Users love it:
“Just so you know, this app has changed my 86 year old mother's life. It is simple and easy for her and her friends to use. This is so important for the elderly since so many other apps are way too complicated. She can really have one on one conversations, especially with me, which is so very important.”
– Mark M

Doctors trust it:
"I use this w my HOH senior patients when the hearing aides aren't even enough to compensate for the hearing loss. This works great. I have recommended it to my nursing/CNA staff to use as well.”
– Istariken

Not that great. Words not transcribed properly.

by Disappointed 34 on August 20, 2021 at 1:28 am

I’m very pleased with Live Transcribe on my IPhone! People are often reluctant to use it for fear I am recording them but it gets me through appointments and even some video conference calls. I’m have CI and a UP hearing aid and still often need help with what is said and this is the best I have found

  • Paid App
    by bija10 on August 1, 2021 at 4:22 pm

If it’s a paid app, say it’s a paid app. Hate downloading an app to find no way to test it without a subscription.

  • Great app but would really like to use in family sharing!
    by 60 + marriage on July 31, 2021 at 11:45 am

My husband has been severely hearing impaired for more than 40 years. Usually his hearing aides provide all the help he needs. However they stopped functioning and it was very upsetting to him. We could not get him in to the doctor nor to a hearing aid shop for replacement or repair in a timely fashion. I thought there had to be something so went to the App Store and after trying several apps settled on this app. We are very pleased and when our audiologist saw it she was very impressed and wrote down all the information. The speed and accuracy of the transcription are two of the things that particularly impressed her. I would give it five stars but if I want to talk to my husband when he does not have his phone I have to have it on my phone also. So when the trial is over I will be having to drop my subscription. Nevertheless it is a great app!

  • Rip off
by okaywhereismymoney on July 24, 2021 at 8:45 am

I didn’t mean to sign up for this I was just checking out the app through the free trial. Was in the hospital and didn’t have my phone so I couldn’t cancel. They automatically charged me for a years subscription. The could of at least charged me the minimum or for like one month not twelve. I still want my money back. I never even opened it after I downloaded the app. That’s not fair

  • Only works where I Don’t need it!
by DustyJim on July 17, 2021 at 2:58 am

Range is extremely short and even then doesn’t translate very accurately. Works ok when it’s quiet and just a couple of people, but that’s not where I need it. Took it to a meeting where I was only about 6 feet from the speaker and got nothing at all. Tonight at a dinner, it worked fair for about ten minutes and then decided it needed to download SPANISH and wouldn’t do ANYTHING till I was back on a WiFi connection again. This is a real battery killer and makes the phone get so hot you wouldn’t want to pick it up. I suspect that it is linking with Siri because my battery usage meter said SIRI used 28% of my charge today, and I didn’t use Siri at all. Not going to renew after this month is used up. Sorry, but this didn’t help me at all.

  • Not using app.!
    by toe234 on July 12, 2021 at 7:18 pm

I downloaded the app and read where there was 7 day trial then get charged. I immediately deleted the app. It’s hard enough to be deaf without being charged!!!

  • My husbands hearing loss
by prayersanswered on June 26, 2021 at 12:44 am

Last Saturday my husband woke up about five am the usual time he gets up turned to me and said I can’t hear a thing when he tried to get up he was extremely dizzy I called our dr he said it’s some inner ear thing I’ll see him Monday since he has no pain. All day Saturday and Sunday he was miserable not able to keep his balance but especially not able to hear anything thing at all..I banged a spoon against a pan he heard nothing. Monday our dr sent us to a specialist my husband had no wax, fluid in the ear or inflammation the dr said it is a rare condition that not much is known about it he injected steroid into his ears that didn’t work as of today he was started on oral steroids. The specialist showed me this app so that I could communicate with my husband it has been a God send. Now I pray his hearing is restored or at least some of his hearing restored 🙏🏻. Thank you so much for this amazing app. Lilly

  • The BEST transcribe app!
by HeatherChast on May 26, 2021 at 4:46 pm

I went searching for this app when my grandfather went deaf at age 92. It’s been a dream. Can’t say enough nice things!

  • Works!
by That computer guy 1212 on May 22, 2021 at 3:40 pm

I’ve just started using it but so far it’s working pretty well. Because this app relies on Siri technology and Siri requires you to say punctuation, this app does not automatically insert punctuation unlike Google’s unrelated live transcribe for android, Other than that, this app is a good aid for people who are deaf or hard of hearing (along with their relatives and loved ones)!

  • A great assist for the hard of hearing
by Hearing Champ on May 20, 2021 at 12:02 pm

I lost 50% of my hearing last year due to a reaction from strong medicine. I was at a loss as to how to communicate with my wife. A friend recommended Live Transcribe. I now have one Live Transcribe loaded on an old iPad we weren’t using, and have placed it permanently on a table between where she sits and me. I connected an external directional microphone (the Rode “VideoMicMe”) and directed it to my wife. I leave Live Transcribe on the entire time we are in the family room. (You will need to have your iPad connected to external power). The only problem we have is occasional confusion between my wife talking and the TV. She just mutes the TV to talk. I also find the iPhone version indispensable for doctor visits and other one on one conversations. Maybe this will work for you, too!

  • Love it\hate it
by JoJo Baggins on May 16, 2021 at 4:07 pm

When conditions are optimal, quite, close to the speaker the App works great!! AND I completely depend on it. But when there is background noise or we are too far away from the speaker, it doesn’t work as well either. I want to try it with microphone and see if it works better.

  • It is ok but wish it were better
by Signlaw on May 10, 2021 at 8:57 pm

This episode can’t but it’s only about 90% accurate I wish it was more accurate than that.

  • Didn’t work
    by hiker101 on May 5, 2021 at 11:30 pm

I use Google Live Transcribe on my phone. Thought this might be the same thing but Apple hasn’t done the work that google has done. So it doesn’t work on my iPad. Worthless.

  • Medical dictation
by Dr. Jophlin on April 21, 2021 at 11:13 am

I use live transcribe for dictating patient notes. I never dictate any protected health information,Just a history of present illness. It is huge timesaver because my hospital does not have Dragon dictation and I feel like having a scribe is just not my style. I’m an extremely slow typist. This app does have some typos but if I speak clearly it usually works out fine. I’m sometimes amazed at the medical jargon that it recognizes. This app is well worth the money.

  • My girlfriend is hard of hearing
by Safe driver! on April 14, 2021 at 1:52 pm

This is a great app! Real time speech recognition is paramount for people who are in a relationship with someone who is hearing impaired. My girlfriend is hard of hearing, and the only time I can be sure she hears everything is if it’s read. I get frustrated sometimes when I have something important to say, but she doesn’t hear me. And instead of asking me to repeat myself, because she’s so nice, she agrees and nods. That works most of the time but I know she’s just being nice when I ask a question and she nods in agreement. I sometimes act like I didn’t ask a question, as to not make her aware that I know.

  • Recent total hearing loss
    by jb93003 on April 4, 2021 at 5:43 pm

This is a sanity saver. However, we’re hoping for the app to learn as we go. My voice is loud and sharper than my husband’s. His voice has more softness. My voice is translated very well. But I’m the one who needs to hear from him, and translation from a soft voice is much less accurate. His soft-toned voice is often garbled. It does help if he is closer to the iPad or mobile phone and slows his speech some. The app does what it is supposed to do, so I give it 4 stars. There is room for improvement so can’t give 5 stars (I’ve heard). Thank you.

  • It’s great for one on one, especially for a medical reason.
by Adealg on April 1, 2021 at 6:12 pm

It’s been very useful for deaf people like me for a medical reason. It works great for one on one but not at the dinner table.

  • Expensive for infrequent use
by Twilightfire on March 30, 2021 at 7:13 pm

I am Deaf and was looking for a speech to text app. Didn’t read anything in the app store that said this was a paid subscription. It’s $5 a month! Pretty expensive for an app I will only use once in a while. None of my apps are this expensive. Using Notes on iPhone is free. Bummer because this looks really cool.

  • Missing words
by DrStem on March 14, 2021 at 1:03 am

I notice during the translation to words it misses and misspells a lot of the words so I hav Efi go back delisted and correct a lot but better than listening and writing all words from scratch

It has made my life and relationships much easier. I’m sharing it with all my friends who have difficulty hearing. God bless all of you!

    by DJ7055 on February 24, 2021 at 12:31 am

It is garbling with words that does not make any sense. I need voice to text from listening to my mother’s Answering machine. It wont work at all. I am very disappointed and helpless.

  • The Captioning Stopped at the Beginning ofMy Event
by Cinshhh on February 13, 2021 at 9:31 pm

I guess I will have to go back to Otter. This was unacceptable, with the captions just stopped early on during event. When they were working they were less accurate and fast than Otter.

  • I’m not impressed
    by Daves1975 on February 10, 2021 at 12:25 am

My mother used this app. I went to visit her and I put the free 14 day trail version. If the free version was supposed to impress me, it didn’t. It was kept messing up what I would say. It got frustrating when it got the translation wrong. I had better translation with iMessage. I don’t not like it. I think the translation to be better like I said iMessage work better than this app. I did like the fact you can split sentences when it ends. See what else is out there before you get this app.

  • Useless
    by firesprite1105 on January 11, 2021 at 4:47 pm

I’m severely hearing impaired and had high hopes for this app since all my work conferences are not closed captioned. This app wasn’t able to caption a single thing. I am also not thrilled that I was billed $50 for a yearly subscription after 7 days instead of $5 for a month. I cancelled immediately, but I’m still out of $50, so be warned!

  • Sudden deafness
    by 🍇🍉🍏🍋 on January 9, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I had surgery and two days later became deaf. We began using the notes app and it was most helpful and then I looked to find something better and came across this app and gave it a try. It has been a life saver and has connected me back with my family and now I spend more time thinking about living versus dying. I would say transcribe technology has save my life. 47 year old male Bank President and CEO

  • Appreciate
by AliciaAurora on January 9, 2021 at 1:31 am

I appreciate using Live transcribe because this app helps me communicate with my 93 year old mother who is deaf. It’s been a life saver, especially when we go to doctors’ appointments because with live transcribe my mom can follow the conversation and answer questions with ease. We appreciate the ease and the reliability of this wonderful product. Live transcribe offers my mother a better way to communicate and that is wonderful because making the world more accommodating for disabled persons is a very important endeavor.

  • Not worth $5 and definitely not $50
    by Awesommeeee👍 on December 27, 2020 at 11:59 am

I have tried this app over and over and still it’s not anywhere near what they claim. I have an iphone SE and unfortunately I let the free trial run out before this app renewed for $50 and I couldn’t be more unhappy with it. I honestly cannot use it for more than a few minutes because it simply does not caption speech as touted. I contacted support and their only advice was to try it with an external mic. I read lips 100% and not sure that I can always plug in a separate mic for conversation. Spend your money on Otter which is awesome!!!!!

  • Doesn’t help me
    by Tamani4259 on December 26, 2020 at 5:23 pm

I have tried at least three apps like this. This one I wouldn’t even consider paying for. I am glad so many people get help with it but I don’t get the same result.

  • Don’t waste your time or money
by RJNielsen on December 16, 2020 at 5:54 pm

This has never worked for me. I’m in IT and support iPhones and iPads! LiveTranscribe keeps crashing with various errors on iOS 13.7. kFAssistantError Domain Error 1700, etc. Get Ava instead, as it’s reliable and free.

  • Won’t work with TV
by Cmmmmmc on December 13, 2020 at 2:32 pm

Doesn’t work and they make canceling the subscription difficult so you end up getting charged $54. Feels like a rip off

  • Awful
by Shefitza on December 10, 2020 at 2:23 pm

The translation from English to Romanian is terrible. Plus when you speak English it doesn’t even say the right thing you’re saying. Deleting it.

Wonderful app. I use to record voice mail messages on my answering machine. Also have greatly enhanced my conversations with customers. I am 90 percent deaf. This App is what has been needed. If people try it they will succeed in hearing thru visual. I will promote this App strongly. I am 80 years old and simple to use. Terry W Bass Helena, Montana

  • Absolutely awful
by LibraRising on November 28, 2020 at 6:02 am

I turned up the volume up of my laptop and placed my phone right by the speaker. Not only did it mess up every single word of a college-level academic video, it included profanity. This is not equal access by any stretch of the imagination.

  • I love this Live Transcribe app!!
    by Liz B T on November 25, 2020 at 11:47 pm

I've been searching for a way to transcribe voice into written text for my 92-year-old, deaf mother. I just found Live Transcribe and downloaded the App to my Iphone. I have a 1-week free trial period before it renews to a 1-year subsctiption for $49.99, which I feel is very reasonable. Mom and I tried it and are elated that it works so well! I am going to tell EVERYONE about this app--especially her doctors and dentists!! My sister's going to put it on her Ipad. We're SO excited, you'd think it was Christmas!! Thank you for making our lives so much easier!!
