  • Great concept, app needs work

    We loved the idea of the touchless pick up and drop off, but the app was not good enough to get all the benefits. Drivers needed the app to connect to, unlock, start and lock the car. We could never get all three drivers connected to the car to drive the car, only one driver, so we had to transfer access to a single key card. Support was slow to respond and was unable to resolve the issue. Although I followed instructions and sent invites to the other drivers, they were unable to connect. It was inconvenient for the two drivers who could not connect, to say the least. Even the one driver had to connect the car every time we had to use the car, which involved sitting in the car in 100 degree sun waiting for car and app to connect and to be able to start the car, ranging from a matter of a half minute to several minutes. The app needs a more reliable system to connect.

    After prepaying $1000 three separate times for a rental car, I still ended up with a cancelled reservation. Dealing with customer “service” was a process that took me several days and only left me more frustrated. Don’t expect any hoop they ask you to jump through to work. Don’t expect a straight answer. I’m fact don’t use this app at all and go somewhere that they might appreciate your patronage.

    After days of back and forth with customer service my issue was never dealt with directly. I was bounced around to several different people and this experience ruined my trip. If you’re lucky enough to have no issues on your trip than maybe this is for you, but my trip was ruined. Deleting the app. I will never use this waste of time again.

    We booked our car weeks before our car rental. We sent them all the documents they asked for. It sat pending for days. Then we end up sitting outside a car park for six hours, wasting an entire day of our vacation, because they didn’t communicate with us at all and we couldn’t get a hold of them. I understand mistakes happen. I work in business and nothing is perfect. But not having a customer support center to call and correct issues promptly is poor structure for a business model that otherwise makes sense. And for what it’s worth, the reason the delay was eventually explained and was woefully insufficient. The most critical thing being that it could have been corrected in five minutes over the phone or even prompt texting - Neither of which currently exist with this company. I have updated my rating from 1 stars to 2 because: 1) They refunded our money. 2) They reached out to me after leaving this bad review and asked to correct the matter. I respect and appreciate their efforts to make it right. However, I will leave this review as truthfully representative - A disappointing experience. Virtuo, if you care about your customers and my concern, consider making the following adjustment: 1) Make yourself ACCESSIBLE. Email is insufficient. An actual person on the phone is preferable. At the very LEAST, live chat or texting.

    If even the slightest thing goes wrong you are going to be absolutely stranded. We tried to use them to rent a vehicle for a week long road trip in Scotland, but we could not get the vehicle accessed. Terrible last minute thing to go through. The developer has the balls to ask me to reach out to them, but I tried to reach out to them multiple times.

    Wasted a considerable amount of time trying to figure out how to waive the insurance coverage to make it possible to access my Amex insurance. Called Amex and they said Virtuo is not covered for premium car rental protection.

    Using Virtuo was a seamless process for renting my car abroad. The cost was half the locally-nominal amount and even allowed half day charges.

    I have used Virtuo before and this was my second time but from a new location. Great car. Only glitch was in leaving and arriving from parking zone. The machine did not rad t he license plate so I had to ask for help each way, to leave and then in returning the car.

    Virtuo had all the elements of the perfect solution to clunky and inconvenient rentals. Smooth delivery, great car etc. However, our rental car was booted / clamped for non-payment of back fines and violations that the company had for some time, and chose to ignore. After spending about 25% of my time in London dealing with this issue, to get the boot removed, I simply returned the car and cancelled early. Poor back end service and responsiveness, and they seem content with that.

    This app collects your personal data before letting you in. DO NOT DOWNLOAD you will submit your passport and license and then discover it is not what you are looking for.

  • Used to be good but going down the hill

    The app is getting worse and worse. No way to find your car’s location or end the rental. And this is after using this service half a dozen times. Last time the tires didn’t have enough air and this time the car park was locked and the intercom service didn’t work. The customer service is very good and fast but it doesn’t make up for the poor app UX.

    Booked SUV for a ski trip in Spain. Everything was perfect, the car, the experience. Contacted support for a few times, answers were friendly and timely. Everything was by mobile app only. Like it!

  • Virtuo Bluetooth Transponder Failed

    The Bluetooth transponder on the car windshield failed and locked us out of the car. We spent a few hours waiting out in the cold on a country road at night. We called customer service which sent a mechanic to open the car. All turned out well but I’d say Virtuo blamed the whole thing on Mercedes was a little self assured. Once the car was opened it was Obvious the car functioned properly and the issue were virtuous keyless transponder.

    Took 9 hours of back and forth before I gave up. My bank could not understand what the problem was. The customer service on the phone was awful and while the service via chat was friendly, they were completely unable to help with all the problems with the app.

    I just want to see if the prices are even decent and if they cover the areas I frequent but you have to upload this and that and the ui doesn’t even auto grab the sms code. Wasn’t even sure if I could use this app with my foreign license and passport from a 3rd country. Will stick with hertz and sixt who have solid premium cars just better to deal with an actual human especially when I’m spending $200/day sometimes 😂 also I like getting my Iberia or Bonvoy points and nothing in the sign up process gave me the confidence that I would get any white glove service esp after reading that 2 star review. Don’t think these people know how to provide top shelf Vip service quality

    Wow! Top!!! Best rental car experience i have ever had EVER! Easiest process, found the car easily through the app, unlocked with my amazing virtual key and i drove out within 3 mins! I have been renting cars for the past 10 years and this is by far the future! The fact that there is a virtual key and i dont have to deal with anyone, no paperwork at the counter ...no waiting in line. Its super smooth and user friendly i love it! 100% recommend it!!!

  • Virtuo Disabled My Account After A Seccessful Booking

    This service just killed my account after I rent a car from them for 10 days and want to extend for 2 more days. For some reasons, my credit card needs international verification step to send back and forth SMS verification code to my phone, this is where the issue came from: after the redirect and successful verification, the app sent me a confirmation. But later an email sent to me and said booking on hold because of anomaly. I contacted their customer service immediately, a lady told me my account is disabled and will no longer be able to use in the future because of I didn't follow their terms of condition. And in her original words: "You will no longer be able to rent with us, I'm afraid this decision from our security department is final and not negotiable." So then anomaly can cause nonnegotiable conditions, huh? Later check with their supervisor and got a response that someone else is driving so my order is cancelled, not because I violate the terms of service. So this does not even make sense. YOU DON'T DISABLE AN ACCOUNT BECAUSE YOU DETECT THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL DRIVER! In purchasing step there is a place that asked me "is there an addional driver" and I clicked YES! This service is so awkwardly designed and I don't recommend it.

    Great customer service. Great user experience. As someone who works in consumer-facing apps, I know exactly how hard it is to pull off such a great app. Virtuo does it. Color me impressed.

    No sure why my first review isn’t showing...Had trouble finding then returning car...phone ran out of batteries so had to go in to a shop and charge before could use again...car was a bit dirty as well although nice enough car but think I’ll stick to normal car rental companies in the future!
