Dear DragonVale, I never played this game, BUT DONT STOP READING, I never played it because of the ad you guys had. The most horrendous noise I’ve ever heard. It sounded like a flute broke in the middle of a kindergarten talent show and the kid kept playing. My ears were hurting throughout the entire advertisement, and at the very end of it, after my ear drums burst, my head ringing climaxed, and my neck muscles pulled from slamming my head. At the very end, it says “Dragonvale” as if you’re proud of that ad. Please if you want people to play this game, CHANGE THE AD. The ad was so bad I looked this game up and downloaded it just so I can say stop. Make the music more pleasant, or take the flute out. Thank you. Sincerely, Me P.S: I’m never playing this game for that ad alone, others probably feel the same. So CHANGE IT […]

by Flamingjellyfish on 2018-11-19 at 10:16 PM

Uh...it’s a free in-app purchase based game, there’s not a lot to *do* besides breeding dragons (I mean, when you level up enough you can race them and send them on quests and stuff?) but it’s still pretty cool. The dragons are extremely varied and fun to watch. It’s enjoyable whether you spend money or not, you just get more stuff faster if you pay. Also you can voluntarily watch the occasional ad for benefits. The game has a silly pun-based sense of humor. If you’re deciding between this in DragonVale World, get DragonVale World. Or both. […]

by Betsey in WOO on 2018-11-19 at 2:05 AM

I’ve played this game since the beginning— for years I had all the dragons. It used to be my favorite game. But about 6-8 months ago there was a clear change in management of this game and it has been ruined. It is impossible to get the new dragons without spending ridiculous amounts of money. I’d had rather they just taken the game down than ruined it like this. It is frustrating and disappointing. For shame, Backflip, for treating your loyal players like this. 💔 […]

    by ucent247 on 2018-11-18 at 11:23 PM

Let me start by saying I’ve been playing this game for years since it’s initial release, and it’s always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I want so badly to give five stars but these new events are killing me. How can anyone possibly get these new dragons without investing real money? I understand you want to make gameplay more interesting, but this is the wrong approach. The forums are full of people confused over the requirements for these Halloween dragons and I haven’t even bothered to try with them. Pros: relatively easy to earn a decent amount of gems, always new dragons to breed, all around fun Cons: after the introduction of the rift things have gotten way too complicated. Ghostly forms, performing “rituals.” The rituals would be fun if they were puzzles or something, not a motivator to buy candy and gems. Oh, and if you think I’m wasting the evolution on my chromacorn dragon I spent WEEKS breeding for you’re delusional. Edit: down to one star because of the huge pointless wave of ghost dragons Oh, and also because the thanksgiving festival steps are RIDICULOUS […]

  • Changes disappointing
by Bjorgens on 2018-11-18 at 7:38 PM

Is this game under new ownership or something??? I’ve been playing this game for years - I think from its first year. Graphics are great, and the basic game is fun. I think I rated it 5 stars a few years ago. I’m rating it lower here, hopefully to help developers (or new owners???) realize how the changes they are making are hurting the game. I filled out a survey recently about the game, but none of the questions got at the problem. For players to love and stick with a game, they have to feel like they are successful. That they can “win.” There has to be hope. DV is slowly eroding the hope, and now, for me, this recent event has at last completely blown out what little flicker of hope remained. Players want to be able to collect all the dragons! That’s what a breeding game is all about! We want to see our Dragonariums breath fire, if only for a little while! New dragons are being introduced at what feels like an exponential rate, and the restrictions for how to breed them have become ludicrous. I had all the dragons not too long ago, now I’m missing 21. And I know that in a few weeks, another half dozen or so will be introduced, and I’ll be further behind. I don’t play games to watch myself fall farther and farther behind. What a waste of time that is! I play the game to relax, not to be asking myself “What’s the point?” The breeding guide app I have is full of players saying goodbye. I will be, too, at this rate. I don’t think I will EVER be able to breed these newest dragons. (I don’t mind spending a few bucks now and then on an app I enjoy, and I’ve spent a few dollars on this game over the past several years, but I will not spend lots of $$$ to own computer generated icons with the knowledge that in a few weeks I will be behind yet again.) To keep players playing, please dangle the carrot a little closer! And if it does turn out that the game is under new ownership or management, then that explains a lot. Greed talks. […]

  • Best Game Ever!
by ValeFolk 9 on 2018-11-18 at 12:13 PM

This game is so cute. I find no problem with things whatsoever, but I’ve noticed quite a few people uninstalling this game due to high prices on items in the events, and with actual money in the market. Anyway, this game is definitely the best one I’ve come across. (Thank y’all Backflip) I first got the game with no intention to play it. I was 9 when I first got it, keep in mind. I just got it so it wouldn’t give me adds anymore. Then a day later I actually started playing it and it was the best thing since sliced bread. It. Was. So. Cute!!!!! Then I started having an obsession with dragons and I even sent you one of my drawings! It was the cheeked dragon, my drawing skills have improved a lot. Now I just sit in my room every day drawing dragons, one day I even hope I get to work for y’all in the drawing department. Honestly, I know this rating is really long, but Dragonvale! It may be a little confusing at first, but stick with it.!!!!! […]

  • Getting fed up with the changes
by ......Please Read on 2018-11-17 at 4:47 PM

I’ve been playing this game since about a year after it was released and I had been loving until about the last year of updates. The events are so short and one right after the other giving the players no time to relax and get other dragons that are not part of events. Instead of a week to get your prizes once the event ends you have 24 hours and no time to waste. Everything in the events cost way to much and it’s impossible to get the amount of event currency you need to buy even one dragon. For example, it’s about eleven days into the most current event and I only have a 2,000 treats and only getting about 500 out of the 1000 allowed in a day (Which the limit itself is unnecessary). It’s just going down hill as the only way to get anything in events now is to spend money, which I refuse to do. From the newest update the thing I hate the most is how once your dragons are done breeding it takes you automatically to the nursery. Stop. Get rid of it. It’s just a pain and does not help anything. So please game developers; read the reviews and make the changes because your game is becoming less and less enjoyable. […]

  • Used to be good but just a cash grab.
by jenjin on 2018-11-17 at 3:20 PM

I used to love this game, I’ve played for over a couple years now. But ever since the rift was added to the game the events have been terrible. I didn’t even get any of the new dragons in the last event! You had to get all these evolutionary items to be able to “evolve” dragons you already had into new dragons. So you’d get a new dragon but essentially lose one too. The evolution items were chance and by chance I kept getting double evo items. It was frustrating, I’m maxed out level, I should be able to get at least ONE of the new dragons. I am not the only person who feels this way, there is a large group that feels all this game has turned into is a money grab and I’m starting to agree with them. Get rid of the evolutions, this isn’t Pokémon, and go back to the old formula that worked and kept people happy! […]

by Ajcapellaro on 2018-11-16 at 2:22 PM

I’ve been playing this game for over five years, and that’s saying a lot for me. I usually get tired of games and delete them after a few weeks/months. Up until recently this game had kept my attention, been fun and a little bit of a stress reliever before and after work (ok sometimes during lol). I’m really sad about the direction the game is going, they’ve made it impossible to get prizes in events, sometimes even with the in app purchases, which you used to not have to use at all. And I can’t imagine being a beginner player at this rate. I’m at the max level and I can hardly do anything anymore. I hope this game makes a turn around. I don’t see it lasting like this. It’s not very fun anymore. […]

  • Don't get!!
    by Janlin61 on 2018-11-16 at 5:34 AM

I started out from day one with this and played with my grandsons. As the years went by, my grandsons quit because it costs so much to buy gems or to breed dragons. I continued, I'm at the highest level and until about a year ago, I had all dragons, eggs, islands, habitats. They have always had new events and to get some of extra goodies- I would pay for some of it. Now it is just ridiculous ! The event going on now " Noms" you collect so many leaves to add up to get a " prize" I added up all the prizes and it came to 198,000 to get all dragons, eggs, habitats, and decorations. You are limited to collecting 1000 leaves per day- starting to see a problem here! Now you can PURCHASE leaves - 20,000 for $99.99 and to get all - that would come to $980.10 . Sometimes they will have it where you have double days - so 40,000 for $99.99 and bring it down to $490.05! This is just sad. I just can't afford it. […]

by risalevine on 2018-11-16 at 1:06 AM

The app makes you wait 9-11 hours for a simple task and it is really hard to stay interested in the game. You can’t play for a long time and because of this I was forced to delete the app. I am downloading a different dragon app. Maybe Dragon City, or Dragon Land. I’m sure the makers of DragonVale would not want people deleting the app because of a timing issue. […]

I really love this game and I’m on level 33. But, I do have one problem that’s really annoying me. Whenever I place my geode dragon in the small water habitat, it keeps glitching out! by redbird916 on 2018-11-15 at 9:03 PM

I’ve played since the beginning of the game, enjoyed it, and worked hard to get every dragon but with the last two special events they’ve made it impossible to get every dragon unless you spend money, and a lot of it. The Halloween event frustrated me to no end. I actually could’ve had enough candies to get all the dragons if I hadn’t gotten duplicate after duplicate after duplicate of the items I needed to evolve them. Absolutely stupid. Instead I never did get the wrath or corrupticorn dragons. Getting close to quitting. […]

    by Brandy210 on 2018-11-15 at 9:03 PM

I have played since this game first came out. It used to be great. Now the events are just money grabbers. It is impossible to obtain the dragons without using a bunch of gems, money, and time. Plus, this whole evolution thing is a joke. You work really hard to get a dragon then you have to spend a bunch of time and money to get the capability to evolve it into another dragon which means you no longer have the first dragon that you worked so hard to get. Now you have to start all over trying for a dragon you used to have. Plus, you never have time for that since all your breeding caves are busy with all these back to back events. GOOD-BYE DRAGONVALE - after 7 years of playing. […]

I have loyally played this game since it’s inception several years ago. It offered a variety of challenges for all levels and it was fun! Things have drastically changed in the last few years and the game continues to go down hill. I would no longer recommend this game. • Disappointed.
by Awesome boon on 2018-11-15 at 5:35 PM

I’ve been playing DragonVale for the past couple of years now and it’s been fun seeing all the changes it’s been through. Everything from the rift to new dragons has made the game more interesting and fun to play. However, the past couple of events have been so frustrating. Halloween, party paradise, and now even the thanksgiving event have put a giant damper on this game. It’s near impossible to get these dragons without spending money. I feel so bad for newer players cause they’d have no idea what is happening in these confusing and impossible in-game events. Also, the “evolution” aspect of getting new dragons is ridiculous. To evolve a dragon you need to complete a “ritual” which is almost impossible to fulfill, so now you have to have two of every dragon just in case it gets an evolution in the future. I’m just so disappointed in backflip for having such a solid game and then spit in the face of their fan by adding impossible evolutions, money-grubbing events, and not listening to their fan base. • Pay to Play/Cash Grab
    by Rocketblaster89 on 2018-11-15 at 3:14 PM

I’ve been playing DragonVale for almost 2 years, if not longer. One of my friends got me into the game. He has been playing for almost 6 years and wanted someone else to enjoy it with him. Up until the recent events, we used to compete to see who could get the newest dragon the fastest, or who could get the most event currency. Now he is thinking about quitting. I have never spent actual money on this game. That was never the point. I played because it was free and fun, and relatively easy to breed dragons or obtain from events. These last few months, there has been a significant shift in the game dynamics to make us try and pay actual money to obtain all of the dragons. I refuse. This isn’t the DragonVale I started with, and if this keeps going this path, I will not keep playing. I do appreciate some of the changes though, and I don’t want the developers to think that I want to play the same ole DragonVale day after day. With that being said, things have to be made easier and more user friendly. The evolving is a great idea in theory. What’s not a great idea is allowing us to get 16 tendrils of white before we get our 1 tendril of red needed to evolve. Do you see the issue with that? […]

I’ve been playing for 4 years and this year has been awful. It’s turned into a money grab, pay to play kind of game. Making the dragons harder to breed and obtain. The Halloween festival I maxed out each day (in candy) and still couldn’t get the 3 main dragons. I got multiple repeats on certain flames (5/6 of something that cost 850 candy and you can only earn 1000 candy in a day) I’ve played this game daily for 4 years and now I feel like this game is going down hill. They are only interested in the money now, not the fans. […]

I’ve been playing since the beginning and while the events started off fun and have been ever changing, this new layout feels just like a scheme. With how backflip has several other games, they easily could have just started a new game with the evolution strategy. Not my cup of tea. […]

I have had this game for years and am max level. I used to love it, but the new events are far too complicated and expensive. If you don’t spend significant cash, even max level players can’t collect all of the new items. Event items have gotten increasing more expensive but we are still capped at 1000 event cash per day. New content is great but it’s not fun when you can’t possibly obtain it. If they ever adjust the game mechanics I’ll up my rating but for now it’s just frustrating and I’m close to quitting. […]

    by Wendy1965 on 2018-11-15 at 12:27 AM

I’ve played almost 7 years. It was a nice dragon breeding/decorating game. With the special events coming back to back, it’s impossible to keep up. The latest event is an obvious money grab in that it is IMPOSSIBLE to breed the dragons- you have to “evolve” them. If you’re missing any pieces (and the pieces are totally expensive) then you’re out of luck. Lower level players are locked out while higher levels have to trade high earning dragons for lower earning ones just to get them. The game is glitchy, and full of hurdles to jump with slim chance of success. The fun has left this game. […]

I’ve really enjoyed playing this game. I’ve played it for a long time. It was great fun. You could get almost everything eventually... but now the only way to get special event dragons is through earning enough whatever the currency is for the event—which was fine when the game prices were low so you could reasonably get the dragons and decorations you wanted by playing the games, and you could breed most of the dragons besides, but now the only way to get anything besides just one or two dragons is if you’re willing to use real money. Sorry. I’m happy to watch ads and play the game and earn things the hard way. But I’m not paying real money for a pixilated dragon. But I feel like they game is forcing you to not be able to play for free anymore. […]

  • Going downhill
    by AOG2 on 2018-11-14 at 6:32 PM

I’ve been playing the game for nearly 5 years, usually logging in 2-3 times daily. It was entertaining and during events I’d often pay $20-30 to buy extras and reward the developers for their work. It’s been nearly two years since I’ve been willing to pay real money toward this game. The changes Hasbro has made, particularly in the last 6 months or so, has begun driving tenured, dedicated players away. Events are nearly back-to-back, there are more limited time items at higher in-game costs, which they are using to try to increase out-of-pocket real money spent by players, and what players need to buy and do in order to “evolve” new dragons have become more complicated. The worst, in my opinion, is the developers and Hasbro do not provide responses to questions by players posted publicly, do not appear to take player feedback into consideration, and do not have a customer service presence on the game’s Facebook page.
