Link can provide peace of mind by sharing timely updates about your loved one. You can check in with them when you want, from anywhere, without disturbing them – helping them maintain the independent life they love.

Exclusive features help them stay independent and you feel reassured
Once you accept the invite from your loved one and successfully set up Link, you’re able to access the following features:

Receive Emergency Alerts
Link will send you notifications for selected actions including when Urgent Response is utilized, allowing you to make decisions quickly and follow up without delay.

Retrieve Location
When the locator permissions are on you will see your loved one’s location on a map and receive updates if they change location. These general updates happen approximately every 20 minutes.
In an emergency, First Responders get location updates every 30 seconds.

Check Activities
Based on information in the Personal Profile, see if appointments are being kept and receive other reports about their activities.

Check Device Status
Get peace of mind knowing your loved one always has access to a professional in the event of an emergency. Link will let you know the device Battery Status. You’ll also be notified when the battery is low so you can remind them to recharge or replace the battery and stay connected.

    After the 4.3.1 update this app no longer works. It doesn’t update the location of the phone or the status of the phone. Before this update it worked fine for what it was designed. It is working much better now. Had to turn phone off completely and then back on.

    Version 4.5 is not as good as the previous version because when you are using the “View on a Map” function and you “update location”, the map image no longer automatically adjusts to show the new location; you have to exit the map display for the image to refresh, then return to the page, which is very annoying when you’re needing to follow where a loved one with Alzheimer’s is heading, as I sometimes need to do for my mom.

    It is ridiculous to have to have an 11 for app use. They certainly don’t tell you that when selling the system. That’s a pretty important part of the system.

    After the last update 4.3.1 it won’t let me log on and just constantly shows the link symbol if it loads at all. Tried uninstalling the app and then reinstalled to no change or success. Very disappointed that there is no access to the services promised to be provided.

  • Frustrating lack of Location Accuracy

    I’ve called their tech support multiple times over the past weeks and months, but to no avail. Imagine getting notifications all hours of night and early morn that an elderly loved one is “out and about”? Imagine going to activity record to see they have come and gone from their home multiple times... and knowing that it is all inaccurate. I cannot trust the accuracy of this app and highly recommend against it.

    The link to my 90 y/o mama’s phone hasn’t worked for 2 days. It will not locate her. Great Call can’t even force an update. Don’t know what was “fixed” but now it is really broke. I depend on this app my mama still drives. I’m NOT happy.

    It has been helpful, being able to mostly keep up with my family members whereabouts. We do not use all the features such as notifications about his medications and doctors appointments though I have suggested that to him. The price is not particularly expensive and it has been worth it, however sometimes it is not accurate. For some reason on occasion it lists his location as being in the Bronx zoo when he is not there. At first I thought perhaps he had driven by there and was somewheres nearby on the road but this was not the case; for a few days it actually seem to be the default for his location erroneously. Not sure what that was all about but it has not happened for a while seems that occurred over the course of a few days.

    My mom lives by water. When she’s at home, it will randomly say she’s out at the same location every time - a shopping mall in Bainbridge Island several miles across the Sound. Then 30 min later it puts her back home, then back to the other side another 30 minutes later. Customer service can’t fit it so it’s just unreliable. Hope she doesn’t have an emergency.

    Used to work but lately it has daily problems. We have contacted them but it is getting worse. These are worn by our elderly family members!! If the app doesn’t work how do we know someone will respond if they need help?

    I bought great call for my dad because he just got released from rehabilitation after a severe hip fracture. I chose this product so I could monitor my dad from afar. IT DOESNT WORK!!! I’ve called three times now. Don’t let them sell you on the app. Major disappointment and now I have to worry my dad is actually charging the battery.... I also placed a call on the device and it still shows zero calls after all the data refreshes.

    Very slow to update location. It says my mom is out and about even when home. Battery status will not update. New Lively + made no difference, possibly worse.

    First, I hardly ever got accurate alerts, then they did an update and I was getting a notification about once an hour all night long, and all day! All alerts that she was home! Then there was an update and I was hoping it would fix the constant barrage! Oh no! It made it worse! I now get 12 notifications at one time saying she is home! And then an hour later, 8 notifications in a row saying she is home! I don’t want to turn the notifications off, because I do want to know when there is a change from the normal! But when the alerts are constantly going off, am I going to even notice it when there is an actual issue? We do all remember the story The Boy Who Cried Wolf?!

    We recently purchased the lively phone for my mother. The location tracking is useless. It takes 30 minutes or more to update. It says she is out and about when she is at home. I called customer support to update the home location, but it is still not right. I am afraid we have made a bad choice with Great Call

    Thought the update would finally fix the “communication” issue. No such luck. Paying for a device that does not register with the app. Please fix. As a caregiver, I depended on the app to let me know if parent’s device was charging or not. Please fix!

    1. Never shows current location, just where Mom was 50 minutes ago! (Useless location information) 2. Every time we call C/S they recommend a hard reboot! (Difficult for Seniors losing fine motor skills) 3. App only refreshes after device has been rebooted! 4. When tapping the “refresh” button on the app (iPhone 6+ w/ all updates) it NEVER refreshes. Just keeps spinning even if using high speed Wifi ! 5. C/S Reps- some are good - others talk WAY too fast to be of any help to an 85 yr old w/ hearing aids! Even when asked to slow down 🙁 6. Mom was lost for 4 hours and we couldn’t find her!!! Neither could the app!!! 7. Today is 20 Oct 2020. The app says battery status from October 16. It was charged (again) today and the app STILL says check device status 🙁 Closed & re-opened app. No update. Deleted & reinstalled app. No update. Rebooted cell phone. No update. iPhone is up to date & the app is as well. Still says check device status. 8. TWO calls to customer service were dropped in the middle of trouble shooting. Neither agent called us back. Very concerning since this is supposed to be a MEDICAL ALERT DEVICE! What if our elderly parent called for help ? Would that call drop too? I suspect so, sadly. 9. We are in a large town. Not in the sticks. I wonder why the calls keep dropping?!?!? 10. Data should update every 20 minutes according to app description. It’s been 30 minutes now since the last update 🙁 Very disappointing.

    The October update has now left me with a battery message that says “The device battery status is unknown. The device status indicated below may be outdated. Check back later or contact the device owner.” She charges it every night and it is charged, but I’m not getting indicators anymore saying it’s charging or fully charged .... Satisfied with the device, but the folks can’t seem to get the app right. Sometimes the updates help and sometimes they create new problems.

    Customer support is nice enough. App stopped working weeks ago. Despite hours on the phone with support, still not works. Finally, after complaining and posting 1 star, app is now working. Hopefully will continue.

    We got this for my dad who has dementia and it is consistently unreliable. It rarely reports when he leaves the house even though the battery is fully charged and we have checked the device settings. It is incredibly frustrating

    It consistently shows the unit is charging but he’s wearing it!! Only saving grace, GPS and call detection works. The unit itself is okay (from what I can tell). Developers need to work in app-it’s horrible!! Update: increased stars due to customer service. Received email and follow up in timely manner. Our reception is the issue not the app so I can’t fault the company. In fact pretty impressed with customer service

    If I could give a zero star, I would. The Lively Plus my father had was no longer functioning, so it was replaced. All I get now is the battery is critically low. Finally got it working, however location is pretty much useless. It has him out and about 1/4 mile away when I know he's in his apartment since it's on lockdown with the coronavirus. Worthless

    I have had numerous problems with the GreatCall Link app and numerous calls to the call centers have not resolved to issue. I get numerous false alerts of my mother being “out and about” all times of the day and night. I’ve called and sent emails using the “contact us” option in the phone app and have received no response. Today I called (again) and was told they stopped monitoring emails from that link last week. I also learned there is no consistent/central tracking of user issues. Each time I’ve called I’ve gotten a different technician and each one gives a different explanation. This has been a terrible experience. GreatCall Link is currently non-functional.

    Very disappointed in this app. Wondering if the company is considering dropping this service? The graphics and service within the app have been downgraded. The recent changes have made the map less detailed and unable to refresh/update with no way to know the real time current location. This is not a good choice for those caregivers interested in using this service as a way to help their seniors age in place.

    I’ve had the Great Link app for a few years. It was great for knowing if my elderly father was out and about or more importantly if he had to call for assistance with an emergency. But with the app redesign, the location services feature doesn’t work as well. It shows where he was a couple of hours ago and when I try to refresh the location it just sits there - no feedback that it’s refreshing and I never get a refreshed location.

    The new version from a week ago does not connect. It sits on a screen that has the Link logo and never goes further. I called the support line and she said to call my iPhone support. All other things on my phone work. Who can support the app for GreatCallLink ?

    Does not work at all, doesn’t even open. Have to delete and re install and it does nothing. Can’t change anything in settings. Can’t do anything. Close it and try to open it again and it doesn’t open. Emailed them twice and no answer.

    The map no longer shows a satellite view which was essential for locating users who take walks along trails or in other areas without roads. That is why I got the device and app. The app is also providing inaccurate location info, describing the mapped location as an address miles away from the pinned location. Which of these will be provided to rescuers, if they are contacted? The new design also requires you to do multiple steps to accomplish what was easily viewable at a glance in the previous version. Please return battery status and location to home page. I should not have to pull up the map to see current location or click on device to see battery charge or confirm that it is in the charger at night. I also miss the nice pictures that made the original app nice to look at. Fortunately, I haven’t updated my iPhone app yet, so will delete this new version from my iPad and keep using the old one p, at least until they fix these issues.

    This new app update looks like a third grader used it. We’ve used the app 3 years for my mom. The phone app use to look professional and had satellite views. This new app is not an upgrade but down grade. Cheap looking in-professional in appearance is way under stated. PLEASE JUST GO BACK TO YHE PROFESSIONAL LOOKING OLDER APP. MAY JUST CLOSE ACCOUNT SND SEND IT BACK. LORD WHO PROGRAMMED THIS NEW APP. ITS TERRIBLE.

  • Notifications inaccurate

    We kept getting multiple notifications every day saying my MIL was at a certain location when we knew that wasn’t true - especially when we were with her at the time. Customer service said to delete any locations within 2 miles of her home base as that could be a problem. She’s 87 years old for crying out loud! Every place she goes is within 2 miles of her house! I kept deleting locations one by one until there were none left and we STILL get multiple notifications per day saying she is in a location I deleted from her profile 4 months ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from my iPhone and iPad and pc many times without a resolution. We just gave up. At least the fetching current location feature seems to work.

    Today , Monday November ,18. Link shown me at home 7:34 am,at doctors at 5:54 am,4:14 am at home,2:34at doctors office,1:34 at home. I have been at home since yesterday and not at my doctors office. The problem has not been resolved. I told my family to disregard what the link indicates because it is not correct. Now it shows me at my daughter and home back and forth at all times. I live about 8 miles from daughter home. I do not believe that the problem will ever be fixed. Removing link and told my daughter to delete it as well. Hope some that use this app have better luck. Great call must be unable to fix their app.

    The Lively device appears to be discontinued as I am unable to order a replacement. GreatCall only offers the cell phone as a replacement. The new Lively device has been on their website as “Coming Soon” for months, but with no expected launch date. The GPS location tracker always shows my relative at home - even after long trips away from home. The only way to force the device to “ping” and update is by pressing the button on the Lively device. Also, the fall sensor is way too sensitive. Hoping the new Lively device launches soon and fixes some of the issues the current Lively device has.

    Every time I reach for my keychain lanyard, the 5Star device unclips itself and gets lost in my shirt or falls to the floor. Please send me a 5Star lanyard with a more secure closure.

    The alerts telling you when and where the person wearing it is, does not happen in real time. I’ll get an alert 15-20 minutes AFTER my mother gets dropped off at her home from the Senior Daycare Center...telling me she is home!

    Doesn’t always update correctly for my relative leaving home. Frequently have to reboot the device itself to get it to work properly and had to replace the device after less than a year - just stopped working altogether.

    MINUS 5 STARS - This is a horrible service! DO NOT USE IT! It goes offline and only works intermittently. The gps device locator also fails - knowing that the device is at the “home” location, it often provides a location address more than a block away - Siri does MUCH BETTER! AGAIN, FIND ANOTHER SERVICE - I’M GOING TO DO THAT THIS WEEK!
