SkyMD 24/7 Telehealth

SkyMD is a national telemedicine platform, specializing in dermatology, staffed with doctors that treat patients every day across America. With online dermatologists in all 50 US States, SkyMD's medical team of skin doctors is literally available to treat patients in every zip code, from infants to centenarians!

Our online group of doctors operates no differently than any traditional doctor's office, other than no appointments, and you having more time to interact with your dermatologist. SkyMD accepts most medical insurances, and treats the privacy of your medical data with the utmost importance. Our medical professionals are all board certified doctors, with years of experience in treating a wide range of skin conditions and diseases.

As a group of practicing medical doctors, SkyMD also prescribes medications, the same as if you were evaluated by a doctor in person. Today's medical industry, along with State Boards of Medicine and the majority of private insurance networks, considers telemedicine as equal to being seen in person, and most medical insurance networks consider telemedicine as a covered medical benefit. Dermatology is an obvious and practical fit for the use of telemedicine. Your SkyMD doctor now has the flexibility to evaluate your uploaded photos, or converse with you in a video conference, or even recommend that you still see a doctor in person, depending on what's the right treatment model for each patient.

Access your dermatologist anytime, anywhere. SkyMD brings the dermatologist to your fingertips.

Here's how it works:

1. Download the app (for free) and connect to your dermatologist. Tell us where you live (zip code), and we will recommend a doctor to you, or you can select from any doctor in your home state.

2. Take photos of your skin, hair or nail concern, and complete a medical intake comprised of a few simple questions about your primary concern, symptoms, a medical history, allergies, and anything else you'd like to tell us about your skin issue.

3. Your dermatologist will evaluate your case, diagnose your condition, and recommend a personalized treatment plan, including prescriptions if necessary. You tell us where to send the prescription, too. Your choice of pharmacy!

Common issues that can be diagnosed and treated through the SkyMD online dermatology platform include but are not limited to acne, rosacea, cold sores, dandruff, hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating, eyelash thinning, hair loss, nail issues, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, skin aging, and other skin lesions…but the list of skin-related issues that can effect a patient goes on and on. Trust your dermatologist and their medical training to ensure you receive a proper and correct diagnosis, followed by an effective treatment plan.

SkyMD is a HIPAA-compliant encrypted platform. All information is protected with advanced security measures.

Told the dermatologist I wanted accutane and he didn’t even questions or give me any other drugs that I didn’t want to try. He went straight toward to get me on the accutane. Just in my 30 day wait for accutane now so easy and affordable and in the comfort of my home!

  • Excellent Care!
by ElizaRocks! on 2021-04-05 at 3:05 PM

My insurance covered this, so $10 for the convenience, ease, and expertise of the doctor was fantastic! I highly recommend this service for routine care!

  • Great app
by KM.! on 2021-03-23 at 6:33 AM

I was struggling to find a good dermatologist local to me. I had called at least 6 offices and only one answered and they gave me an appointment date for months away and that wasn’t going to work for me. I was researching other options and decided to give this a try. I ended up spending around $75 which is not bad at all considering the convenience of everything. I would much rather pay for this service and get a response in 2 days than wait forever to get consulted in person. I loved the experience of this app. Answered a couple questions, submitted photos and got the results and prescriptions in days. Loved the experience. I would totally recommend this app to others

  • Derm appointment in Michigan
    by Aimee C 1994 on 2021-03-21 at 1:50 PM

I made an appointment at 4:50PM est Saturday March 20 and still haven’t heard back . They assigned Dr. Jennifer Chiang and said she no longer participates in Michigan and that I would be assigned a different doctor named Dr. Shah . I have sent an email under the contact us section and the chat with us section and no response.

  • Super easy
    by jmm270 on 2021-03-04 at 11:09 AM

Super easy to use and navigate. Submitted a visit on a Saturday night and actually Had a response that same night. Even had some hiccups with getting prescription filled But was easy to communicate via the app to get it fixed.

  • So convenient!

  • Don’t Be Swayed by it Being Remote. It’s Great Care
    by any-nicknames-left? on 2021-02-21 at 2:58 PM

I don’t think I will ever visit a dermatologist in person after using SkyMD. There is just no need to waste your time by driving, waiting, and then being rushed when you finally see the doctor. With SkyMD’s platform I truly believe the care is better. The doctor doesn’t close out the visit until all your issues are addressed, and there doesn’t feel to be a rush. Pictures sent to the doc on the platform provide the same value as the doctor looking in person. Plus the appointment happens almost right away - it doesn’t take 6 weeks to get in. I’ve used Dr Willett three times, and when I request the visit - no matter what day of the week - I hear back within hours. Don’t be swayed away because it’s a tele health platform. The doctors are real, and the level of detail and care provided (along with the convenience) far exceeds an in person dermatology visit. Highly recommended.

I have used SkyMD on three different occasions. The response is always quick and thorough. My perioral dermatitis was quickly diagnosed and I found a cure after months of struggles! I will never go in person for a dermatologist appointment unless absolutely necessary because of how wonderfully this online dermatology works.

  • Disappointed
    by Leonie10 on 2021-01-31 at 5:26 PM

The doctor who I was assigned to wasn’t sensitive to my needs at all. I explained I've been dealing with rosacea on and off for about twenty years, and needed my skin looking nice again, because as most people, masks have done a lot of damage. All I got was an alternative sunscreen and a facial wash!!! The norm for rosacea is antibiotics that target the inflammation. I had to message him about ten times to get a meager two month minocycline prescription. When my skin breaks out I feel very low and depressed— and he wasn’t sensitive to that at all. I don’t remember his name, but he was terribly scared to prescribe antibiotics. I’m not asking for Vicodin for God’s sake, I just want better looking skin. Very sad. I’m definitely going to ask for a different dermatologist next time— IF there is a next time. There is a fantastic dermatology company called Apostrophe— I suggest using that, and not this one. The doctors are very sensitive to your needs, experienced, and it only costs $20.

  • Game changer

Love Dr. Robert Peppercorn and the staff, particularly medical assistant Travis! When I call they immediately help me and I’ve not once dealt with an automated calling system! Dr. Peppercorn is very informative and even though the visit is online our visits feel personal like he’s your hometown dermatologist! I couldn’t be happier with the service provided!

  • Outstanding Care!
by StandardToast on 2021-01-25 at 2:05 AM

We have used SkyMD on three different occasions. Dr. Chiang provided excellent care (through messages and video) and she was quick to answer any questions that we had. Both medical assistants that I worked with, Kellye and Travis, provided excellent customer service along the way. I am recommending SkyMD to all of my friends. Thank you for this great service!

  • Doesn’t take insurance
by Jeremy Matson on 2020-12-16 at 3:10 PM

If you visit their website they provide a long list of insurance providers they accept. Once you submit all of your info including pictures and medical history, they will message you and tell you they require you to pay cash up front $89 and “as a courtesy” will bill your insurance and refund it if it goes through. Don’t be fooled.

  • Awesome service
by Cicihill on 2020-12-04 at 7:24 PM

It’s nice not having to wait weeks for an appointment. I was able to schedule one with Dr. Chiang the very next day. She asked great questions to make sure she was giving me the right things. Had my diagnosis and prescription within 48 hours. So helpful.

  • Scariest night of my life
    by Lisaloo1234567 on 2020-11-30 at 12:26 AM

I had a rash and talked to a dermatologist. They told me they couldn’t help me because it looks like something that could be more serious. They told me the name and I looked it up and had the worst panic attack- it was life changing if I had it like she said. So I asked her is this dangerous or life threatening? No response- she left me in the dark. So went and got a biopsy and the results came back and it was just an allergic reaction from a bug bite. So not only did she misdiagnose me she left me paralyzed in fear. I will not be back. Update: Response to the response I got. I’m aware that if it looked serious enough they wouldn’t feel comfortable enough diagnosing. The whole point is she diagnosed me told me because of what she assumed it was she suggest I get blood work bc inflammation could be spread throughout my body. So when I asked for more information on what she diagnosed me with... she left my in the dark and ignored me. It was scary to hear that diagnosed without anymore information even when asked. Thankfully what she diagnosed me turned out to not be what she said it was or anything serious like she assumed it was but I feel that she could’ve helped ease my anxiety will follow up information on what she diagnosed me with.

SkyMD was really easy to use, and the dermatologist was very helpful. Glad that something like this exists. My insurance was accepted, so not sure how much it costs without insurance, but would be worth it because of the safety and convenience. Highly recommend.

by happyitworked on 2020-11-05 at 12:11 AM

Really awesome service, they had put a lot of thought into this service and its a 5 star telemedicine company all the way, hard to find a company of this quailty amidst all the pop up online doctor companies...and way better than seeing a dermatologist in person. I was misdiagnosed by an in person derm and for over a year suffered needlessly. The skyMD derm got the diagnosis right and in 2.5 weeks I’m all better. It was way cheaper and way more convenient too.

  • Dermatologist Specialist in Your Pocket
    by Equanimity21 on 2020-11-04 at 8:09 PM

I’ve had my fair share of visits to dermatologists, and I have to say, the dermatologists that I’ve met through SkyMD are absolute best! The ability to access them almost instantly virtually during the COVID-19 lockdown is a huge added bonus, especially when I am unsure if I absolutely need to pay a visit to the doctor. The app is easy to use, and the push notification works well to inform me whenever the doctor has a response to my question, which is super convenient. My husband used it too to get a quick and thorough diagnosis which he would not have gotten if this did not exist, as he hates physical visits to the doctor. I highly recommend utilizing the SkyMD virtual dermatologist services for any of your skin care needs!

I have been going to dermatologists for years and they always cost an arm and a leg. I went to college and didn’t find one near me so I decided to try SkyMD. I love it!!! It costs me less than $30 to see a dermatologist - unheard of for me. Also very quick response, personalized and the doctor I was paired with answers all of my questions and is so kind! Would recommend!

I’m going to keep this review as short and to the point as possible. Firstly, $90 is kind of steep- BUT, you’re paying for convenience and honestly my experience went super well. I got 2 prescriptions immediately. I’ve only been to a dermatologist once, I spent $200 out of pocket for the doctor to walk in the room for 2 seconds then prescribe me a $60 topical without asking me about my skin or even looking at it. He then proceeded to rush me out of the office. I never went back to a dermatologist, but since I’m wearing a mask everyday at work my face looks horrible. I was looking for a quick solution and this was it. I honestly don’t have any complaints about the service, I do however have one about the app which is that the pharmacy kept somehow changing itself back to the wrong one after I corrected it 2 times. This may be a glitch or something, however after contacting the doctor she got it sent over to the correct location quickly. Overall, I would recommend this app.

  • Depends on who you get
by SumApricots on 2020-09-07 at 2:07 AM

UPDATED REVIEW: I want to start by saying, I was not turned away by skymd. I was given a new dermatologist, but decided against making a visit with the new skymd dermatologist. Due to the fact, I didn’t want to play Russian roulette with my health. I will not discuss the more severe diagnosis I received after leaving skymd. But I will say, don’t hope you get lucky with skymd and receive a good dermatologist. Their fees are typical to an established in person dermatologist, with the major differences in service and quality. Do not kid yourself, they aren’t full service. Their customer service told me so. Maybe some people receive adequate treatment, but there is NO GUARANTEE you will receive that from skymd. Because of that reason, I will never try them again. It is also my STRONG belief their customer service & pr team, does not care for my health and only wish me well as a form of virtue signaling. Please notice, they did not ask if they could reach out and amended the situation with me. Only to deflect my experience by bringing up a patient who received better treatment. The diagnosis of another patient will not improve or impact your treatment or health. It does not help you if skymd is proud they helped someone else, as that does not affect how you will be diagnosed. If you have any real issues with skymd, expect zero accountability, deflection, and virtue signaling. All things that will not improve your experience with them, if you are unlucky enough to receive inadequate treatment. I also do not appreciate them subtlety knocking other telehealth services. SKYMD you are not better than other telehealth services and it is expected there are better and more affordable alternatives to your company. Especially, if you make a show of pretending to acknowledged critique, you don’t ask how you can make things right, and by claiming to be better, but deflect all shortcomings on telehealth issues. I know from experience, the lack of tact and treatment was not a telehealth issue. Behold, as I never had the same telehealth or communication issues with you as I have with other similar telehealth companies. It does not matter if you have many great doctors on board as that will also not guarantee if any patients will be assigned one of your many great doctors. Until you hold your less than adequate dermatologist and your company accountable for it’s shortcomings. You can NOT promise what you are selling. Because from my experience I did not recieve what you claim to have, despite what other patients received, my experience with you remains the same. PREVIOUS REVIEW: If you have mild issues and don’t like waiting. Maybe try them, but a visit to get checked is around $90 or more. Unlike a physical office, getting help with your medication after 7 days isn’t free, it requires another appointment. After leaving skymd, because of a dermatologist. One who suggested I had mild acne and I use over the counter benzoyl peroxide for treatment. She also admitted skymd did have telecommunications issues due to the nature of online treatment. Question? Why go to an in person dermatologist who struggles to give treatment through photos? Isn’t that the whole point? In the end, I went to a physical doctor. The wait time was 5 minutes, the dermatologist evaluated my skin and concluded it was not mild, but moderate and likely related to my monthly cycle. She let me know I could call their office any time I had questions at no cost to me. I am aware during the pandemic going to a physical office seems scary. My office the waiting rooms were closed anyway, I waited in the car and was called when my appointment was ready. So I did not feel at risk going in person. Top it off, skymd had issues with my insurance, blue cross, the physical dermatologist did not. So technically skymd was more expensive for me. For serious issues, such as getting a mole checked, long term acne issues, or if you want to ask about isotretinoin I would suggest going in person. Isotretinoin is serious medication and I would only trust a physical dermatologist in prescribing it to me. You still have to look around for the right dermatologist, but getting aside a new dermatologist on skymd is a hassle and their app isn’t the best. I understand there may be some good dermatologist on here, but there is no guarantee you will be assigned a good dermatologist. Skymd can’t offer you all the treatments/care an in person dermatologist can. If you have mild issues want to try retain-A or a safer isotretinoin alternative. Apostrophe is great and affordable for people without insurance. Retin-A is $150 without insurance with a coupon with skymd, give or take, this includes the office visit & medication or about $120 with insurance. Apostrophe tretinoin cost $75 every 3 months and is delivered to you, no insurance needed. There are more options to skymd out there, but I think it’s app has limitations of its own that makes it undesirable. It’s also still a new company and therefore it’s not as professional as a physical dermatologist who has been established for 20 years.

  • A gift from above

  • Awesome Service Quality Care
    by Mariliz67 on 2020-08-22 at 11:17 PM

Hi, I needed to see a dermatologist. I didn’t want to wait days or weeks for an appointment. So I saw this app with great ratings and service. I saw the doctor on the same day and had scripts also prescribed. I have had to ask for some updates on my profile and support responded within minutes! Plus there is no monthly fee. Just pay for your visit as you would for a doctors visit. It is cheaper than a face to face visit but the quality of care is excellent.

  • Amazing!
    by christinexo3111111 on 2020-08-21 at 4:12 PM

The doctor that was assigned to me was wonderful. Was able to diagnose me within the hour of putting in for my visit. He was very thorough and explained everything to me perfectly and answered every question i had. He was able to prescribe me something for irritant dermatitis and my rash went away within 3 days of using the oitment he prescribed. He is a life saver it was embarrassing and i needed a remedy fast for my rash and waiting to get an appointment for a derm was atleast a 3 month wait, i love how fast and easy this is and i love that they accept my insurance!! Im going to continue to use this app. Very wonderful service. Dr peppercorn was awesome!

  • Dr. Peppercorn is one of the best providers I’ve had
    by Duxfeminafacti1 on 2020-08-14 at 1:52 AM

I am new to Telehealth but not new to medicine. I am a registered nurse working on my doctorate in nursing. I have dealt with hundreds of providers (and I will be one soon) and this has been one of my best experiences ever. The process was very quick, but not in and out, fast food medicine. He provided me with a diagnosis I suspected I had but also made sure to inform me about other possibilities and genuinely cared about follow-up. I had my diagnosis, treatment plan and prescriptions in less than 24 hours. One of the prescriptions is too expensive for me and he even offered to find the RX in a different place which will probably save me over $150-200 dollars. I’m sorry, but I’ve never met a doctor who would work on this for a patient, it’s so incredible. He also provided me with A LOT of information on my dx, a plan for treatment, side effects of medication, lifestyle changes, timeframe to see change, etc. In the entire time he never made me feel embarrassed. I wish every single medical experience could be like this because than people wouldn’t wait to get help. Bedside manner and taking the time to care for your patients has been proven to lead to better outcomes, healthier lifestyle and patients seeking help during the primary phase of their illness or dx before “it’s too late.” Thank you Dr. Peppercorn. UPDATE: I had a follow up visit again and changed my medications. Once again, excellent service, new medications and will continue to follow-up. They also provided medication for an additional medical issue as well. I wish all visits were like this.

  • Incredible Service by Dr. Jennifer Chiang
    by Noxs77 on 2020-08-05 at 12:11 AM

I opened up the evaluation expecting a generic template with a perception. I was blown away by the personalized, detailed information provided by Dr. Chiang. Literally came with recommendations, detailed definitions, causes and underlying triggers and omg...she even included coupons! I’m more pleased with this virtual service then I have ever been by an office visit. I don’t know if she is just the world’s most exceptional dermatologist or if every doctor on the site is like this (first time using this), but she is my go to for anything I need going forward. So glad I found this service!

  • Excellent. Really excellent.
by jj milk on 2020-08-05 at 12:06 AM

A dermatologist usually has some wait for an appointment, than a usually long wait in a waiting room. The idea of having a skin issue and not having to think 10 times if you should or not go to a doctor but rather you just open an app from the comfort of your home, submit your question is great. The app asks literally all the relevant questions a doctor would ask, and there you go. You get an answer within minutes from a doctor with a treatment plan and/medication. They got some really great experienced doctors with decades of experience that I wonder why such a middle aged experienced doctor is on an app... although they have physical locations. No making an appointment, no waiting room, no annoying secretary... my experience exceeded my expectations. I think this is just as good as a physical doctor unless of course a need of a physical job on something. Definitely recommend it. (Not affiliated and not asked to wrote this. Just an honest review from an amazed user.)

Dr. Peppercorn really is the sweetest doctor ever. He seems like he really cares. I have severe chronic plaque psoriasis and have had it for 9 years. He is getting me on a biologic after all these years of suffering and dealing with doctors that never wanted to help me. I’m grateful for him. And they take my BCBS insurance which was a huge plus. Definitely recommend.

  • Can’t review the medical care because the app is unusable
by CashAppEffingSucks on 2020-07-23 at 4:35 PM

The app does not load, randomly crashes and loses my information. Also “unable to verify insurance.” Don’t bother launching an app that does not work properly. It is extremely poor customer service and loses you a massive portion of your income.

I was in desperate need of a Rx for my eczema flair up. Another app was recommended but it wasn’t working so I gave this one a try. It was a bit more money than the one that was recommended but it was very much worth the money! It was simple to use and I got my Rx sent to my local pharmacy within 2 days. I will definitely use this again as needed!

  • Life changing
by Do you really want to know my name? on 2020-07-08 at 11:46 AM

I’ve had pretty severe cystic acne for at least a decade, and this app finally got me in touch with a dermatologist who takes my insurance, is affordable, has flexible appointment times, and who would prescribe me Accutane. Not having to travel to appointments during the workday and instead just being able to use the video call system made it possible for me to actually undertake this treatment. Now I wake up every day with clear skin that I haven’t seen since I was a young child. This app and Dr Calame made it possible for me to have this new chapter of my life, and for that I’ll always be thankful.

  • Best Telemedicine Service Handsdown
by Wyobilly on 2020-06-25 at 7:21 PM

SKYMD is by far the best and easiest dermatology telemedicine service to use. From the time I created my account until I had a diagnosis and prescriptions sent to my pharmacy was approximately 12 hours. They even provided me with coupons in case my insurance didn’t cover the medications. SKYMD is so much easier than waiting weeks to see a dermatologist in the office, and the service from SKYMD is second to none. I highly recommend SKYMD and their providers to anyone needing to see a dermatologist! Thanks SKYMD!!

  • Use it for multiple people in my family
    by Kate7480 on 2020-06-23 at 11:24 AM

Quick response, nice staff, doctors work with you to figure out what medication are working and any side effects you may have. Overall, very similar to an office visit. I appreciate being able to use my local pharmacy also. I have adult acne and my teenager needed medication for her acne too. We go to the same doctor, use the same log in on my account, and then specify who needs to see the doctor. This makes it a lot easier on me! The app is well put together, secure and safe. It does take a bit of exploring to find the msg from the staff, but once I figured it out, it was easy.

It takes forever to see a dermatologist in office. And sometimes they only have a minute to look at you. So this app allows more personalized care. Plus it’s easy and fast, which is what I like. I have a baby so it’s one less place I have to go anyway :p

I have struggled with rosacea most of my adult life. My new dermatologist here, Dr. Calame prescribed the perfect medication and face wash for my rosacea and gave me tips of what to do and not to do for it. I am so thankful for SkyMD and Dr. Calame!
