  • Not at all consistent with other testing materials!
    by crose04 on September 11, 2021 at 12:39 am

Bought this as a way to further my practice in preparation for the clinical exam. In terms of other testing materials I’ve used, this did nothing but confuse me! The questions were poorly written, and didn’t align with the language used on the actual exam. Do yourself a favor and pay for actual practice exams!

  • Awesome study source!
by Mom Went Running on September 9, 2021 at 5:31 pm

I LOVE this app!! I answered 10-20 questions daily for two months leading up to my exam along with a couple of other study methods. I passed on the first try! My two favorite parts of the app were 1) being able to analyze why I got a question right or wrong and 2) being able to pull out my phone and answer a few questions wherever I was at the moment - in line at the store, waiting for my daughter, anywhere! No time was wasted.

  • App is crap
by Jetterbetter on August 28, 2021 at 6:54 pm

Quizzes are good but app works like crap. I downloaded an old version months ago and they’ve since updated. I paid for subscription recently. Every time I close app while working through a quiz and reopen, it takes me back to the App Store and new version to open. Extremely cumbersome. I’ve contacted support and their fixes didn’t work. Frustrating when I am already stressed studying!

  • Used to be Better
by Vehejdjdnejsbdbsh on August 10, 2021 at 9:38 pm

This app used to be very helpful. For example when I was taking my LMSW exam last year I used this app and was able to pass on the first try. However, since I have started studying for my LCSW exam, this app has only served to confuse me. I like how it is convenient to use in a time crunch and it shows your progress in helpful ways. What I dislike is that some of the questions are poorly worded in a way that even my clinical supervisor (who has 30+ years of experience helping young social workers like myself pass their exams) was having trouble justifying why the app would answer questions in such a way. To make matters worse, lately I’ve been noticing that their sources have not even been cited on some of these questions that have seemed a little off to me and my supervisor. Often they cite Dawn Apgar’s study book or the DSM V for their questions so I’m able to look up information there when I get an answer wrong. But I’m noticing a lot of the answer explanations I've been seeing on the app don’t even have a citation so I’m unable to look up where they got their information, and I know I’ve been seeing some of them have terms that aren’t even in Dawn Apgar’s book so I’d be curious to know where their information is coming from. These are my concerns and I hope they will be resolved because since using this app to prepare for my LCSW exam I am more anxious than ever to take the test. Every other practice test I have taken from other websites or books besides this app I have yielded great results, so that is where my concern lies. I used to love using it for my LMSW exam so I hope that it is able to gain the consistency it used to have. It is also quite expensive and I liked it better when it was a one time fee for access to all of the questions.

  • Not great for ASPPB/EPPP
by ducksduckseverywhere on August 10, 2021 at 8:22 pm

I just took the psychology licensure exam and would say that this app covered less than 30% of what was on the exam. It gives you a good idea of general areas to study, but the exam was very different from what was presented in these practice questions. Not harder or easier, just not the right content. I absolutely would not recommend using this app as your primary means of studying, but it’s okay to assess general areas where you might be weaker or stronger. Maybe focus on the ASPPB-provided practice questions instead of this. I really enjoyed using the app though, it’s fun and has good metrics for studying. I just wish it was actually representative of what the exam is like.

  • Inaccurate
by Nuklette on August 6, 2021 at 2:05 am

As I prep for the NCMHCE, the information in this app has been riddled with errors, and there isn’t an easy way to flag questions for developers to check on them. I’m using another prep course that I know several of my doctoral cohort members have used, counselingexam.com , and they all said that helped them. I’ve found that site to be helpful too and the information to be contradictory to what’s on this app. I regret paying for this pocket prep app.

  • Passed ADC Exam!!
by DaGod IBe on August 1, 2021 at 4:10 am

Pocket prep is official. I just passed my exam to be a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and used Pocket Prep as my main study source. I studied anytime and anyplace, figured out what areas I needed to pay more attention to, and pulled my score up by 20 points!!

  • Too expensive
by skwoticus on July 19, 2021 at 4:33 pm

As if licensure wasn’t expensive enough.

  • Show flagged questions in free trial
    by The13Ghost on July 1, 2021 at 5:30 am

Very useful tool. Please consider adding flagged questions to the free version.

  • I PASSED!
by JAR--- on June 30, 2021 at 2:26 am

This app did help in recall information. However, this app does not mimic the real ASWB EXAM! This exam is reason/application based questions. Studying the content is the only way to PASS. In addition, purchase ASWB $85 practice test to get a FULL UNDERSTANDING of the real EXAM!

  • Beneficial study assistance
by haole gurl on June 24, 2021 at 6:58 am

Am getting a better feel for test questions and how they are written with this prep. I have been back in field for 13 months now and site offers an opportunity to study with references provided minimizing my anxiety of taking exam. Plan on getting upgrade to expand study. Great feedback with stats of how I progress… my confidence has definitely improved.

  • Worse update!
by Not Working At All!! WARNING on June 19, 2021 at 10:21 am

The app was a 5 stars until I updated it and now it’s running super slow. Delaying my studying process just a few days before my test!

  • Notifications do NOT work
    by plibv1718 on June 11, 2021 at 10:13 pm

the app content itself is fine, but I only get my question of the day and study reminder notification about 5% of the time. I should be getting 2 notifications a day from the app but it’s averaging out to maybe once a week. I had to set a reminder in my calendar app to remember to study instead

  • Incorrect Answers and Questions
by App Needs To Go on June 7, 2021 at 12:24 am

Do not use this prep app. The exam is no way like this prep. As a matter of fact, ASWB recommend not using this kind of study material. ASWB have their own practice exam that mimics the actual exam. One question asked me when was it okay to touch client? I chose that it was never okay to touch a client. It marked it wrong, saying under certain circumstances. According to the Code of Ethics, we are to NEVER touch a client. Can you imagine the lawsuits & ethical boundaries we would cross. This app is outdated and does not reflect the exam at all. Then it asked me if it we had to get consent to conduct to a research study clients? I marked yes. If said no, not all clients have to give consent. Say what! Per the Code of Ethics, we cannot conduct a research study without a clients consent.

I love the appg getting ready for another license. Thanks.

  • Passed the LMSW and LCSW with this app
by MattFig on June 2, 2021 at 4:06 pm

I’ve done TONS of practice questions from several different publishers and these by far are the best. I couldn’t believe how close these questions matched the questions on the actual exam, especially the LCSW. I wouldn’t take the test without this app for sure. I used this and the Apgar Social Work Licensing Clinical Exam study guide as a cross reference and passed on the first try.

  • Substance abuse counselor
by Groove Phi Groove on May 15, 2021 at 4:57 pm

Great app. Thank you so very much.

  • Fantastic!!!
by katejeepsygirl on May 8, 2021 at 4:24 pm

This is literally the only thing I used to study for my exam and I passed first try! I only used this app and took the practice exam. The app is so handy and convenient to use when you are busy but still need to study!

  • It helps but does not rely only on the app.
by salvatiere on April 12, 2021 at 9:51 pm

I used this app for a few months before taking the exam (I passed), and I also took the pre-test ($85.00). The app helped me improve on timing by getting me used to answer hundreds of questions, but the line of questioning is different than the actual exam. If you are a BSW major on an advanced program, you can skip it and take the pre-test (you can take it one month before your exam). The pre-test gets you ready and gives you an idea of where you at on SW mastery. If you are not a BSW, or English is your second language (like yours truly), this app would help you but do not rely on the app alone. It does not replicate what comes in the exam. Good luck!

  • Great Prep App
    by Mattyblaze316 on April 3, 2021 at 10:32 pm

This app was excellent! 1000 questions with detailed explanations. These questions were also well written. They were much more challenging than my actual exam and I saw that as a huge plus when I was taking the actual LCS exam as my confidence rose after each question

  • Preparing as a new mom
by Glohoney on April 1, 2021 at 5:16 pm

I failed the exam by 2 points previously. Then covid-19 hit and pregnancy. So currently, I am a mother with a newborn and this app allows me to take daily questions through the night. I also take weekly quizzes when baby is napping. It’s quick, at the tip of my fingers and also allows me to see my week areas. I am looking forward to premium once my score gets better. I am definitely motivated to take my LBSW and be licensed in a few months.

  • Not as good as you’d expect
by pwonbdf on March 1, 2021 at 12:28 pm

After taking the ASWB pre-test and the licensing exam I have found that pocket prep’s questions are not consistent with what is on the exam. Studying the questions in this app will be a waste of your time as you will be studying things that don’t apply to the exam itself.

  • Some of the questions are terrible and outdated
    by zhmy0624 on February 20, 2021 at 1:33 am

Some of your questions are truly terrible! You need to have a comment section for each question, so that users can comment on those questions! Also, don’t expect the questions will be similar to the real exam questions. Questions are pretty much outdated. In the real exam, you get at least 90%case questions, and mostly are like “what is the thing that social workers should FIRST do?”

  • It’s ok...
    by taylol03 on February 13, 2021 at 2:44 am

I used this app to study for my NCE. I paid for the full version. I used it everyday for a month. I went through all the questions and I still failed...

  • This New Pricing Model
by btartt on January 29, 2021 at 3:47 pm

I’m very dissatisfied with this new pricing model. It forces you to buy a bundle of test you don’t even need access to. I preferred paying for test preps that I am actually going to need. I’m no longer interest in this app since it’s most admirable feature is gone.

  • Unaffordable for some
by AHHH!!! This is nuts on January 23, 2021 at 5:25 pm

I think it’s ridiculous basic only includes 60 questions. If you really wanted to provide support you’d make it workable and affordable since most are right out of college!

  • Help message center
    by Bkelly92 on January 21, 2021 at 2:46 am

T totally Terrible!!! Message Center Associates are not helpful. They never respond to my message. I’ve sent several incorrect responses on the app to help bring to their attention and they refuse to respond to me! Then when they do respond they suggest us to find the correct answer & to let them know!!!! HELLOOOOO aren’t you supposed to know that’s what I’m paying the app to study for!

  • Great Study Tool
by Naivaye on January 14, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Very helpful and convenient study tool

  • Will end up confusing you!
by k midgette on January 14, 2021 at 8:23 pm

I have come across multiple questions that provide you with incorrect answers. For example, taking the dawn apgar study test an example indicating a diagnosis of schizophrenia asked what medication would be used for treatment. This indicates lithium, however I thought to myself that’s not right despite it being correct answer on the app. Just came across similar question on dawn apgar test, I selected lithium due to the response I put on this test and got it wrong. This has been the case for many questions. I would not use the app again as it has me second guessing what I already knew, then getting them wrong. Set up is convenient to take practice tests however I don’t believe these questions are similar to the ones on the actual test and dawn Apgars practice tests. I wouldn’t recommend.

  • Doesn’t work
by psych student on January 13, 2021 at 12:57 am

Every time I try to take any test it says “wrong questions number” I have attempted to solve this problem in various ways over several months. I have deleted the app, turned off my phone, turned it back on and reinstalled the app many times and it never works. I even purchased a new phone and reinstalled the app and still the same error. I’ve reached out to technical support so many times I’ve lost count and I get the same response to try the uninstall reinstall technique, or just use the web browser to access the questions. At this point technical support have stopped replying and now I’m left with an app that never works (it used to work just fine before the new version of the app took).

I am very excited to have this as part of my preparation. It is handy and very thorough. It has good explanations and chance to review missed questions.

  • LCSW Exam
by Amy V Social Worker on December 31, 2020 at 1:57 pm

Payed $19.99 and used the upgraded version for one month. Great mini quizzes made it easy to study in the morning over coffee as a busy mom. I also thought the “Missed Questions Quizzes” were very helpful. I highly recommend this platform and passed the test with no other studying, the first time!

  • Joy of studying
by Sharchen Pawo on December 27, 2020 at 8:14 pm

I was feeling stuck and struggling with study. I decided to get the application and it seems that studying is more exciting.

  • Grateful!
by FOXEGEE on December 23, 2020 at 12:26 am

I PASSED the ASWB Clinical Exam yesterday. I used Pocket Prep in addition to a study guide. The question of the day helped me to apply knowledge to vignettes. I am thankful for the referral.

  • Worked!!!
by Diruda on December 17, 2020 at 6:11 pm

After 30 years of being a social worker, I finally sat for my LCSW. And failed as did the others in my supervision group. I thought I could just walk in as I did for my LMSW and LBSW. Wrong!!! After that first fail, I found this app and was a bit stunned that I was only making about 40% on my initial practice tests on this app. I kept at it, making notecards along the way. I also studied the DSM along with all the areas outlined in the ASWB book. When I reached 100% on the 1000 questions on the app, I felt ready and I passed by 24 points! Much better than the others in my group, some who passed by one point and others who failed again. Of course the questions on the app were not the same as the test but the practice was invaluable. I really got a good feel for how the questions were structured. I also built confidence to trust my experience for those tricky “what would you do first” questions. I had studied using YouTube videos of practice tests before my first attempt and those really misdirected me. I highly recommend this app!!!

  • An absolute MUST!
by Cigar Saturday on December 15, 2020 at 6:04 pm

This was by far the most helpful thing I did to prepare for the NCE. To be fair I read, watched videos, and used flash cards. However this app was the most help. I am in the parking lot after just taking my exam and I scored a 124 out of 160, which from what I gathered online is pretty good. Get the app and pay the $20 at least for the last month before your test!

  • Disappointed
    by marisa0905 on December 13, 2020 at 9:12 pm

I never buy apps. Ever. But I thought this would be worth the investment. The questions are vague, written poorly and I leave the session feeling worse off than when I started. I’ve been practicing therapy at a masters level for three years and have tested way higher on ASWB practice exams than this. Save your money.

  • NCE exam
by hhfnhhh on December 7, 2020 at 8:51 pm

I just took the NCE exam after being able pass the practice quizzes at 90-100% and failed! None of the questions on the NCE exam for 2020 were on here I did not recognize one question. 😞

  • Review. Year long member
    by Godsgurl504 on December 1, 2020 at 4:21 am

I love the new app. The font is bigger and the explanations are plainer.

  • Fair enough
    by tswiger20 on November 24, 2020 at 8:24 pm

Good program to use. The only issue I have is that many questions have blatantly wrong choices which make many questions too easy to answer.

  • It’s Just Ok
by KMDLMSW on November 15, 2020 at 12:21 am

I paid for the LCSW old version, about a month before the app updated, and although they credited me they did for the MSW version, so I don’t know if I’m studying relevant material. Also, although there are 800 questions I’ve seen several of the exact same question repeat. There could be improvements. I’m unsure if I will purchase the LCSW after paying so much.

  • Customer services and app information
by BR tester on November 11, 2020 at 3:44 pm

This is an awesome app. The owner of the app will respond to your email. I dealt with Alex. He was extremely nice. Is was about making sure I was satisfied. I did not stop until my issue was resolved and I was satisfied. Information is very helpful.

  • PASSED NCE FIRST TIME
    by yaya_HK on November 10, 2020 at 8:29 pm

Hi Pocket Prep!! I took my NCE yesterday and passed with a 104 (passing score is 98-105 on avg) and I want to thank you all for this amazing app that helped me do in-depth studying on-the-go. I started to believe in myself and see myself as a great text-taker throughout my 4 mths of studying. I have been out of school for a while so integrating studying back into my flow wasn’t the easiest thing. But I did it and you definitely helped me change the course of my career in counseling and the quality of life for my family! Thank you!!

  • Help me Pass
by TessRock on November 10, 2020 at 6:10 pm

I heard this is the one app that will help me pass my licensure test! It was recommended by many other Social Workers

  • Not challenging
by kimbellia on October 28, 2020 at 11:53 am

I am currently working with the free version, have been for the past month. All of the 10 quiz questions are repeats, I haven’t gotten any new questions since the first week of working with this app.

  • Great App
    by JB/24 on October 28, 2020 at 2:38 am

This is the first time in my life I wrote a review for a app I’m 27 so that she tell you everything great to add to study rotation and money is worth it!

  • Best App for ASWB Clinical Exam
    by Bellagirl2012 on October 25, 2020 at 11:42 pm

This app help me so much preparing for AWSB clinical exam. It breaks down the four areas for the exam in this app. This app really prepares you how to study and training your brain to take the exam . It’s is the best app out there to help you prep for the exam . Trust me, this app is worth purchasing it. I finally passed this time around . Hello LCSW 🙏🏻 plus it provides you over 1000 practices questions .

  • QOTD Notifications Don’t Work
by Tejas Mamacita on October 23, 2020 at 10:26 am

My Question of the Day and Study Time notifications never worked. When I asked for help, I was told I am the only person with this problem. I guess it’s not worth helping one person. Anyway, I didn’t bother paying for an app with limited functionality and apathetic tech support.

  • Having to pay again
by makoulou on October 11, 2020 at 9:19 pm

I have paid for the app a few months ago. They created a new version of it and discontinued the version I had. Now they want me to pay again for the new version.

  • Very valuable!
by Capoops on September 18, 2020 at 4:08 pm

Thank you so much for creating this app!! This was critical in helping me prepare for the test. Yes the questions were hard but they definitely prepared me for the actual test. Having the vast amount of questions available helped me solidify what I needed to know. It feels discouraging when I would get low scores but it was helpful to continue to push me to do better!! Thank you tons!
