Voice Tools

Analyse your voice pitch, associated voice gender, & volume in real-time with the ability to record and replay the last 10 seconds. Essentially a voice analyser for transgender, LSVT, singers, and voice therapy patients to help improve the quality of their voice.

-View a graph of your voice pitch/associated gender in a real-time!
-Phonetically balanced sentences for you to read
-Listen to tones of specific pitches for you to mimic
-Record & playback without saving files to your device
-Real-time volume analysis
-Transgender & non-binary friendly

Please note; this app does NOT change the pitch of your voice, it only provides visual feedback specifically tailed for use as part of voice therapy!!!

The voice pitch analysis works best with an external microphone! It will work without an external microphone but please be-aware that results may vary as the voice pitch analysis requires a relatively quiet environment and some phone microphones can pickup a lot of background noise.

This tool is designed to act as a voice recorder/playback/analyser tool but with useful information such as voice pitch, tones, & volume with resonance and phonetics to be added at a later date. It is mostly intended for use as part of voice therapy, and users should be aiming to use the tool for about 5 minutes a day over several months. It does not provide lessons or guidance, it is intended to be used as a tool to assist with voice therapy and not as a replacement for voice therapy.

  • Probably accurate
by ships lams on 2021-04-16 at 2:07 PM

Said I sounded 97% female. Hoping that’ll go down since I’m on testosterone, but for now that’s that. It’s helping me work on my diction when reading aloud and monitor my volume

  • Helped a ton
    by Coraj99 on 2021-04-12 at 2:56 PM

This app has been awesome for visualizing my progress.

  • Total Lifesaver
by AaronBak on 2021-04-12 at 11:29 AM

I love this app. It’s so helpful to have good tools fit training your voice.

  • Best voice training app for trans women

    Period!

  • I showed my speech therapist and she loves it
by EbonyBBW on 2021-04-02 at 12:06 PM

This app works really really well for me and my speech therapist says it helps that I can hear my voice change and make adjustments in rapid succession. Super duper recommend

This is a great app for voice training. Good tools and features. Very helpful with nothing that seems unnecessary.

  • Volume of recording
by wvdyfse on 2021-02-10 at 12:46 AM

Volume of recordings of voice is extremely inconsistent and often almost inaudible. I like the app but this deficiency is frustrating.

  • Just stopped working
by grimmfritter on 2021-02-06 at 10:24 PM

It was decent for what it does at first. Kind of glitchy, but a quick restart would fix it. Just stopped working entirely though, will pick up a short sentence worth of sound then not pick up anything else. Restarting doesn’t help. Have a pretty new iPhone X

  • Hands down the best
by ArborAvery on 2020-12-10 at 6:50 PM

Voice Tools is hands down the best app for voice training i have found! The instant playback for voice pitch is amazing for learning what things actually sound like and where to improve. Not to mention the db meter’s the best i have used for even non voice stuff! I use this app so much!

  • It doesn’t pick up on anything
by ShiningOnyx on 2020-11-25 at 10:09 AM

This app doesn’t pick up any sounds. It’s useless

  • Underlying assumptions are wrong

This app will help you adjust your pitch. That’s cool, and if that’s what you want to do* then go for it. But first, is that really your goal? Cuz I’m betting you’re after what I am: sounding more like a cis woman. Here’s the problem... Pitch won’t do that. Many cis women have lower pitch voices. Likewise, many men have higher voices. Do you get them confused? No. That’s because the primary identifier has little if anything to do with pitch on its own and EVERYTHING to do with RESONANCE. Actually, if we want to get technical then it’s to do with the ratio of the first resonance (R1) to the pitch. However high or low a cis-woman’s pitch (or “fundamental frequency”) is, the gap between it and their first resonance is going to be larger than a cis-man’s. Voice apps can measure both of these and more, but for some reason most of them focus unhelpfully on pitch. MORE unhelpful is the implication apps like this one present that somehow your voice will sound more fem if you can raise your pitch. Eh. Not much, and it’s a lot of work and can actually hurt your vocal folds if strained too far too fast - a point this app makes no mention of. I would recommend reaching out to your trans communities for resources on legit apps and freely shadowable voice lessons. I am in a few Discord servers where this is done with helpful diagrams, apps, and extraordinary vocal coaches demonstrating and giving feedback.

  • Pretty good!
by Olin James on 2020-06-18 at 9:13 AM

The only real issue I have with the app is the Pitch tab. It’s just a little flakey on wether or not it wants to pick up/show that I’ve spoken. My dysphoria appreciates that you can set your target Hz/ turn off gender markers in settings. I really like the Tone tab. It helps me pitch match, and it always picks up that I’m speaking into it. The best one I’ve personally seen. Definitely worth a try if you want to voice train in order to alleviate dysphoria.

  • A high 3, will continue using
by Woodfur on 2020-05-26 at 8:17 AM

I got this just to play around with. I talk halfway into vocal fry range all the time, which is its own issue, but the app doesn't pick this up at all—it just shows gaps in the line. The app could be helpful in training me out of this habit, but the fact still remains that information of interest is missing. The same issue arises when I speak at the top of my range. If this omission is by design, I would like it to be togglable, as it is helpful in some ways but not always.

  • Amazing
    by kade3345 on 2020-05-22 at 5:08 AM

I absolutely love this. It’s really helpful when trying to train your voice to a comfortable point! Also I need to go get some water because I’ve been trying to sound like Bane for an hour and a half.

  • Great
    by 2774bob on 2020-05-04 at 5:51 PM

This is a great app and very simple and works well, and the sentences to read is a nice feature. I noticed you said resonance will be added later, that would be amazing!

  • Thank you
by jaykvastani on 2020-01-19 at 2:49 AM

I’ve been using the live frequency display a lot. Thank you for making this!

  • Dead simple done right
by Ebony Dark'ness Dmtia Rvn Way on 2019-12-01 at 2:45 AM

The most useful free voice app for me. The interface is as super simple and still covers pitch, volume, session stats, and has a time generator. frequency chart is highlighted by gender, but you can turn it off and set personal target ranges as well. The only drawback is you cannot record. you can, however, play back the most recent section at any time.

  • Great mtf app
by dfgjkjfrrv bjijmmkk on 2019-05-16 at 4:26 PM

This app is the perfect companion for anyone trying to transform their voice. It’s very sensitive to frequency (pitch) and is not sensitive to loudness. It just so happens that the pitch of human voice is usually related to loudness/softness of our speech. That is, talking loudly naturally lowers pitch and speaking very softly naturally raises pitch. This can be overcome with training which is what this app is ideal for. I used it during speech therapy and it continuously provides valuable feedback.

  • Doesn’t work as intended
by Grace Coyle on 2019-04-05 at 5:01 AM

The pitches are random, and primarily go by volume. I’m a guy, but it claimed that I had a high voice. But as soon as I started talking quieter and quieter, the pitch claimed to have gotten lower and lower.
