    We used Rover twice. This second (and last time), we had a dog walker take our dog, even though she was instructed to only walk him for 30min and return him home. She was unresponsive for 5 hours. The longest 5 hours of my life. We could only imagine the worst case scenarios, and when we filed a report with Rover, they failed to follow up. We had to call back a couple of times to even get any updates from them. They also will not reimburse you for a bad experience and expect you to reach out to the walker yourself, which I think is so incredibly insensitive and could be potentially unsafe—if things escalate, the walkers have your address and information. I have deleted the account and app and would never recommend Rover to others.

    No way to review bad owners who don’t disclose that their dog is aggressive. The bathtub was filthy and I made pennies off the whole thing. 4 nights and 5 days for less than $100 after Rover took their share. Crazy

    We truly appreciated having our shy dog Tobi in the care of Sandra & Deza. They were patient and loving towards him and helped him become more social. Tobi got lots of cuddles, hugs and walks. Best of all, we loved the pictures they sent of him while we were away. We plan to have him under their care again. 🐶🥰

    Terrible update to the app that doesn’t allow you to immediately leave a review after you finish with a boarding etc guest. You used to always have the option at the bottom of the stay on the last day of sitting it would populate. Instead, we’re back to using a third grade developed app.

    For the most part the app is well thought out and very helpful. There are just a few things hard to navigate. I would like to have the option to withdraw a request whether responded to or not.

    I have been working off of this app for well over a year at this point and have had no issues aside from a couple problem clients. Since they switched over to Stripe to process their payments instead of PayPal I don’t get paid until almost a week after the pet has gone home… It used to be the same day with PayPal. Considering I use this as my full-time job it is very inconvenient to wait a bare minimum three days to get paid for a job; not including weekends because they don’t process payments on weekends either! So if you are OK with a company paying you whenever they feel like it go ahead and become a sitter. Update: magically got banned from using the app without anything but a two day notice. I spent a year and a half working on my business and had over 60 5-star reviews… Absolutely heartbroken and disgusted by this app.

    In all honesty the lack of stars is not because of the app itself, but because of the lack of reliable sitters available. It seems no one updates their calendars in the app - they say they are free when they are not and it’s impossible to find someone on a Friday. All of my pet sitters have been late. I love the idea of this app, its features are awesome, the sitters in my town just aren’t.

    not only does rover take a huge chunk of a sitters payment but they also say that they only take 2 days to process your money and get it to you…. whenever i would get paid it would take 5 days, and it’s not just me. my boyfriend also has a sitting profile and it takes him a while to get paid as well. very in convenient 🙄

    They take 20% (with no limit) from sitters AND charge the clients a fee. Seriously…if you get paid 1k, they WILL take $200 for almost no effort. This app provides you with only $30k in insurance (which is minimal and a cruel joke, frankly) that only covers the dog and will even cut off your pay if you have to cut a booking short due to multiple incidents of diarrhea or aggression. A puppy left 4 stains on my carpet and the owner only paid for half the booking, because rover gives them that option. Uber at least has the decency to have customers compensate drivers for messes and I’m not even expecting that, I just want the full pay for the booking. They don’t care at all about the sitters, owners, or even the pets, they just want their 20% for doing 2% of the work. They really should be ashamed of themselves feeling entitled to that big of a cut with no limit for so little work. You can’t see your bookings on the calendar even when you tap the date, only available and unavailable days. We need to be able to quickly see bookings AND pending bookings before we reply to a request…we HAVE to be able to sync the rover calendar with our phone calendars. I get so confused in the summer time seeing who I have booked and who I have pending that I can’t do multitask and make a booking while I do anything else, because I need a while to sit and swipe between my “upcoming” inbox and my phone calendar, and look at my wall calendar so I don’t have to tap on the days to see events. I really need rover to realize how stressful this is and start making some changes to at least try to make this job easier for us if they’re gonna take a fifth of our pay. There’s no excuse not to have a top notch app for what they charge. We need a quick 1-tap way to respond to requests when we need a few minutes before replying. Speaking of marking days as unavailable, they need to actually enforce that. I overbooked by 2 dogs for Memorial Day weekend because they don’t, and also because of the basically useless calendar. They need to provide tracking collars to the sitters as long as they’re on the app because they need to do something useful with that 20%. It’s not like they’re using it for advertising…they’re one of only 2 pet care apps.

    I used Rover for years now, and it is a wonderful app!! No complaints. It does take a percentage of your profits, but if you ran your own website and scheduling system, you would be paying a similar amount for those services.

    UPDATE: Rover Rep Rebecca got back to me to initiate a full refund. Excellent, fast customer service pushes them up two stars AND my actual pet sitter came by today and is all set to watch the animals! Booked a person. She got back to me right away on the first day. Asked about her meeting my animals and she had to check her schedule. No word back from her after multiple attempts. Cancelled “late” and was charged $119 for nothing. If the sitter gets that money without doing anything that sounds like a really good scam. String people along until they have to cancel. Still get paid. If I wasn’t in a bind I’d not use this service again. Unfortunately I have see if another one of your sitters is more reliable. Aside from this issue the app is easy to use and provides a lot of choices. I chose wrong I guess.

    As someone who gets anxiety from the whole job application stuff and not fulfilling my childhood dream to be a veterinarian ( for pets ofc lol ) because the schooling is way to long for my liking and still wanting to be around pets while being active at the same time this is the perfect thing for me i swear to the great heaven this is amazing i meet new people and get to learn about multiple dog breeds at the same time while staying active there’s nothing i could ask for more 🥰 ( but there isss lol ) only thing i ask for is a dark mode within the app and it would be top tier!

    Not only do I sit but I find sitters when I have to travel without my dog. Love this app, very safe and doggy friendly! I also ordered new ROVER SITTER signs for my yard. Looking forward to big business in the area!

    We’ve had very good experiences with Rover when we have needed a sitter for our dog, Jack. We feel a lot better having him in a friendly home than boarding him with so many other dogs. The app is also great in that you can filter in a lot of different ways and communication is easy.

    Accountability on the pet caregivers side is really hit or miss. We contacted someone and talked through everything and was ready to book them and scheduled a meet and greet and she just never showed up and never wrote back again. There is no way to leave a warning review for others to be aware of.

    I have tried to use this app more than a handful of times over the past two years. I have yet to be able to find a dog sitter from this app. For obvious reasons, I choose the “sitters” with the highest ratings and most reviews, who show as available for the dates and times that I need someone to stay with my doggos. Each time I have reached out to the top 4 - 10 sitters showing availability for the dates I entered. Half of them don’t respond at all and the other half say that they’re not available on those dates. Why does not hold the sitters on their site accountable for accuracy on their availability. And there is no way that the reviews for these sitters are being left by people who hired them via Rover, considering that they are never actually available to dog sit. The concept of Rover is great but the majority of their revenue has to be generated by the start up fee that users have to pay, as I have yet to be able to successfully book a dog sitter via Rover in over two years. @Rover, please hold your dog sitters to higher standards of accountability, as your site has more rubbish on it than Tinder, Bumble, Plenty of Fish, Hinge and Happn combined. And that’s a very large landfill indeed.

    Ive been using Rover for 3 years now on & off and I must say it has been an experience! Its never been a bad experience with the dogs & people I've met its the whole transaction period. The fees one Rover are RIDICULOUS & you don't get paid on time it takes like days/week later which I don't understand. I can get paid like $300 for a booking but here goes Rover taking out $60 out of that so now I have less & I have to wait which really bugs me. But all in all if you need the extra money its good for that & of course the dogs if your a pet lover!

    I sent a request to a Dog Sitter on this app. While she seemed really nice, we couldn’t work out an arrangement to meet before dropping off the dogs. So I went into the application to find a way to delete my pending request, and there is simply no simple way to accomplish this. I went to the help pages both in the application and on their website. While the instructions look straight forward, there is no method to delete or cancel a pending request. It seems the best I can do is to reduce the number of days requested to one, and to reduce the number of dogs I need looked after. I tried to call find the number to call the company, and of course there is no number to call. I found an email address to send a note to but I still haven’t heard back. This app really lacks simple and easy functions.

    Buddy had a great time when Mikala stayed overnight with him for the weekend. They went on a bunch of walks and played and Buddy had a great time. I would definitely recommend Mikala to anyone who needs a dog sitter.

    This app has been a God-send for me! I’ve finally started receiving bookings for pet sitting gigs and they’ve been rolling in continuously. The jobs have been very simple and the app has been useful in arranging these gigs. The only request I have is that River manages and syncs with my calendar on my phone so that I don’t double book. I find it very inconvenient that I have to go back to check my pending jobs to verify that I’m available during certain times of a day. I assumed that clients would be able to see if I’m already booked for what times in the day. This would be very helpful so please Rover team jump on that! I appreciate the platform very much and looking forward to seeing what other new useful features they add to the platform to make this much more useful for animal caregivers and owners alike 😸😻🐶 For any new pet sitters, you have to be patient. Don’t expect to get any new gigs right as soon as you sign up and get approved. It took me several months before I started receiving job requests. Certainly helps if you get people to review you on your profile that you may have worked with before using the app!

    The issue is that the app allows dog sitters to book multiple pets at the same time without communicating to the consumer at all. I show up to the dog sitter’s house and we there are TEN DOGS there. I’m concerned my dog isn’t getting the care she needs with that many dogs. It’s too late for me to find someone else, so I just deal with it. I blame Rover for allowing the app to book so many people in one home, or for not at least notifying the person booking their dog that “this person has already booked other dogs for this time period” or something.

    Short version. My Rover contacts advised via text that they were handing over our dog to a non rover approved roommate as they had to leave early to a meeting. I arrived at 445pm for pickup - knocked and knocked until roommate answered door 5 minutes who apologized as he was sleeping in his bedroom. I found our dog in the living room with the lights out all alone - when he saw me he bolted to the door to leave. Then could not find his leash - a cluster ….I honestly think our dog was left alone most of the day. That night he had severe diarrhea lasting the last two days. Thursday morning he is finally better and has calmed down. Not sure what transpired but can assure our dog that it is last time he will experience this type of treatment. Update - The Rover Developer sent message saying they were alarmed and call customer service for resolution. Yes, we did that previously — Rover said “Call the Dog Sitter - they are an independent company for any resolution or refund.” So unless you immediately take your dog to the vet and develop a legal case that will set you back a few hundred bens that would indicate the dog had trauma or had eaten bad food and then present that info to the dog sitter and only if the dog sitter denies paying all of those expenses - Rover will get involved. All we wanted was our money back and the dog sitter reported for violating the terms of service —hopefully preventing this from happening again to another dog. But that was not an option. Lesson learned - don’t think that if you leave your dog with someone they won’t hand it off to someone else that is not even authorized and will spend the day in a dark room alone - unsupervised - as the 3rd party sleeps in their room — that’s what happened to us. Our dog today (4 days later) is now just starting to have regular stools and again has a smile on his face. We thought this was a great idea —- but it was not. So good luck if you use this service - amateur hour at best — the app and the dog sitter and the non approved 3rd party sitter — all around. I wish I could give Negative *.

    As a new sitter I feel we need more options to customize the pets we sit. 1) We should be able to enter the dogs weight instead of letting us choose up to 15lbs for small dogs, then the next option is up to 40lbs. I’m able to sit for dogs up to 25-30lbs but I don’t have that option…frustrating. I don’t want to miss out on dogs that are 20 lbs but I don’t want a 40lb dog. 2) I should be able to customize the dog size for dog daycare to dog boarding. If I have an older but small dog I’m sitting, I don’t want a 40lb dog in daycare. I wish we could adjust based on the day based off the dogs we are currently caring for.

    Rover takes a MASSIVE 20% from anything you make and deems it necessary as a “service fee” so that they can continue ‘maintaining’ the Rover app. They do this even though they already take a 5-7% additional service fee from the clients. If you are a sitter here you are forced to over charge clients due to Rover taking money out of their sitters hands. If you book a client for 4nights at $70 a night, due to Rover’s UNCAPPED service fee for sitters, you are really charging $56 a night for your services.

    The caregiver Samantha has been fantastic! Can’t be happier than this- my dog has recently developed seizures and is on medication three times/day to control them. Samantha has sent pictures multiple times/ day and even a video and her communication about how he is doing is exceptionally amazing! She has given him all his meds and taken great care! Grateful! Thank you!

    1. There is no way to leave a review on the pets you watch or care fore so you have no idea if the pet you get is awful or not. 2. Rover takes so much of the payment for processing fees 3. Rover provides zero coverage for the sitter. If the dog damages the home, the sitter or anything else, Rover will not cover said damages. 4. Rovers customer service is good. Their only redeeming quality. In conclusion, if you want to dog sit as a side hustle, get on your cities Facebook page and offer your services that way.

    Low rating because the app limits how much you can tip. I’ve never heard of a company doing that. If I want to tip more that should be my choice if someone goes above and beyond.

    Client review: sitters do not update their calendar which is frustrating. Rover does not penalize at all so people just keep wasting their time with sitters that either never respond or aren’t available. 9/10 I book a professional daycare instead. Also, Clients should be able to withdraw and state the reason so rover can use that information. Contacting customer care to remove is pointless. So you end up with an inbox full of junk. ———————————————————————— Sitter review: Rover itself is great to get started but the fees they take are ridiculous! From a $510 stay they took $100 from me which makes no sense! Id understand if it were 10%, but 20% when rover does nothing to help is ridiculous, they also add fees for the client on top of the 20% they take from sitters. The fees are heavy and I’ll probably look for other ways to generate clientele. —————-Also, the sitters review of a dog should be public to other sitters. I have had multiple clients exaggerate the level of training their pup has, and there is nothing you can do but train the dog yourself for free. That should be told to other sitters for preparation before they confirm with a client. ———Update: just had my first daycare cancellation. Rover issues a full refund if the booking is cancelled before the day starts. Client cancelled after 8pm the day prior and there is no way to set a fee. The only reason this matters is bc I have a limitation for how many pets I take and I have to turn clients away once I have 2 confirmed. This takes from a possible client as I’m sure they will continue to book with the sitter they found while I was unavailable.—- update 2: rover allows people to contact you even after you mark yourself unavailable. Over the past week, I’ve had 5 request that are for dates I am not available which to the client looks like I don’t update my calendar. Contacting rover is annoying and often unresolved. I’m not sure why they respond to negative reviews by telling us to contact support when they do not resolve the complaints.

    Pet sitter here. Please be aware that when you book a sitter Rover takes 20% of their profit, 20%! I’ve been successful using Rover to Pet sit for the past 2 year. The app is very user friendly. However, I will not take smaller sitting jobs because the pay simple is not worth it with the 20% ‘Rover fee’. Outrageous!

    I currently live in a heavy populated dog area, but when I emailed River support they lie and said there is nothing going on in my very populated of dog city. When I can clearly see on line of my research as well as all the lock boxes I see throughout my city. Get a hold of someone is impossible!!! Positive side - before Covid it was extremely busy for me to work
