste your money
by Jen OBGYN on June 29, 2020 at 2:56 pm

The new app is not nearly as clear and concise as the original. I am of the impression that ASCCP now recommends 6 month f/u cytology after LEEP but do not see a way to access that recommendation after entering in my clinical scenario. This app needs work.

  • Easier than looking at the most complex spreadsheets ever
by Jejomupi on June 28, 2020 at 7:17 pm

But Why not offer as an update to the old app!!!! This was a major selling point last time- yes it’s $10 but at least you’ll stay updated when the guidelines change 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Not user friendly
by CNM Katie on June 27, 2020 at 7:27 am

Confusing, challenging to use especially when trying to quickly look something up between patients. I do like that you can put in their previous results. VERY unhappy to pay $9.99 AGAIN. Should have been an included upgrade in previous app. Still remains most expensive app I’ve ever downloaded, now I'll just consider it $20 not just $10.

  • Not user friendly
    by DrEM1982 on June 26, 2020 at 10:18 pm

I loved the old app! It was extremely user friendly, efficient, and always got me the info I needed. This new app is incredibly frustrating and often ends with “not enough information” or “use your clinical judgement.” I wish I had known so I wouldn’t have deleted the old version and paid the $9.99 for this one. I am part of a social network of thousands of women OB/Gyns that are feeling similarly to me. I am hoping this app will be revised, and fast, otherwise I will likely end up deleting it. It is a shame, because I used the old app several times a day.

  • Horrible app
by Confused Gynecologist on June 24, 2020 at 7:56 pm

This app is BEYOND confusing and information is missing. I am trying to put in a CIN3 for the colpo and there is not an option to pick CIN3. I am jumping all over the place trying different scenarios and I am so confused. To have to repurchase this app (because I could not upgrade the old one) for it to be subpar is inappropriate and DANGEROUS! You all need to fix this ASAP. Or I will just have to use my “clinical judgement” as the told me for CIN2 on a colpo.

  • There should be a video on how to use the app
    by Becca237 on June 18, 2020 at 6:20 pm

This app is very challenging to use. I am struggling with being able to easily insert the appropriate information to get the recommendations such as: abnormal pap, colp, abnormal pap—get recommendation. I miss the old App which was straightforward and you didn’t have to back log vs move forward.

  • Chock full of information
by SLOPeeDee on June 13, 2020 at 11:05 pm

This new app will take time to get used to. It is definitely not as intuitive as the original. My first attempts to figure out where to jump in for a complex patient were completely frustrating. But with some guidance from the ASCCP listserv folks ( some of whom developed the app) it was easier. Apparently ASCCP is going to offer some educational sessions to help with using the app. I recommend it but don’t expect to “get it” on the first try. Since the new guidelines are so “dense” not surprising the new app is too

  • Needs improvement
    by elizabeth212121 on June 12, 2020 at 9:22 pm

I loved the old app and how it guided one through the algorithms. This new app is much harder to use. It can be confusing to figure out the frequency to screen. I would love the new recommendations to be incorporated into the form of the old app.

  • Simplified patient care
by Mark H Einstein on June 12, 2020 at 12:42 pm

This app is a very user friendly medical app that includes all of the updates management guidelines so I can better manage my patients. It includes prior risk thresholds that predict current and future risk. Like the last app this one takes some wine to get used to, but once you do, it makes shared decision making very efficient.

  • Can be a little confusing
    by alexmac08 on June 10, 2020 at 6:25 pm

Not as bad as the other review suggests but can be confusing if you’re not starting from square 1. The app was redesigned to reflect the updated guidelines for screening and management. The major thing this app is missing that was present in the old version was the “next steps” section where you could continue to enter results and it would take you down the appropriate pathway. If this feature is implemented then this app would be great!

  • Good info for patients/chart
by noahagoldman on June 10, 2020 at 3:51 pm

I have found the app to be easy to use and, while it has not changed how I would manage the patient, the percentage risk numbers allow for a better discussion with the patient and better data when documenting decision making. Overall it is worthwhile.

  • Confusing
by praley on June 10, 2020 at 1:56 am

I’ve used the old app for years- it was wonderful- and user friendly. Not sure why the society felt the need to change. The new app is cumbersome and confusing, not intuitive at all. Definitely needs more work.
