- Beginnerby kittycat.love on June 21, 2022 at 8:21 pm
I wanted to learn how to play guitar so I thought to try this app. Not only do they teach you how to play the guitar they make it fun, for example, they give you riffs from the song path you choose. Meaning, I choose the rock path and it gave me a short riff from another one bites the dust. This makes me want to continue playing the guitar and make me excited about it. Fender guides you and breaks it down for you, you won’t get it right away but practice makes progress. So I highly suggest this app!!
- Impossible to get what Fender promisedby Molsenmotorsport on June 16, 2022 at 10:44 pm
Bought a Fender guitar it said I would have Fender play for 30 days free. Could only get 7 days. At the end of 7 days decided to take advantage of discount price and 50 % discount I earned. There was no option to apply discount and then Apple was involved for some reason and they screwed up my credit card payment. 3 strikes for Fender. If I had known that they lie about everything they offered I would not have even purchased their guitar.

Fender Play has helped me learn guitar and become an expert and many topics. It doesn't cover all the things you need to learn about guitar but it covers the basics and above. Its a great tool for first time players and players that already know a bit of guitar this is amazing! it also teaches ukulele and bass guitar! great tool and would recommend!
- Lefty Support Lackingby mhpdfp on June 4, 2022 at 9:25 pm
So far I like the app but southpaws should get a discount for the lack of support. The multiple emails a day are a bit much but if I win a free guitar all will be forgiven (if it’s a lefty)

- Like having a guitar instructor 24/7by Santa Cruz shredder on May 17, 2022 at 11:07 pm
I have always dabbled in trying to learn guitar, but have never really advanced from novice to intermediate level. Fender Play’s lessons along the Rock Path make me feel that someday that will happen. It’s very convenient having the lessons on your phone, the lessons are organized well, and it’s well worth the $50 bucks for a year subscription.
- Great valueby JEllen* on May 13, 2022 at 1:56 am
Best money I have ever spent! Have made a lot of progress, despite the fact that I had not touched a guitar in over 30 years. The lesson arrangements are at a nice pace & they have restored my music playing confidence. The instructors install confidence, which is something I need. THANKS!

Only been playing guitar a few days and absolutely love this platform. I’m light years aahead of where I thought I would be all attributed to how well the training material and exercises are structured. A must for any beginner.

- Login Problems & Subscription Problemby Neer Do well on April 14, 2022 at 9:28 pm
In all it’s a great app, when it lets you log in. I finally decided to get a subscription so I choose plan. Got a message stating that signing up for the subscription was successful. Next window pops up asking to choose a plan or sign in. So each time I signed in It kept displaying the message, Choose a plan. And I check my subscription list in my settings and it shows up as currently subscribed to Fender play. I already contacted customer support and I have yet to hear back. The four stars are for when it works and let’s you sign in. When it was free it worked very well. So if it’s ok with Fender let go back to the free trial at least then it let me login.

- So helpful!by Maribel0910 on April 1, 2022 at 11:36 pm
Years ago I tried learning guitar with an in person teaching and eventually felt defeated and stopped. I decided recently to try again and have been using my fender and it makes me feel accomplished, working towards a goal in getting better/learning guitar and very well spoken from each mentor within the app! I’m excited to learn and overcome challenges !

- Great app!! Thanks guys!!by Annemikke on March 26, 2022 at 10:28 am
This app is great! It’s simple, easy to follow, clear and concise. Thanks for going the extra mile to point of important basics such as placement of fingers closer to the fret wire and why that’s important. This is well put together!! 👌🏻

- Learn at my paceby Macpicker on March 15, 2022 at 9:15 pm
I’ve enjoyed the flexibility I have of learning to play at my speed and as my schedule allows. Being able to go back and review as needed helps too.
- Wish it included music notationby rf20182022 on March 14, 2022 at 8:41 pm
Fender Play has short lessons that will help a beginner improve. However, it does not include the music notation, but relies on tabs instead. This has been frustrating to me and I am often unsure of what the instructions are for a piece, especially with regards to rhythm. Use of music notation would remove this frustration. Moreover, music notation is very easy to learn. Fender Play would be improved if music notation wee included at least as an option.
- Fender Did It!!!by poopsie g on March 12, 2022 at 4:25 am
I’m 54 and I’ve tried to learn the guitar ten different times in my life. Sometimes I’d last a week or two, other times I’d get down and drop it in days. This app and this program has broken through my mind and given me great confidence! The teachers are all so calm and encouraging and it’s at your own pace. Thank you Fender! Now I must go practice chord changes!
- Ok butby sczzzzguy on March 11, 2022 at 12:32 am
Good lessons but not being able to print out chord progressions or words make it almost unusable.

Fender Play has been the BEST instruction for someone like me in my mid to late 50’s trying to learn to play guitar. I have had fender play just over a year now and it’s been great being able to repeat or move on if I feel ready or even sometimes just feeling I need to move on to do something new. My fingers aren’t the best in transition, but I can tell that I have gotten better in the last year by quite a bit. I’m just still very raw I guess due to my age and never having played before. I love the instructors throughout all the levels and I love that all the lessons are like quick hitters and then you practice and then they teach you a riff from so many different songs. I just hope I can see this through and actually be playing someday even this late in my life.
- Great place to start!by td4wg77 on February 27, 2022 at 8:04 pm
I am completely new to learning an instrument other than the 2 weeks in Jr. high on a sax., so when I was given a Epiphone SG and an amp because I have always been curious to play I was like now what? I started browsing and searching the net and found descent reviews of Fender play and I was familiar with their name of guitars so I tried the trial and after it was over signed up and have been moseying along ever since. I can go at whatever pace I need for the week the hard part is trusting in the method but if you let go and just do the modules it will start to come together. I also got a basic theory book on rock and blues helps set up a practice regiment with Fender play.
- Paid for subscription but the app wont workby cleothebose on February 24, 2022 at 2:46 am

- Yousician has more flexibility in the practice modesby Vrunyan on February 11, 2022 at 4:20 am
I’d like to be able to speed up the practice modes to beyond 100% when I feel like they’re too slow. But overall I feel like Fender has a lot more explanations and music theory taught.
- So disappointed in choices!by KPuppy26 on February 9, 2022 at 6:41 pm
I was so excited to try this app. However your variety of musical selections are missing the mark. There are absolutely no contemporary Christian or traditional hymns available at all! Also, only a handful of child appropriate music. Christmas??? Deleted your app because of this.
- Not trustworthyby v.Lichok on February 2, 2022 at 2:59 pm
I signed up for the service at the first 14 days free with the understanding they would renew my subscription at $49.99. The 14 days expired no renewal was made. The app instructed me to either sign up for $99 a year or $14.99 a month. I’m not paying $99 a year for this app when they originally told me I could have it for $49.99. I “contacted support” via the app explaining The situation. No response. Junk. Stay away.

- Best guitar learning appby reggaelove77 on January 25, 2022 at 3:03 pm
Hi, I absolutely love this app. I started learning guitar at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. This app helps me learn the chords for songs I’d like to play and helps with the strumming patterns too. One thing I’d like to ask is could you add a Reggae section for guitar and ukulele? Or just for guitar please? Reggae music is my favorite and I’d like to learn how to play it. Thank you!
- Must be “online”by dTERM78 on January 25, 2022 at 12:11 am
There is no offline mode. How pathetic that an app that is this expensive will not let you download lessons. I live and work on a ship. I want to practice in my cabin, where I get no cell signal. It makes this app 100% useless.
- disappointedby Jjjjjjjjjjskwmsixmajdxj on January 24, 2022 at 2:25 am
I’ve been playing guitar for six years now, I taught myself using books and YouTube. I’m now a second year in college majoring in music and I’m writing my own songs. I’ve seen a lot of advertisement for this app so I thought I’d check it out, and I didn’t see anything difficult or useful. It would be a great app for a beginner if it was way cheaper. The only thing the app is good for is the 10% discount on fender products. If you wanna learn guitar through videos use YouTube, it’s free and the videos have way more detail.
- Missing songs and boring teachingby earate on January 23, 2022 at 12:30 am
There are some big artists and songs you are missing in this app, and I think that the way you teach me is too boring. I wouldn’t bother paying to learn guitar from this app.
- Good well producedby bubbarubba99999 on January 22, 2022 at 10:14 pm
First time guitar player (coming from piano) and I think this learning app is very well produced. I've taken similar self learn courses like Melodics and I have to say I find Fender's overall content very well structured and far better with human instructors explaining the key takeaway. Fender has put in a great effort here.

Great for beginners and intermediate players. The videos may seem a bit cringy first, but the content is so professional and you get bass+guitar at one subscription. Works for us at home as we have both. Give it a try
- Good Appby caaarlooo$ on January 14, 2022 at 3:13 am
Would give 5 stars if they didn’t make it a hassle to cancel a subscription with Fender. They should give you an option to cancel through the app! I signed up on Android and now on iPhone. All Fender does is give you irrelevant information on how to cancel! I’ve tried the mobile apps on android, iOS, and website. None have a simple cancel option! Even though this is a good app, they shouldn’t make it difficult for their customers to cancel. Especially when they have been loyal for a year! They don’t give you a cancel option!
- Bought a subscription but stuck in select a plan screen - editby LoL XD 2018 on January 13, 2022 at 10:18 pm
I recently purchased the annual subscription for Fender Play. However, whenever I go back to the app, it tells me to choose a subscription and won’t let me go further. After clicking, again, the annual subscription a message pops up saying: “You are currently subscribed to this”. Edit: took time to get the subscription but eventually it worked. App works great, and as a beginner, it is quite helpful. Will update when I am further into the program.

Update history of iPhone App [Fender Play – Learn Guitar]
Our engineers Philip, Mai, and Sean have entirely re-architected our tablature engine from scratch. I hope that sounds like a lot of work—because it was! All tabs appearing on the Lesson screen will load faster and show more notes in the same space. Keep practicing, and look out for more tab improvements in the coming months.
