  • Great app to learn French but too greedy people
by udhxnxnxjx on 2019-07-12 at 10:28 PM

Only one free course stop being so greedy!

  • Good App
by Ontman on 2018-05-03 at 10:07 PM

I like it very much and I would give it five stars save for a couple of items. I can’t seem to get the sound to work with my blue tooth devices and there is no way to adjust the audio playback. I mean it always goes fast and most of the time I can’t get the words out fast enough. Other than that I do not regret buying it. I’m very much looking forward to the updates.

  • Disappointing. This turned into a tourist app.
by Ecphotographer on 2018-02-03 at 11:04 PM

The old app was more objective oriented and had more to offer in the free app. I could go right to a category and build my vocabulary. For the $20, it was the best alternative to Rosetta Stone. Now, the old app is not supported and this new one is wasting my short time with a dating conversation scenario. It should be a separate app and offer a little more if I’m going to fork over another $20. Please bring back the old app.

  • Best language learning app
by 超boy on 2014-11-24 at 12:07 AM

It's a bit of mystery to me why more people haven't caught on to Hello Hello, but if you are reading this, rest assured, you've found the right app. I'm a Spanish teacher and I first used Hello Hello to learn Mandarin and now I'm working on French. I've checked out just about every language learning app out there and Hello Hello is the only one that has taken the time to apply proven language learning methodology correctly, and, most importantly, it works. There's nothing terribly flashy about the app; it focusses on 30 high frequency conversations situations and then guides you through learning them through listening, reading, speaking and writing. It's really that simple, but you won't find another app out there that does this. Why? My guess is that it isn't all that easy. People seem to love flash card apps, spaced repetition and games, and I suppose that is because they are easy and fun, but those apps really can't teach you the language; they can only reinforce bits and pieces of it. Hello Hello forces you to bridge the gaps on your own. The conversations aren't particularly exciting, but they explore each topic thoroughly and give you a ton to learn. The trick is that you have do most of the work on your own. You need to figure out the grammar, make the connections, learn the vocab. But, like it or not, that is the best way to make it stick. This app gets you ready to communicate with other people in the language you are learning, and I've found no others that do it nearly as well as Hello Hello.

  • Price!
by Prostomur on 2012-02-09 at 11:12 PM

    Need to pay for lessons?

  • Misleading
by AlwaysAugust on 2012-02-09 at 8:05 PM

    Same complaint as others.

  • Scam
by bamundgaard on 2012-02-09 at 7:05 PM

This app may be a great learning tool ... I can say that their business ethic is not great. They report that the price had dropped from $14.99 to free but then lock all the lessons so that you still have to pay $14.99 to get the content. Very misleading.

  • Lie!
    by A.NIK on 2012-02-09 at 4:43 PM

This app is really good, great learning curve and great quality. but,... Do NOT pay for 14.99 it is a lie. after that you must pay another 14 or something to unlock lessons. I don't know what to call this!!!!

  • Bait and Switch
by luna noire on 2012-02-09 at 1:13 PM

This app uses a bait and switch tactic, one that Apple should be aware of. No where in the description of the app does it tell you that the lessons are locked and you need to pay $14.99 for them. If they offer the app for free they are supposed to make the purchaser aware that there are in app purchases BEFORE they download the app. So this begs the question: if you pay $14.99 for the app at the normal price, do you STILL have to pay another $14.99 to unlock the lessons? If so, this is one of the most colossal rip-offs in the AppStore. You can learn just as much French by listening to some of the excellent FREE podcasts available in iTunes. The French is very basic and very outdated. I noticed several of the flashcard congrugations are incorrect. It's important to be able to speak French correctly or the French will look at you very strangely. The incorrect sentences this app offers are silly. They should have picked up on that especially since they are charging $14.99. Tant pis as I had high hopes for this app to use as a quick refresher before I return to France. Buyer beware.

  • Great App
    by mountainlion22101 on 2011-06-07 at 9:08 AM

After visiting Paris, I made myself a promise to learn French. I was recommended this app by my university instructor and am already looking forward to visit Paris again as I will be prepared to communicate in French language soon.

  • Cute graphics & easy to follow
by AnnaDPT on 2011-03-26 at 8:44 PM

I have been using Hello Hello French on my iPad. Happy to see it made it's way to the iPhone! Great if you don't have a lot of free time but want to learn a language on the go.... I think it's better than Rosetta Stone. Looking forward to more languages!
