"Decibel X" is the leading noise meter app on the market, which has highly reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and supports dBA, dBC. Our success lies at the intersection of expertise in sound communication, listening to our dear users, and our vision to build a great product. Our app turns your iOS device into a professional sound level meter, precisely measures the sound pressure level (SPL) all around you. While this pro tool mainly aids audio experts or workers prone to noise pollution, it can also add more fun and protect your hearing. Have you ever wondered how quiet your surroundings are or how loud is a rock concert or football match? "Decibel X" will help you answer all of those.

– Trusted accuracy: the app is tested and pre calibrated for all Apple devices. The precision is matching with real SPL devices
– Apple Watch support: see noise level right from your wrist
– Health App integration: export noise levels directly into Health app.
– Frequency weighting filters: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z
– Powerful, smart history data management:
+ Recording data can be saved into a list of history records for future access and analysis
+ Each record can be exported as hi-res PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services
+ iCloud support which synchronize all history records across your Apple devices
+ Fullscreen mode to give overview the whole history of an record
– Dosimeter with NIOSH, OSHA standards
– FFT and BAR graphs to display real time FFT. Those are very useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real time predominant frequency is also displayed.
– WAVE graph with 2 display modes: Rolling & Buffer
– InstaDecibel to capture your dB report overlaid on photos and easily shared via popular social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Messages, etc.).
– Support both Portrait and Landscape layouts
– Beautiful, intuitive and carefully crafted UI design
– Optimized for iOS 11

– Standard time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds) and FAST (200 milliseconds)
– Trimming calibration from -15 dB to 15 dB
– Standard measurement range from 30 dBA up to 130 dBA
– HISTO graph for plotted history of the recorded values
– Real time scale level chart
– Display Current, Average/Leq, and Max values with both nice and clear digital and analog layouts
– Quick reference text to help you compare with real-life examples
– "Keep Device Stay Awake" option for long duration recording
– Reset and clear current recording at any time
– Tap on Max value to reset at any time
– Pause/Resume the tool at any time

– Please do not expect a quiet room reading will be 0 dBA. The range 30-130 dBA is the standard usable range and an average quiet room will be about 30 dBA.
– Although all devices are pre-calibrated, custom calibration is suggested for serious purposes requiring higher precision and accuracy. You will need a real external device or calibrated sound meter as a reference, then adjust the trimming calibration until the reading matches with the reference.

  • Unusable without monthly subscription
    by TX.USA on June 26, 2022 at 11:17 pm

You only get a 3 day trial

  • Not free app… NIOSH is free app from CDC
by James Firz on June 23, 2022 at 5:38 am

Careful, I deleted app after trying and then it auto subscribed me… you cant cancel unless 1 day before 3 day renewal… so free to try for 48hrs then auto charges you. Very LAME Apple! “Didn’t you read” you may say… I say “apple, aren’t you about customers?”… what’s up with the 2 day trial then auto enrollment? NIOSH is free app from CDC… I’m using that instead.

  • Accurate
by Bad B-rad on June 23, 2022 at 1:20 am

Even compared this meter to a professional one at a large venue, same dB reading. Wow -

  • Only wanted one time use
by JayBeeEye on June 21, 2022 at 10:07 pm

Required subscription “purchase” is off putting and sneaky. Advertised as In App Purchases which means free to me. Further the app tells me I’m not registered despite Apple confirming “purchase”. Can’t seem to cancel now. Poor publication.

  • dB Meter
    by Rooster#1 on June 6, 2022 at 8:05 pm

This app found its way on my phone 4 years ago and although it wasn’t the best performing app at the time, I didn’t replace it. It worked adequately for my needs. Today November 2019, the dB Meter is quite improved and I can recommend it to all who have a need for such a device. Basically, a dB phone meter is at the mercy of it’s ability to interact with the mic on the phone. IMO, the makers of this app have sorted this issue. I’m on an iPhone 8 currently.

  • Very useful app for events
    by GreatSc0t on June 5, 2022 at 3:10 pm

I have a band and also do sound as a hobby in our community. This is a great troubleshooting app. It has always been reliable. I’ve used it for years.

  • Prevent hearing loss
by Rajannahn on May 25, 2022 at 8:22 am

Helps when to shut the sound proof windows to reduce road noise from vehicular traffic noise. This may prevent Ear damage and sleep better.

  • Like it!
by Paul E Martin on May 23, 2022 at 3:02 am

This seems so accurate and easy to use.

  • Used to be excellent but now…
    by Nickrog97 on May 21, 2022 at 8:38 am

This app used to be exactly what I wanted, a simple, easy to use decibel meter with different weightings and a visualizer to see the heaviest frequencies. Paid the one time for the full ad free app and went about my time. But just recently when I used the app, it didn’t let me play music at the same time as using the app, meaning I can’t measure the music being played in my car through my phone. I was spammed with messages to upgrade to some $4.99 a month subscription for idk what and to rate the app. So I have now. The dosimeter addition seems really nice but have yet to try it. I’m sure it works great but I paid money for this app and I’m upset I’m being bombarded with messages to pay a subscription.

  • Autobilling is immoral and you know it

Other than that the app is fine

  • Always crashes

Decent app. Too bad it literally closes every time I try to open it up.

  • Starting use.
by Acrobatic don on May 17, 2022 at 2:40 pm

Seems like a promising app. I have asked for help to get started using features. Will report as I learn.

  • No video duration option for iPad
by Mel Jozsa on May 16, 2022 at 11:18 pm

I paid for a monthly subscription and the video is still recording as seconds. No video option for longer duration.

  • Looks good
by Jhhhggffddddffgggh on May 16, 2022 at 2:11 pm

And easy to use But not very accurate. So it does everything well except the most important thing

  • Like app. Change pricing
by KabookieP on May 3, 2022 at 10:37 pm

I am a stereo guy so I use this for my listening volume. I use it often but not a lot of the super advanced features. Because I use it I feel it is right to pay for it but not on a subscription basis. Can there be a one time price option for us less than premium people?

  • Not a free app
by William Ross on April 26, 2022 at 5:31 pm

Misleading App Store listing. Unable to run app at all without subscribing to some payment plan. Worthless.

  • It works

It reads the decibels, and the UI looks cool. 12/10 would recommend:

  • Subscription
by unknownjenkins on April 8, 2022 at 4:46 pm

A subscription for a decibel meter? Extremely greedy. Rather a free one.

  • Bummer
    by LaRoe/Stacey on March 21, 2022 at 3:57 pm

What did I expect from a cheap app? I hoped it worked. Instead it gave me a one time use and then harasses me to upgrade thereafter-NOT HELPFUL (if you don’t mind paying extras, please don’t mind this review:)

  • Useful and interesting
by Snowballs on March 20, 2022 at 11:16 pm

Convenient and accurate for those occasional circumstances when noise or it’s absence becomes noticeable.

  • Don't bother, they have a surprise for you.
    by Dddd852 on March 17, 2022 at 3:50 am

They want you to try it – a free trial! Oh goody! There are way too many accurate tools on the Internet that are free, to ever need this one!

  • How I love Decibels
    by J16_Trader on March 17, 2022 at 3:22 am

I looooooooove the app because it measures how loud something is

  • Greed at it’s finest
by DCGoth on March 13, 2022 at 8:04 am

While the app is usable, the forced subscription model for premium features is a corporate cash grab. I’ve paid a good amount for professional sound software and would have no issue with paying a flat fee to unlock features, as I’ve done with other apps; however, the slow bleeding of the consumer is a joke. If I can’t pay a simple, singular, unlock fee, I’m not interested in being milked on a monthly or yearly basis. It’s not like this app provides updated monthly content, like a Netflix or Showtime app does. It simply unlocks features. Stop trying to cheat your customer base.

  • Did not work

Title says it all. This app is directly responsible for getting me arrested

  • Amp saver
    by LRS71 on March 6, 2022 at 3:01 pm

I was never impressed with my Denon 5.1 sound. I ran the auto set up multiple times with the small microphone in different viewing areas. After reading an article, I used this app, along with physical distances of each speaker to the viewer. Wow, day and night. Much better surround sound. My understanding is to bring all speakers to an equal level by adjusting the individual dbl of each speaker on the amp, using this app to measure the output. I had to lower the front to match the rear, however you can increase the volume once you are done balancing your system.

by RayzrzEdge on March 4, 2022 at 7:38 pm

I canceled before the end of the trial and was still charged

  • Solid app so far

Like all the features so far. Is there a way to toggle off and on the definitions of the DB level in the top left corner?
