I thought this was an app for regular people like myself that would like to know about certain things that’s going on with my body.
- Overpriced & not worth it!by themedreviewer on 2019-06-20 at 6:21 PM
This app is way too expensive! There are so many other resources where you can get great images at no cost. I recommend the thumbroll app - super high quality images and it’s completely free!
- Premier medical appby Dr_JD on 2018-08-22 at 11:42 AM
I have been using VisualDx since my second year of medical school. This app has a wide range of use for medical training and education. High quality, high yield photos of a wide range of conditions as well as pictograms for systemic conditions allow for effective clinical cross reference. Concise, high yield information in a well organized template allows for quick reference. Over time I have significantly decreased the number of medical apps I use; however, VisualDx is a tool I still use daily.
- Best clinical app for dermatologyby derm_md on 2018-08-15 at 8:25 PM
I have been a user of this app for >3 years from dermatology residency to clinical practice as a board-certified dermatologist. Very easy to navigate and nearly comprehensive listing of dermatological disease. Whether you are using it as a learning tool (med student, resident) or clinical assistant (ED, IM, dermatology, etc.) it is a “must have” if you encounter cutaneous disease in practice. I use the app multiple times a day and use it to assist with diagnosis, differentials, quick treatment guide, and most importantly as an education tool for the patient. I often will pull up a known diagnosis and show the patient similar photos to their condition from the expansive photo bank to help support a diagnosis. Furthermore, i frequently print out patient handouts for patients so that they have a reliable and physician-vetted document to help answer any questions that remain after our patient encounter. All in all, this is the single best and most used app I use in clinical practice as a dermatologist. Very useful for med students to experienced physicians and I highly recommend.
- A must haveby Prnham on 2018-08-14 at 8:47 PM
I have been using VisualDx app for about 3 years and I have to say it is the best purchase I have spent. I use this app for patient education as well as for my own education. It is very user friendly and the information is informative but not overwhelming. I use it everyday and I am very happy with the app.
- Can't create accountby sancjg on 2017-08-24 at 10:19 AM
The app developers put in a checkbox for the EULA that is off of the iPhone SE. Can't check it to start using.

Every doctor and medical student should have it
- Most useful, most fun Derm app!by Dr. Sebastian St. Clair on 2016-07-25 at 3:15 AM
I know this app covers several fields in medicine, but as a senior dermatology resident, This is the best dermatology app available. By just tapping (or typing) in the findings you have, VisualDx creates a personalized differential replete with pictures you can run through to confirm you are on the right track. Then you can read about--or look through more pictures for--the diagnoses you find most useful. Everything you need, from links to more similar-appearing diagnoses, to therapy help, to printable patient education, is all immediately accessible. One of my favorite features is that there are numerous clinical pictures of patients with skin of color. I don't think any other resource can compete. I have wholeheartedly recommended this app to my friends in dermatology, family medicine, internal med, emergency med, and pediatrics for years.
- Why did you change?????by AKC^luvs^MSH on 2016-06-16 at 3:05 PM
I originally bought this app for a dedicated derm /ID source! Pictures, information and content was Fabulous!!! THEN they updated and now is not user friendly, you cannot find anything w derm like before. I will not be renewing my subscription.
- Ok, but old version was better.by EccoRF on 2016-05-11 at 11:21 PM
The new version looks more "modern" but is much more clunky and difficult to use. Navigating was very simple and intuitive but now I've had a harder entering info (or finding where to enter certain pertinent positives). I am an IM resident and previously this app was my go-to for skin conditions or a physical exam finding that I wasn't sure about. When using an phone app most doctors want it to be very simple and easy to use. The old version was perfect. Even the most technologically challenged physician could easily navigate the app. With my huge medical school debt I have to be very picky on what I spend money on and previously this app was worth it to me, however I'm not sure I will renew my subscription (at least in the current state of the app). I really hope they clean up the layout because the underlying information in this app is top-notch.
- Overpricedby Derm Levin on 2016-04-25 at 6:54 PM
I found this app to be useful while I was a dermatology resident and was given access at a discounted price. When I discovered how much I had been charged for subscription renewal immediately after residency, I was shocked at the full price. I contacted the company to request cancellation of the subscription with a prorated refund, but they ignored the request. Bottom line is that it's too expensive for what it is.
- Quiz not working on iPadby Petitchou96 on 2016-04-23 at 9:32 PM
Jut updated to new version. The quiz feature is no longer working on my iPad. This feature is important to reviewing for my upcoming Derm boards. Please fix and I will re-review!
- Great app but...by andrew90 on 2015-07-08 at 12:14 AM
I'd like an update for the iPhone 6 screen adjustment.
- Everything is blurryby medstudent1138 on 2014-10-27 at 2:28 PM
The app UI looks blown-up and fuzzy/blurry. Apparently they're taking the low resolution UI built for the iPhone 5/5S and just scaling it up to the iPhone 6 screen. Looks terrible. The app ought to be displayed at native resolution. But the content is fantastic. By far the best seem app in the store, other than the blurriness.
- NPby DC nurse on 2014-06-09 at 3:45 AM
Best derm reference. I use it in the office at the bedside all the time to show patients their Dx and can use the treatment plans to review my plan of care.
- Awesome appby houseofgodzilla on 2014-05-08 at 7:42 PM
As a med student I love this app, best source our library subscribes to. Great tool for clinic or the classroom. Love the Ddx builder and fact that the reference articles are just the right length for use in busy clinic. Oh yeah.... It has pictures... Lots and lots of pictures. Now they have added a quiz function which is both educational and humbling.

- One of the best apps for visual diagnosisby Skin MD on 2013-06-14 at 10:15 PM
Whether you want help with diagnosing diseases or help with learning new diagnosis, this is the app to get. The best thing about this app is the large picture of diseases database. Their pictures show different representation of stages and locations of the diseases. If you want to get good at visually diagnosing diseases, download this.
- Invaluable app!by kenellzey on 2013-04-10 at 8:49 PM
My background is primary care but I now work in dermatology. VisualDx is invaluable as a quick reference with just the information I need most of the time. I'm also now using the patient handouts which are well-written and an extra source of helpful information for my patients. Wonderful resource!

Great App!! Great info for primary care, internists, mid levels and students! Also very useful for dermatology specialists! Strongly recommend if you have to deal with dermatological conditions on a regular basis, or if derm just interests you.
- Incredibly useful app!by bazomegaly on 2013-04-03 at 4:25 AM
Incredibly useful clinical app for derm in primary care. I use it almost every day in clinic to get instant info on dx & tx of skin conditions
- Need internet connectionby bamprosody on 2012-11-12 at 2:11 PM
App is very useful when I can connect to the internet. I am getting access through my institution and enjoy using it. Unfortunately we do not have wi-fi or reliable cellular reception. -I suggest making, at the very least, the content downloadable and perhaps a key image or two.

- Great derm resourceby Anyaroz on 2012-03-03 at 1:04 PM
What the heck is that rash? With this app, you can plug in what you are seeing on your patient and get a full differential. And impress all your colleagues. And get up to date treatment for the patient. The only bad part is that it is pricey, but if you are dealing with skin conditions on a day to day basis like i do, it is invaluable.
- Price per year high and Internet required at all timeby SamG1989 on 2012-02-17 at 2:50 PM
Price for students is extremely high at $150/year for full app functionality plus requires constant Internet access! Did enjoy the free subscription while it's lasting but as much as I want I continue using he application, it's just impossible me to keep it and the company is not responding to emails regarding any student pricing. I have rotations coming up and that's almost two years which I would love to have this application for but as we stand now it's with a price tag of $300 and once it expires your back to a empty app with nothing usable. The company gets plenty of attention from hospitals around the country maybe that's why they have no intentions of providing a lower price point for students or higher subscription time frame. Suggestions: - make price affordable, If you don't want to lower it then increase the subscription time frame from 1 year to 5 years for ~$200-$250 - Make content downloadable once purchase made from the in-app purchase so we can use it at anytime, anywhere plus much faster than relying on internet/data plan and push monthly updates For now those of you that want something that works but offers just about same content your better off with MEDSCAPE, as content is downloadable and is free. For now I'll continue to live with it and hope they come up with more affordable pricing.
- Love itby Amy scanlon on 2012-02-08 at 5:10 PM
The pictures are great & the diagnoses information is concise
- Great resource for derms and non dermsby kingtoki on 2011-09-27 at 1:21 PM
This app is for medical professionals, not patients in search of a diagnosis. That being said I am a dermatologist who has used this on many occassions to confirm the images in my head. Most useful for atypical morphologies or rare condtions you see once in a year or even once in a career. I am planning on contributing personal kodachromes from my practice to the image database to keep making this an even stronger program!
- Arrhythmia App makerby Fromans II on 2011-09-04 at 5:54 AM
I really like the visualdx app, it is useful in the clinic and ER.
- Good app for med studentby hpok on 2011-05-23 at 4:00 PM
Easy to browse and pinpoint diagnosis. A bit costly, but overall good app for medical professionals.
- Not for me...by Peacelovr32 on 2011-05-06 at 2:24 AM
I got it thinking it could help me to see if I had certain things. If you like gross pictures or are work in the medical field you want this, otherwise no.
- login credentials?by joe mommie on 2011-05-05 at 6:19 AM
why do i need to create ANOTHER username and password just to use free portion of app?
- Needs bookmarks and support multitaskingby pcjr on 2011-03-04 at 4:43 PM
Needs bookmarks feature. Latest update made iPhone version lose the ability to cache pictures. Previously seen photos now have to be reloaded, which is cumbersome as this app relies on the Internet to access content.
- Love thisby Wvusciguy on 2011-02-23 at 5:18 PM
While expensive, a very nice resource for patient care and teaching.
- Great appby Moby Ick on 2010-10-15 at 7:53 PM
Scales up beautifully for the iPad. Particularly helpful for consults in the field. Images are great quality. Hope they implement the print feature when the new ios comes out. Nice job
- Requires networkby KatherineBarden on 2010-10-01 at 3:50 PM
Large as it might be, the option to download content should be available. Otherwise this is useless in hospitals with poor service.

- Excellent app for med students!by <><' on 2010-08-12 at 4:38 AM
I happened to find this on my school's website and am very glad I did; not only is it free but extremely helpful with pictures, pearls, ddx, and tx! One of my top 3 apps that I use almost every day on rotations.
- Very usefulby akb9530 on 2010-07-31 at 12:45 AM
Great reference tool as well as differential builder. The number and quality of images are fantastic.
- No local contentby Trowre on 2010-05-05 at 8:05 PM
Uses Internet to access all content, which makes the app too slow, and unusable in many situations. To be worth buying this app should at least support ddx and basic text locally.
