  • Best app for anxiety ever
by Kuku Cachoo on June 28, 2021 at 12:46 am

I am diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and this is the best app to help me calm down. It has actionable methods that it walks you through as you do them. It had great positive quotes but that’s not all the app is unlike many other anxiety apps. My favorite section is the grounding techniques that lead you through the five senses. It helps me calm down so much. Thanks so much to the creators of this app.

  • Thanks
    by Donnie'sgirl34 on June 14, 2021 at 10:37 am

I didn't even know there were apps like this and I found this one by accident. It's helped me put somethings into perspective.

  • Unable to create an account
    by [Drea4] on March 1, 2021 at 3:50 am

The app seemed good, but every time I tried to post something in the forum it would say I needed a valid account. I’ve been trying to create an account by filling in the username section, email address, etc, but when I hit the create button it just gives me an alert message. It won’t create an account for me.

  • Cons of the Forums
    by LovinDePuppies <3 <3 <3 😀 on February 2, 2021 at 2:23 am

Provides easy and immediate access to coping strategies and techniques that users can rely when experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Users are give information to understand their feelings and emotions, as well as ways they can break the cycle of feeling this way. However, forums should be better controlled. Anyone can post anything, which can be hurtful to users, especially teens. Although it is said that the app is for anyone that is 4 years old and older, children that do not know how to read will not be able to use it. Individuals that are visually impaired will not be able to use it either. An interesting point that was made by Steinberg (2014) is that the pain that adolescence experience when they are social rejected “closely resembles physical pain in neurological terms that taking acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, actually can help alleviate it” (95). Being socially rejected is a painful experience for teens that can definitely make things worse for those that are already struggling. Based on the review criteria above and my own experience with What’s Up, I would rate this app a 3 out 5. What’s Up has many different coping strategies and techniques that users can access whenever they are in need of it. However, individuals can post whatever they want on the forums that can potentially harm users.

  • Amazing
by dietcokelove on January 27, 2021 at 12:58 am

I have been struggling with anxiety for a while trying to figure out coping mechanisms when I found what’s up- I got it during an anxiety attack and used the game to help- it was amazing 10/10 recommend this app

  • Hoping for something that could actually help
by psylawn on January 21, 2021 at 6:30 pm

I was looking for a CBT app that could help me understand and cope with my intrusive BDD thoughts. Instead, I got an app full of basic platitudes and an option to journal (wow so revolutionary). The fonts are ugly, the layout is not user friendly, and the options for help are extremely limited. Go with something like Youper if you’re looking for habit/mood tracking, because this app was just... not it.

  • YOU NEED THIS
by Riyam Tota on December 18, 2020 at 7:58 pm

I was not feeling good today, but i downloaded this app and it made me a whole lot better. It made my day! To the developer: THANK YOU SO MUCH! You really are saving lives out here by just creating this app.

It’s to basic and there’s just not much to do.

  • Highly Reccommend!
by SamGCMU on November 4, 2020 at 12:16 am

I’ve only just started using this app, but I am already in love with this app all around! I have personally have had experiences with anxiety and depression episodes and this app has given me an outlet. This is an informative, simple to use app that can also give quick help especially with anxiety! It walks you through a series of actions and activities to bring you back and grounded to reality. It gives you all the right tools you’ll need to be aware of your emotions and surroundings. This app also gives soooo many great coping strategies that help you with the thoughts and feelings you are going through, I have already used a few and it’s helped tremendously!! Some of the coping strategies that are used in this app is called: Thinking patterns, metaphors, manage worries, and positive steps. Thinking patterns: it helps identify the unhealthy thinking patterns, challenge and distance yourself from them, and see the situation in a different way. Metaphors: this uses a story or illustration to see alternative ways of looking at something and helping you make decision in a more effective way in life. Manage worries: this is where it gives 10 different approaches to try like “setting aside worry time” to “replaying the worry till your tired” as well as a few other examples. Positive steps: this gives you multiple options to take a step in the right direction of feeling better like “helping others” to “learning a new skill/hobby” to “simply relax”. This relates to Abnormal Psych and anxiety by how it affects the 3 components: cognitive, physical, and behavioral. This app helps these components on multiple levels for a person and it gives the person a way to quickly help through a panic attack. This app even has a way where you can document all your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, negative habits; this gives a way for a person to to keep a tab on their self and how much they may have changed physically, mentally, or emotionally.

  • It’s a REAL tool not a list of inspirational quotes
    by JmeAl3na on November 2, 2020 at 3:09 am

I am giving a explanation because I think I’m not the only one that avoids mental health apps and want to reassure them that this app is nothing like any of the other apps. Also as a genuine thank you to the developer 🙏 Nothing is worse than thinking something can help you just to find out it is filled with “live love laugh”, “you’re special”, “omg mercury in retrograde”. That’s all nice but it is shallow and unhelpful. Some apps with breathing exercises and cutesy quotes really make me feel invalidated and that feeling better is just as easy as namaste. That if you just say the word “positive” over and over nothing bad will ever happen. So when I found this app I was sooooo happy. I share it with anyone overwhelmed by their mental state and especially when they had little resources available. I have severe anxiety attacks from PTSD and this app has saved my life. It is clear the developer is a professional and is focused on helping people get grounded and understand their emotions on a deeper level. Sometimes there is just no level of advice that takes the intensity of an emotion away. Sometimes you are just going to feel but this helped me through that in one piece and educated me on how to identify what I need.

  • Very useful! Thank you
by mothwish on October 6, 2020 at 2:56 am

I've trued so many apps that help you check in with yourself and calm down, or become more aware of your surroundings instead of your feelings and etc. None of them have ever really helped despite me wishing they could. They have too many features and I'll get confused and even more frustrated. This app is so simple and rounded that I was able to navigate it while starting to go into a panic and then found the right tools to help me calm down. It reminded me to breathe and think of this moment and I'm so grateful, these times have been hard. Thank you so much to the developer(s); I am happy to have donated to such a genuine app. :^) Edit to my review: I still like to use this app for the tools it has, but I don't use it nearly as much. The forums are also pretty bad and could make someone feel worse than they already do since there's so much drama and uncensored content on there. I can tell most of the people on there are teens or kids, which isn't the developer's fault, but it does have a negative effect on the app overall.

Not working for this version IOS. Please fix.

  • The app doesn’t allow me to create an account
by Katryn C on August 7, 2020 at 4:47 am

The app is very good, but it's limiting me because it doesn't even allow me to create an account. I would like to participate in the Forums, but without a registered account, I cannot. Why is this error happening to me with the app? Please, I want to know how to solve it. Thank you.

  • Extraordinary resource
    by lg&incharge on July 29, 2020 at 11:02 am

As a mental health practitioner, this is a wonderful resource to provide my clients to better manage emotional triggers and to remember what coping skills they have. Thank you for this app!

  • A hidden gem - lots of good resources and helpful advice for depression and anxiety
by letmepetallthecats on July 9, 2020 at 8:43 pm

It may not be the flashiest app but there are a lot of great resources in here. I find myself coming back to it often and feel like every time I discover a new feature or just rediscover something that speaks to me.

  • Love it but needs an update!!
by valeskawerschitz on May 19, 2020 at 6:28 pm

I love this app. I Check it every now and then when I have anxiety, but it would be a lot better if there was an update to make it a little bit more modern because it looks like an app I would’ve had 10 years ago on iPhone 4 but other than that I love it and I highly recommend it!

  • Can’t use it
by saraphiad on April 2, 2020 at 9:12 pm

  • So far so good
by LDS and proud on February 16, 2020 at 2:47 am

I downloaded this app on a recommendation, an then didn’t open it for five days. Once I did though, it was a relief to realize that I must not be alone if this app was created in the first place. There is some great info here, and ideas for developing new techniques to deal with my emotions. Looking forward to spending more time here.

  • Best app ever
    by CeCeCheyanne2020 on January 10, 2020 at 2:39 pm

I have been seeking an app to help me manage my life and I came across what’s up and i am completely blown away. I have literally just started using it and I love it. You can tell that that thought and sincerity was put into making this app. It’s completely free unless you want different themes and it’s perfect!

  • 👏👏👏
    by libbidy2010 on January 1, 2020 at 2:50 am

I’m very impressed! This app is everything that’s right, honestly. I was so skeptical. I have several diagnosis including C-PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Panic Disorder, bipolar 1, agoraphobia, dissociation, etc. If I have a bad enough panic attack, I lose nights of sleep, which triggers my bipolar mania. I can have panic attacks because I’m afraid of having a panic attack. I work hard for my stability and if I think I’m losing it I fall apart. My point is, this app helps me tremendously when I’m triggered. It grounds me in ways I’ve heard of in therapy but haven’t been able to utilize during episodes. Now that these proven methods are all in one app, I can use them without much effort. Yesterday I called a crisis line. When that didn’t work I figured I’d look for anything else to help. It’s the weekend and it’s New Years, my counselor isn’t available. This app is always there; when it’s late, the weekend, anytime. If you struggle at all with any aspect of your mental health, I highly recommend this app. Especially if you have panic attacks or things like ptsd or agoraphobia. It could save you hours or days of recovery time. To the creator(s) of this app. From the bottom of my black-and-blue heart, thank you 🙏 UPDATE: I do not recommend the forums they are toxic. Everything else 10/10

  • It’s okay
by charity windom on December 9, 2019 at 10:35 pm

The app is really useful but when you go into the forums there’s so much drama, it made me a lot more depressed than I was. There were a lot of friendly people but I was called insulting names by some people.

  • Works great for panic/anxiety attacks
by jelyn on November 9, 2019 at 1:27 am

I find this app very helpful because it lets you choose between many different activities, many with assist with an in the moment anxiety/panic attack. Simple but wonderfully effective

    by niki.r16 on November 1, 2019 at 11:58 am

Thank you for making this app. I’m very stressed and anxious and cry all the time for no reason. Your app makes me feel like I’m not alone and is very detailed and though rough. I love the journal option. I love the help I’ve received. This app is my favorite one on my phone.

  • Happy!
    by lillybird20 on October 15, 2019 at 2:21 pm

This is perfect for me, I have borderline personality disorder and this is like a dbt skills book condensed into a simple format that is great for me when I am overwhelmed, simply just upset etc. thank you very much- this is the first app I’ve found that actually helps me 💕

  • Virtually useless
by writefast on September 25, 2019 at 1:17 am

For me, almost profoundly useless. The ideas and the mindfulness stuff, pretty good. The forums? A cesspool.

  • Incredible!
    by Kay.Equestrian on August 12, 2019 at 9:48 pm

Such an awesome reliable app to turn to when things start to travel down hill. It’s extremely user friendly and very helpful, my favorite on there is the “get grounded” it’s so so helpful it distracts me easily and I completely forget about what I was worrying myself with!

  • Really helpful
    by Randomword21 on July 27, 2019 at 5:06 am

This app has helped many times in getting my anxiety and stress levels down. The grounding, affirmations and inspiring quotes have really helped through some tough moments.

  • Great!
by djmarva on June 24, 2019 at 1:45 am

This is a wonderful app. I’ve been in CBT therapy for the past year. I decided to download some CBT apps, and I’ve since deleted all of them except this one. I particularly like the catastrophe scale as well as the diary, which allows you to rate your feelings and check off which types of faulty thinking you may be doing. The help right now section is great. Also great quotes and affirmations. Thank you to the developers!

  • This app can help any one!
    by ¥@%^+ on June 14, 2019 at 12:48 am

I started using this app to help me on a 30 day alcohol challenge but discovered it is way more useful than just that. It’s great to help get through times when I’m feeling low and has helped me gain perspective a couple of times when I was angry with someone. This app is simple and easy yet very effective. I am able to document stuff in my diary, set goals and make notes about my progress and feelings so I can review everything later. There is also a help now feature that again, is quite simple, but so effective! I would recommend that everyone use this app because, after all, who couldn’t use some help now and again to deal with problems, feelings, memories etc...thank you for developing the app. It’s helping me a lot. Oh, almost forgot...I LOVE the fact that I can pass code protect this app with a pwd or just a numeric code!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • My absolute favorite app for anxiety
by sudacla on May 10, 2019 at 3:44 pm

Love love love it. I've suffered from depression and anxiety for years. Many mental health apps have come and gone but I've kept this one consistently (longer than almost any other) since it offers such quick, clear help. I use it mostly for anxiety for quick help, for my depression for more general help. When you're really freaking out (or just a bit!) this is the easiest one I've found to get quick help where I don't have to think too much about how to use the app itself in order to let it help me. Open the app, top choice is "Help Right Now" - so simple! Click it and the choice is equally clear "Stop!" Click that and it walks you through a short series of actions to calm you down and bring you back to reality. So many of the others are too wordy or too many bells and whistles; you can’t find your way around or if I do find my way usually it’s difficult to find the helpful parts again, esp. if I’m really in crisis. When I'm not in a crisis, the rest of the app is equally helpful and gives lots of clear good ideas of techniques for overall feeling better. Keep up the good work you guys and thank you so so so much for all many times of this app's support and calming me down and helping me back to reality.

I have waves of anxiety and stress most of my days now because of certain things that are happening in my life. Using this does help me so much... it snaps me back into reality and has lots of different ways to help me manage my stress, emotions and over thinking. Seriously, THANK YOU 🙏🏼

I’ve only just gotten to where the themes are explained and I already adore this app, it’s incredibly frustrating when you attempt to get help but an app forces you to pay to unlock it but this app is forth coming with all of it and for that I already adore it.

  • Thank you

  • Glitches and stalling on forums.
    by Leeza4696219 on November 25, 2018 at 4:17 am

It seems like it would be a great app but it has bugs. I am logged in with newly updated password, including into forums, but when I try to reply to anyone, app just glitches and stalls with that processing sign running on screen. it never recovers, and then I just have to shut the app and reopen it, with the same result at the forum.

I was just diagnosed with bipolar. This app is everything I could want to help track my mood, things going on in my life, my attitude, along with a huge variety of helpful exercises. Thank you to the creator. This app made me feel less alone

  • An Absolutely Sublime Tool
    by Emma's iPhone 6 on November 6, 2018 at 9:32 am

By far the best designed app I have found both in function and content for CBT support. Upon installing the app and browsing the content, I was exuberant! It feels like the app was created just for me and the knowledge I learned during my recent hospitalization. Thank you for creating this and sharing it. I'm doing my best to share with others and can only hope the developer will continue to provide updates and support for this essential tool (in my personal toolbox). "You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging."
