  • Generates wrong dates

    I bought 4 different journeys from this app and the dates are all correct on the main page but when the actual ticket is opened the dates are all a day in advance!!!! I’ve contacted them and have been waiting for them to fix the dates it’s been 4 days and I check everyday nothing yet no updates!!!

    There’s no way to change the times shown in the app from 24 hours to 12 hours. It makes it very challenging for an American to travel in Italy. For a country that wants tourists to visit they are making it difficult for people to do so.

    This is my second time trying to use this app for long train trips. It doesn’t recognize my name and password, so I’ve had an email sent to change my password. I changed it, it was accepted, and it still doesn’t work! For both trips I had long train rides and could never connect to wifi. I was only able to connect in the lounge before a trip one time. When I couldn’t connect on previous train trips, the people in the lounges could not help. So much for purchasing executive class tickets. Very frustrating, but it never seems to get fixed. I’m thinking customer satisfaction isn’t a priority.

    I purchased 4 tickets online for July 3rd 2022. I have the pdf of the tickets in my email with the date july 3rd 2022. The app shows those same tickets for July 2nd 2022. Adding to the frustration there is no phone number to call to figure it out what date is the right one. The app is really not user friendly. I cannot manage 5 tickets of adults and children together as I would do with any airline. Any revision must be done for each ticket individually. I am Italian, my first language is Italian. Italians are used to these non sense, so I am writing this review for people used to app working properly.

    I used this App and can’t believe Trenitalia hasn’t fixed important ticket purchasing issues. I used the app to buy tickets for a certain date. The Journeys section shows my departure date 1 day before the actual travel date (that is a glitch/mistake). My ticket is correct and the website has the correct Journey date and correct ticket travel date. Plus, I received a confirmation email with the tickets ( correct dates). My third booking had more errors that scared me. The website showed the correct Journey date matching the ticket date and I received the email confirming the date. The mobile app had the wrong Journey date ( 1 day early again) but this time the ticket on the app HAS THE WRONG TRAVEL DATE! Now I can not use this electronic ticket on my mobile phone because it has the wrong date ( ticket is 1 day earlier). I live in the USA so I did a mobile chat to verify my PRN was for the correct date, and it was. Your App is causing confusion and will cause your company headaches and complaints from your customers. The App is not synchronizing correctly with website. Please fix this problem or tell customers to use the website. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

    Do not bother downloading. App will not allow me to log in. Changed username and password multiple times and still does not work. Customer support was worthless as well

    Purchased tickets for me and my family to ride the Leonardo Express to the Rome airport. Once we were onboard and showed our ticket to the train conductor he informed us that my tickets for my children did not qualify as a “children”. Even though I had tickets for them he proceeded to charge us €64 per child for an adult ticket and a fine. I would recommend families just take a taxi.

  • Good Feature Set, but Unreliable

    The overall feature set is great, however, the app is fairly unreliable for the fundamental needs. Checking a train status will often hang before giving an ambiguous error message indicating to try again. Buying a ticket is best done in the website as searching for routes never completes. The app will spin for minutes on end after entering the start / end locations and the time without any indication of progress. Going through the website in the same connection completes almost instantly, so it’s surely an app problem rather than a connection issue. Journeys bought in the website “sometimes” synchronize with the app. I bought two in the last 2 days. One synchronized, the other did not. After manually trying to import the journey I saw the same ambiguous error message. As an engineering leader myself this smells a lot like an external dev team was tasked with the app without proper QA or accountability to the reliability of the feature set. The app is not ready to be used stand alone and the team should focus on the fundamental features, QA, and reliability.

    Seems to convert the scheduled/purchased date to the user’s current local time zone, which causes much confusion and ultimate inability to use the app.

    I have a journey on September xx, but when I open the app and click on Journeys, it says the trip is a day earlier. About gave me a heart attack. But click through to the ticket and the correct date does display.

    Our train leaves on a Friday. While viewing the ticket in the app from our current location in the U.S., the app shows our train departure date a day earlier (Thursday).

    Used this app to travel between cities while on a trip to Italy. It’s very simple to use, payment is quick, and integration with Wallet is nice. Only improvements I could think of are suggestions to search, the auto fill is good but it also needs a “did you mean.” Another suggestion, showing your trip on a map. Suggesting this as google seems to name the stations differently (their fault, not this app’s). This would be a nice feature to reassure people they are going to the correct place. I still think it’s worthy of 5 stars, its basic features work excellent and the app is very clean.

    The app appears to convert local train times to the customer’s current local time zone for tickets provisioned in the Wallet app. For example, train that leaves at 11 AM from Rome shows as leaving at 5 AM for customers on the east coast (6 hour difference).

    I booked my tickets on desktop website, downloaded the app to have tickets on my phone, only to find the dates were a day off in app. This led to some confusion and having to call customer service to verify I purchased the correct dates.

    It’s impossible to track, search or even book anything on this app. When selecting a date and time, the app completely overwrites what I select. If I pick a Wednesday from the calendar, Thursday or sometimes Friday shows up in the search box. If I try to correct it, it defaults back to another random date. It does the same thing with times. If I pick 10 then a random time shows up , 19 shows up in this example search. It’s very frustrating. I tried deleting and reinstalling but it didn’t help.

    The app used to work fine but now every time I try and find a train and I put in a date and time it gives a completely different date and time. I don’t know what they did to this app but it’s useless now.

    If you can get the app to load, which is a very big if, you have a very clunky app to work with. The most prevalent result is “Service not available. Try again later.”

    Cannot add ticket for a dog; attendant told me to purchase for a child instead. Get berated by different attendant on train for not having dog ticket. Cannot purchase ticket for dog on website either, only at station.

    App is great. Works good and makes taking the train a breeze. I have used this app to travel from Venezia to Milano, then Firenze. This is where I have been having trouble with the app not saying system down. Deleted and reloaded app to no avail. This is why I’m dropping the star rating down to 2. Frustrating not being able to use the app. When working you can set times, change booking, and select your preferred seat.

    I am planning a trip to Italy and need to know train schedule for different journies. The main problem is that once I check a journey from A to B, the next time I want to check a journey that involves either A or B, the app brings up the A to B journey, without the ability to change either. I have to uninstall and reinstall the app for each journey that I check. I do this at home, but I am not sure how doable it would be while traveling without WiFi. My version is the latest, 5.0.10.0002.

    This app is honestly so poorly designed. The idea to follow trains in real time is nice but DOES NOT WORK. If I click on a certain train going from say town A to town B it will show me a completely different schedule, going from X to Y. Terrible.

    The app isn’t great. Connecting to the “free” WiFi is an exercise in futility. It charges your credit card! There is no reason you should have to enter your credit card number to connect to the WiFi. At the MOST confirm your boarding pass number. This is the most offensive intrusion on personal information I have ever experienced with a transportation company for “free” WiFi. There are more hoops than a circus act. At the end of it all I was still not even able to connect. Please make it like the airports. Connect, log in, confirm, connected.

    I booked a train for next week, paid, received both an email with confirmation as well as card for Wallet, an invoice in pdf. All without problems. Lay-out of the app is easy and clear. Perfect!

    There is literally nothing this app can do. I can’t load my tickets, search for tickets, login, or anything else that would be useful when traveling with Trenitalia. Save your time and don’t bother with this app.

    I selected my ticket, entered my info & credit card, then it said that the transaction didn’t go through & for me to pay again. I checked my email first & saw that I did already have been charged by Trenitalia for the tickets, but they never emailed me the tickets!!! Now I have to call my credit card service to void the purchase.

    Could not get app to work for me. Among its problems: 1. The train station I needed to go to (San Vincenzo) is missing from list 2. Registration Page does not load properly 2. Instructions direct customers to report technical problems using the “Report an Issue” section, but that section doesn’t exist in menu.
