Move beyond arithmetic with the Desmos scientific calculator! In addition to the basic operations, take advantage of a variety of built-in functions for exploring trigonometry, statistics, combinatorics, and more. Or, define and evaluate your own functions — all for free.

At Desmos, we imagine a world of universal math literacy where math is accessible and enjoyable for all students. To that end, we’ve built a simple yet powerful scientific calculator that runs on the same blazingly fast math engine as our next-generation graphing calculator, but with a more streamlined set of features, for those times when you just don’t need a graph. It’s intuitive, beautiful, and completely free.

Features:

Arithmetic: In addition to the basic operations, the scientific calculator also supports exponentiation, radicals, absolute value, logarithms, rounding, and percentages.

Trigonometry: Evaluate the fundamental trigonometric functions and their inverses, using either radians or degrees for angle measure.

Statistics: Compute the mean and standard deviation (sample or population) of a list of data.

Combinatorics: Count combinations and permutations and calculate factorials.

Other features:
– Works offline, no internet connection required.
– Create and evaluate your own functions using familiar function notation.
– Assign values to variables for later use.
– View multiple expressions at once. Unlike many scientific calculators, all of your previous work remains visible on the screen.
– The “ans” key always holds the value of your last computation so that you never have to remember or copy a result. If you change an earlier expression, the “ans” value updates automatically.
– Did we mention it’s free?

Impression and review of people to iPhone App [Desmos Scientific Calculator]!

  • Pretty good
by clnhlzmn on September 18, 2022 at 3:27 pm

This is the best calculator I have found for iOS yet. I have two relatively minor complaints, though. First it would be nice if the loading screen was eliminated. Certainly we don’t need to wait to load a calculator, do we? Secondly the options should be persistent. I like the larger button size and don’t want to have to adjust it each time.

  • Very good, but could have some improvements
by Ashleigh Peach on August 29, 2022 at 7:04 pm

This app is very good so far. However, here are my suggestions. “Expression open, “needs to be announced by voiceover whenever clicking into an active expression. Braille mode should not have to be toggled on and off in settings when using a braille display. of course, I am using an iPhone 8 plus. I have not downloaded the graphing calculator app yet, but I will do so when I can. I see this being helpful for my future students, and a replacement (if not an add-on) to the Orion TI 38 talking graphing calculator, and the Orion TI 34 talking scientific calculator.

  • Good, but doesn’t work correct for some problems.
    by @n0nym0vs69 on August 10, 2022 at 2:23 am

I don’t know how to fix this- but something like 10 (to the power of 9) • 8, the answer will be 8 x 10 (to the power of 9). Just switching the order and symbol (meaning the same thing.) How do I fix this? Thank you

  • reliable but needs design tweaks
    by Rambo8649 on July 8, 2022 at 9:33 pm

For the iPad, please make the keyboard larger so functions are all visible. with the larger display you have the opportunity to display more so users can input faster.

  • There isn’t a matrix calculator.
by Asus / Speedy on May 13, 2022 at 3:52 pm

My class is currently learning matrices and we are using the matrix calculator that desmos has. I go to download this app and see if it calculates matrices also, and turns out it does not.

  • Best calculator app
    by Wenninger227 on May 10, 2022 at 4:59 pm

Works awesome easy to understand and edit stuff never had any issues or ads. Just wish they’d add more functions over time! 10/10 great for physics class.

  • Should save preferences for button size and dark mode
by I want a Kia Stinger on April 8, 2022 at 1:09 am

It doesn’t save the preferences so I have to change them each time you open the app, default button sizes are too small.

  • Saved my life.

    Literal god of an app.

The best calculator out there. It can do anything!

  • Cool💪💪
by emoroeke on February 15, 2022 at 12:22 am

I love this app I normally use the computer version on the website. I wish there were orther features or maybe some customization options but that’s just me💪💪

  • Goated
    by patriotgamer07 on January 24, 2022 at 5:24 pm

A very nice little calculator, hey look, if you need one, use it. Ight? Biden might even be able to figure out 1+1 with this.

  • A stripped down version of the main app…
    by VTSMM-Apple on January 12, 2022 at 5:25 pm

And surprisingly good The buttons all function how they would with the regular Graphing Desmos app, though the functions listed here are accessible through the [func] button in Graphing Desmos Though, if you just want to do some scientific stuff with the calculator, it doesn’t fail to deliver Plus you get the nice equation bar without the display of the graph, allowing you to more comfortably punch in equations A nice app for a nice purpose; When you’re in a pinch & don’t have a Texas Instrument, this’ll do the trick

  • Almost There
by DarkOverSpy on December 14, 2021 at 12:54 pm

This is a great app, a standard scientific calculator with almost all the functions you will need. One complaint I have is that there is no log_(n) function. It’s very annoying to have to write loga/logn every time I want a base that is not 10. Please add this! Other than that, a great app, I use it all the time.

  • Love it but has an error
    by shorn84 on December 8, 2021 at 3:05 pm

Love everything about this calculator, but it has an error or glitch. The input of -3 squared gives an answers of -9, which is incorrect.

  • Ok

    Ok

  • My fourth evaluation finally wins!
by Fluffy Vampire on October 22, 2021 at 6:29 pm

I was looking for a calculator that would let me do some basic algebra, then take the arccos of the result and show the value in degrees. I thought it was a pretty simple ask but three other calculators failed me. Finally I found this one and my problem is solved. I’m docking one star because the UI got a little confused when I wanted to wrap a whole fraction In parentheses. It assumed I wanted to put them around the numerator or denominator. I fiddled around and eventually got it to work. In all it looks like a solid app.

  • One improvement
by Moarty Sanchez on October 7, 2021 at 5:47 am

I would like to be able to save the preferences for the dark theme and large font instead of changing the interface every time I use the app. Still the best calculator for iPad just add that settings function please.

  • No log base??
    by to0laroola on May 3, 2021 at 5:35 pm

Why is there no simple way to write the base of a log?? This calculator is hardly useful to me without that ability. Please add

  • Layout funky, ads horrible...
by tricem on April 15, 2021 at 8:49 pm

For anyone who has the muscle memory from using 10-key, this will infuriate you...and let’s not forget the slide-up ad that just always seems to know when you’re going for the ‘equals’ key, and pops right on up in front of it. I could go on and on about the ads, but that is the theme of these reviews, so not necessary. There are multiple other apps I would recommend before this one, but for educational purposes, Desmos is the most thorough and accredited...and exponentially better than this one.

  • Works for anything
by lacticlinden on March 5, 2021 at 6:43 pm

It is hard to find a good calculator to assist you in math, but this one is the one that really works for me.

  • ✨Amazing!✨
    by Zoey-Fairy on October 2, 2020 at 7:23 pm

I’ve been using Desmos on my school computer since 6th grade and I’ve never used anything else! I never knew there was an app or else I would have gotten it sooner! 10/10 and 5 stars, would recommend!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Getting me through precalc
    by stivencab3 on June 28, 2020 at 6:19 am

This is a great calculator. My only issue is the buttons are a bit small.

  • Very high quality calculator
by Aiden #1.4 on June 24, 2020 at 5:31 pm

I’ve looked at calculators on the App Store that had all functions like- fractions, exponents, and algebra equations, but was not able to find one. So, I’ve found Desmos. Since I’m going into the 8th grade, I need a calculator that had all functions. The Apple stock calculator is very good, but it doesn’t have fractions and exponents. Thank you for this app!

  • Great except buttons are small
by Vicuvicu on May 30, 2020 at 12:16 am

I really like the layout and functionality of this calculator. I would just like to see the buttons bigger as most of the screen is used for past calculations. I think maybe half screen for buttons and half for calculations would be much better! Thanks!

  • This is great...except
by AllDaLadiesLuvLeo on May 12, 2020 at 12:28 am

This is almost as good as my TI-84. However, I wish it had better support for copying and pasting into the calculator. The buttons are also way smaller than I’d like.

  • Would Recommend, 100%
    by Alygator7505 on April 28, 2020 at 9:17 pm

Sometimes my iphone calculator doesn’t work that well and ends up throwing off my answer entirely. Desmos makes things really simple and can prepare you for the future when you have to take state tests with it. Every high school student should have it. Thank you, Desmos 🙏🏻💗

  • My favorite scientific calculator
by not Kaleb on April 26, 2020 at 10:24 pm

I was very glad to find the Desmos Scientific calculator in the App Store. It has a wide range of usage and is very helpful. However my biggest complaint would be the buttons are too small. They should have an option of turning the screen horizontal and have the buttons be bigger

  • Bad
by Xavier A Corbin on March 31, 2020 at 8:16 pm

I’m using this for an online test and it won’t give me awnser to 3.14 * 10^-4 and it gives me my problem with a fraction bar number! I’m going to get grounded because of you guys making me fail school!

  • Best scientific calculator app that I know of
by jimmy d hehe on February 24, 2020 at 5:38 pm

    Yeet

  • Fantastic and simple!
    by Like_Ike on February 20, 2020 at 8:49 pm

I couldn’t find a calculator app that let me do cube roots easily and conveniently, until I found this one! It’s nice and clear, plus it provides most (if not all) functions I need!

  • Helps me soo much
by Tinkerbell 820 on January 14, 2020 at 10:06 pm

Helps me do my math homework and I think is extremely underrated love this app

  • Works ok but has flaws
by WhyFortnite?? on December 15, 2019 at 3:25 pm

Although it works perfectly with 7/8 grade math the numbers are far too small and is very hard to type

  • Only 4.6 MB, the most lightweight calculator I can find
    by i_wiz on December 13, 2019 at 7:05 pm

The Desmos calculator is fast and lightweight. I cannot find any other calculator which is smaller in size. It even has many scientific functions.

  • Scientific Notation???
by HurleyBurger on December 7, 2019 at 3:44 pm

Would be PERFECT if it had notation for scientific notation. Eg 1.2E4

  • Update please
by euhsjzlww on November 14, 2019 at 12:51 pm

Can we please have an update so we can hold the delete button if you get this message it would be helpful thank you

  • Decent app, needs more basic features
by FirstMartyred on September 19, 2019 at 4:19 pm

This app really needs to have options for displaying the answers in different formats, such as scientific notation, decimal vs fraction notation, etc. I would also love to see an “E” key, a common calculator shortcut for “*10^”, great for scientific calculations.

  • Great!
    by HSMfan<3 on July 23, 2019 at 7:32 pm

It’s better than most calculator apps I’ve used that has many reviews and higher stars! You can solve ANY problem. I don’t see any problems with the keyboards you just have to get use to it I’ve only been using it for 1 day and I love it! I recommend it to everyone.

  • I Have a question
by Veron. J on June 2, 2019 at 12:22 am

How can you change a decimal to a radical or exact value form?

  • The buttons are too small!!
by Aneericens on May 5, 2019 at 2:42 am

The buttons are too small wish I can adjust them by myself

  • Everything is great except...
by Jonathan Wellington on May 4, 2019 at 4:37 pm

... the keyboard really needs to be larger. Especially because the newer phones like the Xs and Xs Max have a lot of space and the keyboard on this app is optimized for something like the iPhone 5s. Please fix it, I got a plus sized phone for a reason.

  • Great app, and no ads!
    by rb116 on April 1, 2019 at 4:01 am

Every other calculator app has ads, this one doesn’t! One suggestion though is make the keypad bigger. All that open space at the top is a waste of real estate.

  • Wonderful
    by RonBot1996 on March 30, 2019 at 1:59 am

I love this calculator and use it all the time. I was wondering if you could add a feature that gives us the ability to save things to memory though. Whenever I close the app everything is lost.

  • Great
    by 00PT on November 29, 2018 at 10:19 pm

Works very well. I just have 1 thing to say. In the app, the section where the function history is shown seems far too large. And the buttons are too small. Perhaps you could implement some features in other calculators to fix this. For example, some calculators have you swipe down from the answer bar to view your function history. Also, there seems to be no way of using subscript like on the computer version. Although it is present in the graphing calculator app. Also, the median function is missus in this app where it is present in the graphing calculator app. And I would like to suggest a function for the mode of a set of data.

  • Calculated

My kids hate this app because they hate math
