Impression and review of people to iPhone App [TonalEnergy Tuner & Metronome]!

  • I’m learning to sing!!!
by magnessR on June 22, 2022 at 10:51 am

I’ve been around loud explosions for much of my life starting young, then Vietnam, then other things, hunting, etc. and have constant ear ringing. Never could hold a note or even know that I hit one. This great app has changed that for me. I’m actually getting to be able to hit a note and hold it. My goal is to be able to join in with others, and that’s happening!!

  • Good app but…
    by Emerald615 (エメラーd615) on June 14, 2022 at 12:34 am

The app will just randomly not track hours of practice and it is really annoying to not have a reliable tracker.

  • Great app

Keeps me playing in tune and in tempo. Thanks

  • False advertisement

After installing it demands you to install it on your iPhone. Description page never says that. Obviously I don’t want that. Please refund me

  • Teaching youngsters with this program is very useful as visuals are appealing.

Thanks to this tool I can do on the spot recordings and check pitch intonation. Please provide more tutorials on retrieving history of practice and replay of recording.

  • Does everything it’s supposed to do
    by drbrain6 on May 12, 2022 at 12:00 am

And more. How wonderful that when the tuning wheel went hay-wired I knew that there was an update. Such perfection. I was curious when someone gave the app less than perfect why they might have done so. I feel that I have a good feel for this app which has really benefitted me. This app is smarter than me.

  • The best tuning app ever!!
by upset at new update on May 11, 2022 at 9:37 pm

We love this app so much. Our entire family uses it. It has so many features. And our kids love the reward images when they are in tune! Who ever would have thought of smiley faces in party hats and confetti? And they never know what reward will come next! So imaginative and keeps them intrigued. And for the grownups- it’s just very useful and intuitive.

  • Gold Standard App
by The real Chicken Little on May 11, 2022 at 3:25 pm

This app allows you to do so much that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. The customization is off the charts. The sound analysis and keyboard are really nice features for precise and accurate tuning and drones for practicing at home.

  • Easier control
by g he fbfbjfj on May 5, 2022 at 1:22 am

    Easier control

  • Disappointed
    by Max8256 on April 30, 2022 at 9:26 pm

I hate the new update. It is so hard to figure out how to just use the metronome without a shoe, hands or smiley face showing up. I just want to be able to add accents and take them away again like usual.

  • Tuner and fantastic metronome all in one
by Wombatista on April 25, 2022 at 4:10 am

This is an amazingly versatile tool with a fantastic, flexible metronome and a tuner that allows you to adjust just about everything you’d ever need to. I’ve been using it for years and still love it.

  • Accurate/Stable????
by Spurtworks on April 17, 2022 at 2:51 am

The interface moves around too much and loses mic signal entirely too quickly. Doesn’t matter whether using iPad Pro or iPhone Pro. I find the smiley face mode plain irritating, my tiny Korgs and Snarks work much better..

    by buddyrocker2 on April 14, 2022 at 4:00 pm

Hands down, this is your go-to metronome app!! It includes a metronome (obviously), a tuner, a sound tab (which I’m not sure exactly what that’s for), and an analysis tab. Once in a blue moon, when I open the app, it bugs out after I press the play button. However, that rarely happens.

  • It would be perfect if there can be a Mac OS version

  • Amazing value!
by Boat hippie on April 5, 2022 at 10:04 pm

I am a music student and lesson teacher so I pretty much use this app every day. I’ve tried a bunch of the other metronome apps on the App Store and none of them even come close to the quality and reliability of this one. The tuner is great and the metronome is reliable and has a ton of subdivisions and time signatures. One of my favorite functions is the ability to create click tracks. I found this to be extremely helpful when practicing pieces that change meter often. You can even save multiple click tracks and share them to others. All in all this is be of the best small purchases I’ve made, well worth the money!

  • Great app
by yay 😸👍👌👍🤟 on March 29, 2022 at 12:23 am

I like it a lot, because it smiles at you when you get a note right, and it’s helped me a lot to learn the notes and how to get them right. I gave It 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s a little bit more confusing than it needs to be, but other than that it’s definitely worth the price and it’s a great app for both beginners and professionals playing music.

Using for a year. I use it for singing and instrument intonation. The round note circle only gives one octave. But often one needs to pitch between octaves. That’s why I rate it only two stars.

  • Marching Band
    by MasterMaster53 on March 18, 2022 at 5:17 pm

It’s really helpful for me learning instruments for marching band, if it wasn’t for this I would not know the sounds I know today.

  • Far beyond awesome
by Ozexpat on March 12, 2022 at 8:23 pm

I originally downloaded this app for a simple metronome function but this app has so many features that it’s mind boggling. The basic settings are fun and easy but if you dig in, you can find advanced settings that will transform you from a level 1 string fiddler to a level 69 tonality boss. Are you a Jacob Collier-esque music nerd who wants to explore Just intonation and tuning your thirds to the specific key of the song? Covered. Are you a rhythm maniac who wants to get into shifting tempos and cross rhythmic mayhem? You’ve got it. I discover new features all the time and it actually inspires me to practice new things that I never would have thought of without this tool. I would give this app ten thousand stars if I could.

  • Great tuner
by Mamfred G on March 11, 2022 at 11:24 am

Great tuner. I only wish there was a stand alone version with its own hardware. I would prefer that so I could have my phone free while using the tuner.

  • Uuuhhhh… good stuff

Just a good thing to use if u know what I mean.

  • Has all of the needed features!
by zaephyr on February 17, 2022 at 2:00 am

The features this app has are all-encompassing. If I was going to own only one app as a practice aid, this would be the one

  • Please Add a Spectrogram with lines indicating all twelve chromatic notes
by Plainburge on February 13, 2022 at 12:12 am

There was an app in the AppStore that is unfortunately no longer here, called pitchlab guitar tuner. Why I preferred it for use in rehearsals such as for my saxophone quartet or saxophone section is because it maps all the notes being played (by multiple people!) on a spectrogram with lines that show the frequency of all twelve chromatic pitches for tuning comparison. If a note was far away from a line, it was out of tune. It was also helpful for being able to see vibrato. Especially if we are working as a section on playing vibrato together, you could actually see if everyone is playing vibrato and see exactly what the vibrato looks like! I already noticed the spectral feature in your app, however I don’t see how it could be useful to musicians given the current design of it. Anyways please add this feature, if you do it’ll make my day 🙂

  • Awesome app, but
by ReecesPuffz on February 8, 2022 at 6:22 pm

I love this app. I’ve been using it for years. It’s simple but gives you a lot of options. My only complaint is that the visual beats for the metronome, the blocks with the numbers on them, sometimes lag and it’s detrimental to my experience. This app is great and I’ve been using it pretty much since I started violin but this little thing completely throws me off sometimes. Please look into it

  • Terrible Noise
by Johnisalreadytaken on January 29, 2022 at 9:26 pm

Great app. -1 star for the terrible noise it makes when it deletes your tempo

  • Definitive
    by Neak68 on January 27, 2022 at 12:06 pm

I am a middle school band director in Texas, and this app is the best piece of “technology” that I have to aid in teaching band. It is the definitive tuning and metronome app and has become even so much more.

  • The One ☝️
by druariel on January 19, 2022 at 8:44 am

I’ve been using this app for many years and it’s come through for every use I could imagine. It’s packed with features that stay in the background until you need them, and every one of the features is accurate and dependable. If you’re a musician you need this app. If you’re transcribing you need this app. If you’re working with sound you need this app. I don’t really know any way that this app could be improved but the developers probably will think of something.

  • Nice App but tethering is bad
by atomicham on December 17, 2021 at 6:30 pm

Excellent app recommended by my daughter’s French Horn instructor. The problem with it is that the Watch app requires an iPhone for no reason. This means that my daughter’s Watch (which is a child’s watch administered by my iPhone) cannot install the app (it states it requires its own iPhone), making it worthless for her. Developer doesn’t need to require tethered iPhone.

  • Title screen
    by Alexander*93 on December 16, 2021 at 9:33 pm

The title screen is very inconvenient when you’re trying to get a quick tune in. I do not care how long I used the app for not do I want it to tell me how I did. I know how I did and I don’t want to be reminded.

  • Great App!!
    by weddy4456 on November 19, 2021 at 1:11 pm

It’s a pretty great app for tuning or metronome and all the other things. I have been recommended by others to use it and I have to say that it has been very helpful to me since. If your looking for a good reliable way to tune or to get a metronome this is the way for you.

  • Amazing App — One Small Issue
    by Anigo_O on November 17, 2021 at 4:28 am

At this point, the app is too cluttered to be useful. When creating metronome playlists, after “Use Tempo” is switched off for all the presets, the entire set does not inherit the tempo set in the header tempo box. Instead, it reverts back to the original tempo of the individual presets. Other than that, it is a really intuitive feature.

  • Love it!

  • Best Ever!!
by creativephotosol on November 9, 2021 at 4:24 pm

This is the Best tool ever for improving tone! I am an inspiring soprano saxophonist—it is one of the most difficult instruments to play in-tune. I struggled for an entire year using other resources and methods to develop my tone. Use of the sustain mode using my Bluetooth headphones has trained my ear to almost perfectly matching tone. The Activity Summary is an exceptional daily journal of my progress and has helped me to troubleshoot my embrouchure. Over a three week period my tone quality has improved 65%. I’m SOOOO excited about my progress and future as a sexy senior sax player…. Regardless of where you are in your musical journey Be sure to get this App! Best tool EVER for developing your ear and refining your sound!

  • Very nice app

  • Great metronome
    by moabarches72 on October 24, 2021 at 7:10 pm

Literally awesome, it has a smiley face. Jokes aside it is honestly the best tuner and metronome. It’s super customizable and very easy to use. If you’re into music the $5 fee is totally worth it.

  • Love it!!!
    by jedimaster0416 on October 23, 2021 at 2:14 am

I use this app every day at work. But, with every update, there seems to be some bugs. First, the pull down screen for the metronome freezes sometimes to where I can’t swipe down from the tuner part of the app unless I go to a different screen at the bottom and back. Second, would be nice if there were presets that could be made for instruments just like there is tempos. I switch to different instruments all day long depending on the class I’m teaching. Would be nice if there was a way to set instrument presets for quicker access.

Change log

Update history of iPhone App [TonalEnergy Tuner & Metronome]

– Fixed touch issue with metronome beat toggle buttons
– Fixed pitch wheel size issue on iPads
– Portuguese translation updates

From 2.1.0 – Introducing the SIMPLE METRONOME!

There is now a NEW Simple Metronome mode:
– For the times you don’t need a meter or presets
– For younger or new music students who are learning to use a metronome.

To access the Simple Met, simply touch the new button in the top left of the Met page. This will allow you to toggle between Simple and Advanced (as our current metronome will be known from this point forward). Or simply tap the Met tab at the bottom.

For your convenience, when using the Advanced Met in sequence mode, you can temporarily switch to the Simple Met without interfering with the Advanced Met setup.

Other Metronome updates:
– The Met voice can now be customized for your needs on a per-beat basis, with any chosen number or a selection of NEW key words. (English only)

– Hold the “Tap Tempo” button on the Metronome page and select choices to allow MrSmileyFace to assist you in maintaining a steady pulse so that “You’ve got the beat!”

– Nine NEW animated beat visualizations, many using MrSmileyFace, have been added to the metronome page so you feel the beat and sense tempo differently! Simply swipe the Met visualization to make your choice. Tapping on the visualization will toggle special features.
Note: Some visualization special features respond to two-finger taps as well.

– In addition, if you wish, add some funk to your practice using our NEW randomized Metronome sounds. You can change every bar or beat, among a chosen range of sounds. The sound choices are found in the Met Sound pop-up.

Play along with exercises created by you on the improved Auto-Exercise Creator (AEC), found on all Sound pages
NEW features in AEC:
– Customizations for note durations include options for rests and repeats within the exercise.
– Customizations for single note lengths are now available.
– Lip Slur (Harmonic series) mode is available to generate exercises especially for brass players!
– Exercises can now be saved/loaded and exported/shared with others!
– Drones can be added to any exercise.
– The met sound can now be added to any exercise.

NEW: The Auto-Tone Tracking feature can now be set to sustain the initially heard note (Hold First), rather than tracking every note change. Hands-free practice when playing a scale or exercise with a root drone underneath opens new possibilities for you to explore tonality.

NEW: Our large volume dB option, in the center of the Target Tuner, can increase understanding of individual and group dynamics.

NEW: Now you can import and export your Custom Temperaments.
