Want to know what the night sky looks like to people on the other side of the earth? Well just point your device down!
Want to know where your star sign is in the sky? Star Chart will tell you all this and more.
Star Charts features include:
– Just point and view. When you hold your device up to the sky, Star Chart will automatically start tracking your movements to match the sky *.
– Alternatively, look around the sky using finger gestures – perfect for armchair astronomers!
– In a single app of less than 30MB, Star Chart dynamically scales its visuals and capabilities across all iOS devices to meet the high end capabilities of a retina display iPad while also running smoothly on the earliest iPhones and iPods.
– Accurately depicts all the visible stars of the northern and southern hemispheres – a total of approximately 120,000 stars!
– Fly to and explore all the planets of the solar system, their moons and the sun all rendered in beautiful 3D with state of the art visual effects.
– Using the powerful Time Shift feature, simply tap the time button and smoothly shift up to 10,000 years forward or backward in time.
– Displays all 88 constellations, with constellation imagery based on the beautiful artwork by 17th century astronomer Johannes Hevelius.
– Includes the complete Messier catalogue of 110 exotic deep sky objects.
– Tap on anything in the sky and get the facts on what you are looking at, including distance and brightness.
– Very powerful zoom function, lets you view the sky in extra detail, using intuitive finger gestures.
– Fully configurable. Star Chart displays only the sky objects that you are interested in.
– Allows you to view the sky underneath the horizon. So now you can see where the sun is, even at night!
– Manually set your location to find out what the sky looks like from anywhere in the world.
– Supports dynamic device orientation viewing. Allows you to view the night sky whilst holding your iPhone/iPad* at any angle.
So point your iPhone/iPad* at the sky and see what's out there!

Highly recommend, I’ve had this app for years and it’s worked great
- Great app, thanks so much!by dnpcav3 on May 22, 2022 at 2:35 pm
I love this app …only one suggestion: I’m older and my eyes are not as good as it used to be I wish there was a way to make the text bigger! Sometimes I see stars or planets in the sky and want to know what they are - your app works flawlessly but without my glasses I cannot read the name. No biggie though it’s probably just me and my old eyes. Thanks!
- Looking upby joeaa60 on May 17, 2022 at 2:23 pm
It’s always nice to find an app like this that can show you what is up in the heavens. Although living in a big city it is hard to see.

Star Chart is our go-to app whenever we are stargazing at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania, at the lake in Maine, or the beach in Florida. Finding our orientation to the horizon and the elliptical plane could not be easier. Finding various constellations, individual stars of interest, the Sun, Moon and each of the planets is made so simple. We especially like the way the magnitude of stars and planets including conjunction of planets are displayed. Thank you for a GREAT app.
- Buggyby Biktop21 on March 27, 2022 at 2:36 pm
It’s fun to watch and feel like I’m flying all over the Galaxy. But it always has to re install the add ons purchased and it keeps repeating over and over.
- Simple yet sophisticatedby Cff5800 on March 21, 2022 at 10:14 am
Easy to use and it provides a detailed interface. I've been using it for years and now that my kids are growing up they enjoy trying to identify the planets and stars.

This app. should be the most popular app. On planet Earth! It has expanded my mind to the heavens. Seeing the stars and planets, then going outside and experiencing the wonder of our universe firsthand. I wish I had this kind of ease of information when I was a child.(70’s) My grandchildren will be able to enjoy the night sky . Again LOVE this app.

- Outdatedby sddarkman619 on February 19, 2022 at 11:58 pm
Purchase the add-ons but it just goes into a download loop. Does not successfully download nor updates the app. Will have to get a refund because this app is no longer useful. I.e. it’s useless
- please examine the apparent brightness of Venusby Treehugger Dave on February 15, 2022 at 2:54 pm
Star Chart is an excellent program, but please confirm your value for the apparent brightness of the planet Venus. It may be way off, too low (too negative, too bright.) Thanks.

This app has unwittingly helped me through so many mental breakdowns and blights of depression because these stars and their constellations (unlike life) never TRULY change and it helps to anchor me in the truth and the moment in such an inspiring & progressive way. This app is amazing. Get it! Now.

- Don’t buy the upgradesby SalishGrump on February 4, 2022 at 10:09 pm
This is a decent star finder, star chart app. However the upgrades seem to be a waste of money. While using this to teach my kids about the skies above them I felt like it might be fun to purchase the satellites app so we could track the ISS. It won’t load and keeps crashing. Multiple reinstalls and even across my iPhone or iPad… no go. There are better apps out there that will give you what you pay for.
- Kids and adults love it!by Kjmendoza on February 1, 2022 at 8:36 pm
When we go outside at night and see the stars, my kids always ask for this app so they can identify them! They love looking at this with me! We are currently in Spain, 7 hours ahead of home, but my boys love seeing the same stars here! It did not automatically know I was in Spain and I had to reset the location, but it worked great once I did!
- Very helpful on the star informationby B.G. 711 on January 26, 2022 at 8:51 pm
Hi my name is Bee Gee I am looking at the star app for a few years now it is very interesting my granddaughter Shelley also does she got into it really strong and we both have telescopes and we looked at it over the bay and it looks really sharp!

- Great 👍by reallt546 on January 3, 2022 at 4:21 pm
It’s a cool app but definitely could be better I live in a big city and so all the lights from the city kind of block out The stars and what not but I went on vacation somewhere quite far away from the big cities in the night sky just lit up it was amazing but I never brought my telescope out there to look at everything yeah I’m not blaming the app for what happens in the city but I hope everyone understands and yeah. Anyways enough about me so the app has a bunch of cool planets and stuff it helped me find Jupiter Mars Venus and the other planets. And when the moon was out it was just extremely spectacular but I don’t need this app to find the moon. Does anyone know how annoying Siri is? Anyways it’s a nice app but I wish I was just in a better place where I could see everything I guess that’s the whole point of this review just a wish. And nice graphics too
- Amazingby TristorDrexus on January 1, 2022 at 2:28 pm
This app is absolutely amazing! The stars and planets have never been more beautiful to explore! I’ve always dreamed of being an astrologists and you have made that happen at the tip of my fingers!
- Great appby Trenton Patrick on January 1, 2022 at 12:47 am
This app tells me the constellations and planets in the sky. So it is easier for me to find planets in the dark sky when we go camping. I also can see the nebulas so I’ll try and hunt for it on my nice telescope. So if you are a beginner looking for planets, highly recommend this app.

- I love Star Chart.by Me Too Phat on December 18, 2021 at 6:33 am
No matter where I travel, I can use Star Chart to see what I’m looking at in the night sky, get a heads up on meteor showers, and know where to look. It’s awesome and I highly recommend it.

Amazing looking at the night sky
- Good app but too many upgrades that require paymentby IGJ 16 on December 15, 2021 at 7:40 pm
I love the help finding consolations and the fact that it has an astronomical calendar saying when meteor showers are is amazing! Just saying I could pay $5-10 for the app not to have to deal with the upgrades such as where to look for meteor showers and comets which are 2 separate upgrades one if not both cost $4.99. Still overall love the app and I haven’t had any major bugs so that’s nice and remarkably no ads so I really do understand the creators trying to make some money through upgrades but wish they would do it in the overall purchase.🤩☄️💫✨🌌
- No longer supported. Don’t waste your money.by Ikester-1st on December 12, 2021 at 2:12 pm
I was one that purchased this app back when it first came out. Enjoyed it! But it appears that the developers totally lost interest and enjoy taking money for in app purchases that don’t work or don’t even give you a current comet tracking… Time to move to something that is current and supported for the current iOS. Like a fool I purchased a couple in app purchases before I had read reviews. Hopefully this review will save someone from that frustration. Could be a great app. Once was.. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

- Get a different appby mel6;60062 on December 6, 2021 at 10:23 pm
I’ve tried three or four different free stargazing apps and this one is probably the worst. The biggest problem is that it insists on giving Arabic names for most stars even though it says it uses the main language you use on your phone—I don’t even have Arabic downloaded to my phone. But it also seems to miss things altogether—the other day I was 90 percent sure I was looking at Venus (which is huge) and it didn’t even show up. It doesn’t acknowledge several smaller constellations. I’ve never seen it acknowledge a meteor shower. It basically contributes nothing to my life. Oh I guess it helped me get better at recognizing Saturn—that’s one it usually gets right.
