  • Good
by L wave on June 11, 2022 at 1:00 am

Overall it is a good app for learning Japanese. Although there are a few tech issues when using it with iPad, the lessons, grammar, and examples are good and easy to understand. Good for self learning.

  • すごい!(*'▽'*)
    by noodle✨⛓ on May 29, 2022 at 7:25 pm

「こにちわ! i am learning Japanese so I can get to know my culture more, and this app is AMAZING! it’s Lowkey way better than dulingo, and it’s fast and DOSNT take a long time just to find out one word, unlike dulingo. I prefer this app than all of the other apps I have used to learn Japanese! This is very good for beginners as-well, and I give this a 10/10! And there isn’t ads, glitches, annoying pop ups, and etc! This app is amazing, so if you are visiting japan or wanna know how to speak it more fluently, or anything like that, you should definitely download this app! It’s amazing! It helped me learn very quick as well, and it’s not time consuming! After all, Japanese is the hardest language, so it really helped me! So Bunpo, ありがと!(≧∇≦)♡」

  • It's nearly ALL YOU NEED
by kimo ki on May 26, 2022 at 11:39 am

i rarely ever do reviews and still took time to post one for the simple fact that this app is amazing! the first time i got this app, i spent two weeks in diligent study. by the end of the second week, i knew the hiragana and katakana alphabet by heart. the UX is simple and the interface is perfect. i'm still intermediate, but my need to educate myself further has only grown. which is more than i can say for other apps. overall, 10/10.

  • Bunpo is amazing
by Ezekiel Notska on May 22, 2022 at 2:48 am

I’ve been using Bunpo for not long, but I’m already getting through hiragana and the katakana chart. I used to study on books which wasn’t for me. I’m glad my friend recommended this for me. They’re enjoying the app too!

  • Simple
    by KaneMcCormick4u on May 19, 2022 at 11:36 pm

Everything is structured and simple. Not a lot of fuss and easy to understand.

  • Excellent app to learn japanese
by Harry Mason 1234 on May 19, 2022 at 11:19 pm

I have zero knowledge, but the app has excellent structure to help me learn from zero. The explanation and pronunciation are descriptive to make the learning stick. It will be a long journey, but the app made it tolerable.

  • Buggy, low quality
by ComeOnNike on May 19, 2022 at 6:51 am

Try to get you to pay up front by teasing content, but buggy program. Content leaves lots to be desired. Convinced the 5 star ratings were paid

  • Best grammar app out there, especially for advanced learners
by Chrokeefe on May 18, 2022 at 3:44 am

Bunpo is the most exceptional app for learning and memorizing grammar, especially at Intermediate and Advanced Japanese levels. Truly, this app is the best out there!

  • Absolutely worth!
by Minimikemike on May 16, 2022 at 6:53 am

You can use some of this app without paying, however I bought the lifetime membership. The courses perfectly explain while being quick and to the point. 30 bucks for a lifetime membership is totally worth it! I’ve paid more for videogames that I don’t even like anymore but this is teaching a real skill that will probably stick with me forever once I’m done taking the courses. This app is genius. It pushes you towards the deep end of learning Japanese, while making sure you have a floaty nearby (if my metaphor makes sense). It’s doesn’t constantly hold your hand like you are a baby but it doesn’t throw you in blind. It’s an extremely useful tool for learning Japanese. Thanks for this beautiful app 🙂

  • True Free Japanese Learning Application!
by theone Mr.Failure on May 14, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Hello I am currently trying to learn Japanese for a job a currently have. Thanks to this app I am able to hear the words and see them. The learning is fun and the practice makes me feel better! The way the app is designed is so nice and easy to work through. I know I’ll be able to understand and master Japanese thanks to this app. To the developers and the people behind this I truly thank you for your work.

  • good app, not free
    by _0_Mel_0_ on May 8, 2022 at 3:40 pm

for some reason there's a lot of reviews saying this app is free- true, it is free to get, but to actually use it you need to pay. from the 1 lesson i did free it seems to be a really good app. it being free seems to good to be true... and it is. i do wish they told you upfront that you need to pay for the app.

  • Brilliant Learning Tool
by おからしい on May 8, 2022 at 2:33 pm

I’ve been trying to learn Japanese for a while. Duolingo wasn’t good enough so I looked at other apps and found Bunpo. It makes learning really easy and I’m learning Katakana, which is really different than Hiragana so it’s kinda hard. One suggestion for content is I would like a quiz thing where I could practice all of my Katakana instead of just doing the normal row. It makes the SO, SHI, TSU, and N easier. All in all, great app.

  • Just started
by trust me i hate this game on May 8, 2022 at 8:11 am

I like how it doesn’t tell you the answer if you click a certain button so you have to think

  • Simple yet thorough!
by ChaoticBooger 👺 on May 4, 2022 at 9:39 pm

I got this app a couple months back and it’s been really helpful! I had tried getting into Japanese with Duolingo at first, but once you complete a lesson, it wouldn’t allow to go back to the simpler material in that lesson. Duolingo is very helpful with a lot of other aspects though! It was just not as in-depth as I wanted. However, you can go back through old lessons in Bunpo! I also love the cutesy, minimalistic design with all the icons and flipping through the notecards! The explanations are simple and to the point which I LOVE! If you want to learn Japanese but don’t where to start, this is the perfect app for you! Whatever your proficiency level is, they have multiple courses depending on your skill. Highly recommend giving it a go!

  • Best Japanese app I’ve found
by JCdublin on May 3, 2022 at 4:22 am

I’m completely new to learning Japanese. I’ve spent several weeks on just the hiragana to make sure I have it all down. That’s just a snippet of so much FREE available content. But it’s not just about the amount of content but how it’s presented and broken down into appropriate sections so it isn’t overwhelming. There is a flow and direction for each section. There are clear explanations of what you’re learning, slides to apply what you’ve learned, then questions to help with recalling the new information. I decided to spend more time on this app anytime I have a compulsory desire to mindlessly scroll social media. It’s become a much better addiction for my brain health. Super appreciative of the time that went into this app. Should I make it through the many free lessons, from beginner to advanced, I’ll be more than happy to make any purchases to further my learning if nothing else but to support the developers. ありがとう ございます

  • Amazing♡
by XaPico on May 1, 2022 at 5:43 pm

It’s amazing how great this app is, I’ve managed to learn so much so quickly, compared to apps like duolingo which only are really there to earn a profit!

  • Amazing
    by Kaitdog30 on May 1, 2022 at 3:26 pm

I’m learning this so fast and I love sadly I’m only still on letters but no worries this app is great and I definitely would recommend this to someone wanting to learn Japanese.

    by Kalubab2958 on April 25, 2022 at 12:19 am

Yes it’s good but I don’t know what some some the words mean. I think you guys can improve this by having it in Japanese first then we guess which is which and you guys can tell us what it means when we’re wrong

If at all possible, please enable landscape orientation; it’s a real pain to keep it in portrait mode when I’m using my tablet with its magic keyboard

  • Great app!
by Frtgtfrtgft on April 3, 2022 at 4:08 am

I have been studying kanji and vocabulary but this app puts it all together.

  • Good app but poor customer service
by LionCerberus on March 26, 2022 at 11:07 pm

This app is my normal go to for studying Japanese. I’ve increased my knowledge and understanding using this app. But the biggest issue I have is that I had. A bug that prevented the app to recognize the correct answers I submitted when doing a review. So it would mark them as incorrect and so, I’d have like 400 problems to do next review. This wouldn’t be an issue but half of them are the same problem. And I’ve emailed and reported this bug but have gotten poor customer service and responses to fix this issue and it’s been ongoing for a year. Other than that, this would be a 5 star app but the bug and poor customer service bring it down

  • So far so good
    by Lize35 on March 24, 2022 at 7:39 am

I already love the user interface and lesson structure compared to Duolingo. The lesson breaking down Hiragana and Katakana, are much clearer and give you much better examples of how to pronounce words than the mini lessons that Duolingo gives before shoving you into the deep end. Ironically I came here so I could get a better foundation on Hiragana and Katakana, but I might switch this to my main app for Japanese lessons.

Great app, only thing I don’t like is that it is not fully optimised for iPadOS.

  • I love this, here is a suggestion
    by silverseas8 on March 10, 2022 at 4:01 pm

I have nothing bad to say about this app but here is a suggestion! Maybe a flash card mode and you can pick what letters/sentences you want! (In case you're bad at I, R, Sa, Ku for example, maybe be able to pick only those and etc)

  • LOVE IT

  • I’m so happy with the app!
    by aptrn_119 on March 9, 2022 at 5:37 am

I have never seen such an underrated, amazing language app before! I downloaded this app when I had zero experience with Japanese. Couldn’t even pronounce う at that time haha! With a dedication and a week of practice everyday, I now can recognize and pronounce all hiragana symbols (instantly)! I’m so excited to progress through the rest of the app! I can’t wait to surprise my Japanese boyfriend with my new skills huhuhu~

  • I like it!

  • Could be even better!
    by lkbi91 on February 21, 2022 at 3:51 pm

I’ve been using this app alongside my Kanzen Master books to be more thorough. I’ve also downloaded JLPT apps. My only issue is that the app doesn’t have extra “practice” lessons that can reinforce your learning but other than that it’s amazing thank you

  • Great

This app has taught me so much. Really recommend specifically if you’re moving to Japan soon.

  • Great app!
by gamee is sooo relaxing on February 16, 2022 at 10:38 am

This app is great for beginners in Japanese like me. For Hiragana and Katakana they give you pictures to remind you of the characters. Everything is divided into sections which is also great. Overall good app!

  • Best learning app

I have never learned Japanese better!!!!! This is such an amazing app for learning Japanese that everyone should use! I definitely recommend Bunpo!!!!

  • 50 star app
by 0000 robux on February 13, 2022 at 4:32 am

I love this app because unlike all the other apps I tried it explained things like grammar and the alphabet. The other apps tell me a word and what it means then calls it a day. I’ll really hate that because that way I’ll never learn anything. I really suggest this app for whatever language you’re learning.
