Impression and review of people to iPhone App [Wikipedia]!

  • Amazing app! Just one small problem…
by Zain Al-Shemmeri on June 25, 2022 at 9:14 pm

It’s a really good app! It’s faster than opening the website on my phone. It’s very customizable too! I love the way you can save the articles. I’ve learned a lot from this app too and I read new articles every day! But there is one small problem, it won’t let me play video or audio files in the articles!! I don’t like having to go on my computer to see the videos/audio. I hope this is fixed soon. But even then, it’s an app everyone should get!!

  • Cannot read using dark mode
by pamuhk on June 24, 2022 at 2:30 am

The app is great. I like the bunch of features they have developed. My mayor concern is that I am not able to read using dark mode. I usually read math articles, and most of the math expressions are not visible when dark mode is selected. I would love for this to work since I usually read at night.

  • I Despise the wikipedia Application for the iPhone.
    by Fox~Trot on June 21, 2022 at 2:01 am

Many Applications installed on a phone permit one to Force a webpage (or the application itself) to display the Desktop version of the host. The mobile-device-friendly rendition that many hosts “helpfully” cram down our throats I find uselessly obnoxious to my way of using the material there.

  • Useable, but buggy
by Ghostfeint on June 20, 2022 at 12:02 pm

If you visit a page for a sports league season while in dark mode, the text will be white on a white background for things like a tournament bracket and you can’t read the information.

  • The world in your hands, with one flaw
    by holdenma020 on June 20, 2022 at 6:36 am

It’s Wikipedia, but accessible from anywhere. You want to know something? Here you go! However, for whatever reason this app still does not play videos or audio files in the app. I’ve had it installed on three different iPhones and an iPad across numerous versions of iOS, and there hasn’t been a single time where media would play in the app. That’s the only blemish on an otherwise perfect app.

  • Almost perfect
    by MattyRich845 on June 18, 2022 at 9:59 pm

What keeps me in the browser as opposed to the app is the ability to hover over a link (or long press/hold) and see the preview of the linked article. If I am reading an article on “cells”, it would be nice to be able to hover over a link such as “mitochondria” and see that short preview inn line with the current web experience, as opposed to having to click the link and open the “mitochondria” article, forcing me to leave that which I am trying to read in order to get a brief understanding of what may just be an unfamiliar vocabulary word. Thanks!

  • Incredible!
by christinaxhansen on June 17, 2022 at 4:15 pm

I love getting the information I’m searching for, plus more!

  • Fantastic UI
by Shmemulock on June 16, 2022 at 9:08 pm

The UI on this app is phenomenal. I have only just started using the app, but I haven’t run into any problems and everything runs smoothly and looks aesthetically pleasing. I recommend!!

  • What is the advantage?
by ThomasAlice on June 14, 2022 at 7:06 pm

The app is no more useful than a bookmark in Safari, as far as I can tell.

  • Beautiful UI
    by rene11111 on June 12, 2022 at 3:11 am

Incredibly intuitive, one of the best designed apps I’ve ever used, only wished it was a bit easier to navigate the actual articles

  • My Plan B, but now my go-to
by fjpoblam on June 11, 2022 at 7:42 pm

V for Wikipedia is dead after many happy years. ☹︎ Now it’s this. I’ve donated to Wikipedia for 10 years (you should too). This app’ll have to do. I only wish I could change the font (Helvetica’s a yawner.) And don’t try to navigate, especially to give feedback: a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. V for Wikipedia is dead: All Hail Wikipedia!

  • I love this app.
by wasupsude on June 8, 2022 at 3:18 pm

I have never wrote a review for an app before but I am here for this one. The app UI is responsive and user friendly. It has everything a reading app should have except one thing. I’d love to have a feature which takes me to the sentence where I left and highlight it when I continue read the article.

  • Ok but there’s a glitch with “save article “ button
by Bling Diggity on June 7, 2022 at 12:10 am

Newest version has a glitch when trying to save an article. Have to press the Save button multiple times. After saving to 1 list it becomes impossible to save to another. But articles show up randomly multiple times on the same list even when only saved once.

  • Takes very long to open
by fjeidndeirheksn on June 3, 2022 at 6:52 am

App takes ~10 seconds to open every time I enter into it, even when simply moving to another app and coming back to Wikipedia seconds later. Not sure if this is just me or the app needs work to get this fixed.

  • Awesome App
by Scoobydoolego on May 25, 2022 at 11:56 am

This app is amazing. I love going down Wikipedia rabbit holes and learning obscure and useless information. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  • Love it, but….
by Terryhendricks on May 23, 2022 at 9:48 pm

It’s an invaluable resource. One suggestion, though. As a proofreader for a newspaper, it bothers me that in your articles, the punctuation (comma, period) is placed AFTER the quotation marks. They should be INSIDE the quotation marks. Whoever is proofreading your writers is doing it wrong.

  • Doesn’t work anymore
    by msjsjssjsjsdd(#( on May 23, 2022 at 9:34 pm

I’ve been using Wikipedia for a while but however today nothing is loading I tried closing the app I tried deleting it I even restarted my phone but it still doesn’t work please fix it soon

  • My Wiki-Go-To App
    by Orca688 on May 21, 2022 at 2:41 pm

My opinion - Wikipedia app and the web version are 2nd in comprehensive resources only to the hardcopy versions of Encyclopedia Brittanica and the like - which are now found only in university libraries, those of the rich, and in Public Libraries. Reliable, Quotable, and superbly Interactive, it … “Doesn’t get much better than that…” - Master Chief Billy Foster, COB, USS Pollack (SSN603)

  • Love it, but needs one thing:
by Kolmo Harnes on May 19, 2022 at 10:58 pm

Please add the random article button!

  • Most-used iPhone app
    by earth2eric on May 15, 2022 at 10:05 pm

I love the Wikipedia app. I practically live on it. The search feature is efficient and effectively resolves the majority of my queries without the advertising pushs of the search apps for Google or Bing. I have reading lists that give me a lot to learn and contemplate on transit trips—reading Wikipedia all day on the train! Wikipedia has completely transformed itself into a very reliable, accurate first source of information on the net. It is the digital encyclopedia and has achieved its potential.

  • Presents only their side of an issue or view
    by kar541956 on May 4, 2022 at 5:39 pm

I’ve been using Wikipedia almost since it’s inception. The site has changed dramatically over the years. If you attempt to enhance substance or comments to an article, if their overlords determine it doesn’t fit their narrative, it will be deleted. Including simple modifications of incorrect information. Only their “editors” deem what are considered “credible sources”. This applies, whether the information comes major main stream media sources and even government entities. If it doesn’t fit their narrative, it will be removed. They have a one-sided political slant. If you deviate, you will be silenced even when truthful and properly sourced. Soviet style propaganda.

by Ajmir wessal on April 25, 2022 at 1:33 pm

The application is very good and fast. But it doesn’t have more options. Please add more options for this application.

  • Top notch
    by Godly.qt on April 23, 2022 at 2:25 pm

Not only is Wikipedia great, the app is smooth and aesthetically pleasing. Easy to navigate to find the information you need. It’s my favorite search resource for topics, words etc.

  • Pretty, but needs tabs
    by AppRater52 on April 20, 2022 at 7:45 am

How can I go down rabbit holes without tabs? Adding to lists is an ok workaround but takes like three clicks.

  • Arabic language is broken
by ToffeeMe on April 19, 2022 at 2:52 pm

Whenever i change the language to arabic It display the texts but separated letters and that’s so confusing. I have updated my iPhone xs software recently to ios15, I don’t know if that’s the reason because this the first time i face this afternoon having the app for almost 3 years.

  • Tabs
by shmoface on April 16, 2022 at 9:45 am

I personally love being able to read articles through the app, but not having the ability to have multiple tabs open does restrict research.

  • Lacking

I live in the USA, but the app seems to think I live in the UK. I have location shared while using and location set to precise locaatipn.

  • Amazing, endless information in only one app!
by Cxrmcg on April 4, 2022 at 2:24 pm

I’ve always been a huge supporter of what Wikipedia stands for - the endless amount of information that anybody can access in order to become better informed! When I found out all of this was translated into an app, I was joyous (as weird as that sounds lol). Now when I’m traveling, or eating, or seriously whenever I have free time, I just get on this app and start reading. It’s very easy to use (keep in mind that I am a reader, not an editor so I do not have an editor’s experience with this app). The interface is quite lovely, giving customization options in order to fit individual reading preferences. It really is a privilege to live in a society where information can be so accessible, especially thanks to Wikipedia who preaches the ethics of information being free and in anybody’s disposal. My immigrant mother who is still learning English appreciates the Spanish accessibility as well! It’s just an amazing app, and I would 100% recommend it to anybody. The world is at our fingertips, why not?

  • Doesn’t support embedded audio files
    by SWHam1966 on April 1, 2022 at 2:33 pm

Why doesn’t the Wikipedia Foundation’s own app support playing the Vorbis format for the audio files that are embedded in its articles?

  • Disconnected Arabic letters
by MissRSA on April 1, 2022 at 12:26 pm

The viewing experience is bad when I try to read any article in Arabic. All of the Arabic letters are in disconnected form, which is not how Arabic is written. Arabic letters must be connected to form words. I have tried to change the text size to fix this, but the problem is persistent.

  • Hi
by heath andrew ledger on April 1, 2022 at 4:32 am

This good app of the good reading all good site on this app

  • Why no tabs?
    by mrmatthew2 on March 30, 2022 at 1:57 pm

Switched from android to iOS recently. The android Wikipedia app allows you to open articles in separate tabs, like a web browser. The iOS app is missing this entirely. Why? I really miss that functionality.

  • Very Bias
by Eichercraig on March 29, 2022 at 2:39 am

Wikipedia is extremely left leaning and bias towards the right. It will edit anything that compliments Trump or Trump related. Outright lies and misinformation. Pure left wing propaganda.

  • Good App Except Poor Audio and Video Playback
by havesomepham on March 27, 2022 at 12:32 pm

I really like this app except when hitting play on any audio or video file, I get an endless loading icon. To replicate, try searching up any country and clicking on their national anthem.

  • Awesome app
    by Andrey_dzung on March 27, 2022 at 3:36 am

In the age of short videos and continuous instant gratification, Wikipedia app stands for a very meaningful app. It encourages a wide range view of the world and helps us see what matters.

  • Feedback for Wikipedia
by mellonsr on March 26, 2022 at 1:41 pm

While I live the app and read Wikipedia pages daily, I wish there was a way to highlight articles, leave notes on the highlights and have those organized. Similar to how it work on a Kindle. Would be super helpful for learning and studying.

  • Excellent service & app
by Qwerrtyuiopppkjhgfdsazxcvbnn on March 24, 2022 at 6:10 pm

    6 stars

  • Fantastic app with one major glitch
    by latteboy50 on March 20, 2022 at 12:59 pm

First of all, I love this app. It is very professionally made. The UI is clean and intuitive. Links work how you’d expect them to, it’s easy to search, navigate through pages and find words within articles. But there is one major glitch that makes me extremely frustrated - editing documents. For some reason the cursor is virtually unusable when editing documents. It jumps around and sometimes just gets stuck in place making it impossible to set it where you want to begin typing. There are other problems with it that I won’t get into but really the only flaw of this app id the editing UI. This app would be absolutely PERFECT if that is fixed. But if you don’t edit pages like I do, you’ll absolutely love this app! Think of all the FREE information you’re getting from this app. Truly mind-boggling the world that we live in.

  • Be still my heart!
by Gxdmachine on March 19, 2022 at 6:32 pm

    I absolutely love Wikipedia!!!

  • Not audio or video files in the Official app?
by mitriv on March 17, 2022 at 8:37 am

Why do we have to download another app besides this one to reproduce audio and video files?

  • The only app you will ever need
    by littleclam07 on March 8, 2022 at 2:57 am

Delete google. Delete safari. Wikipedia is the only place I want to get my information. I’m looking up a actresses age and find out that they used to be an MMA fighter. Google cant do that for me. The ease in which I can dig deeper into articles. Outstanding. Some nights I’ll go on a Wikipedia deep dive for hours. I start with Sydney Sweeney and end up on the history of hawaii. Nothing brings me more joy than this app.

  • Wikipedia is Garbage
by Sex Criminal Near You on March 3, 2022 at 8:29 pm

I never ever use this “encyclopedia” because they have completely destroyed and raped the truth on everything they feel is opposed to their sick political ideology! This is as fascist as it gets, folks! Use Infoplease or Citizendium if you want to be truly informed. Wikipedia is total racket run by people who are trash. I’d give -5 stars if I could!

  • Move over Britannica.
by [email protected] on February 24, 2022 at 12:10 pm

A website slew two demons at once: vexation and time-dilation: To Wit: Wikipedia delivers and delivers fast. Pop-ups are not a distraction as you’re researching a particular item or simply checking your memory on any given subject. Comprehensive information is provided w/o fuss and commercial interruption. In summation, very End-User friendly. -James
